30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Hasbro Figure Stands
« on: April 17, 2007, 12:55 PM »
So, is anyone picking up these packs of stands?  I kind of liked the stands that came with TSC figures, although I have ended up not being able to use them all just because they take up a little extra space and my display cases are getting pretty full.

I'll probably get a few packs depending on cost.  I'm already using extras to prop up older lines of figurs (POTF2 thru OTC).  I'm a little worried about what they're going to charge though...

If you are still looking to buy this check out newforcecomics.com

http://newforcecomics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=NFCC&Category_Code=SWP3C

I've bought from them in the past and their stuff is top notch for about as cheap as you can get.  They have this for $30 or two for $55...can't beat that price.

I got one to open and left one sealed - I like em both.  Was a little dissapointed to see that Motti and Tarkin are essentially rereleases...they could have increased the articulation on these two.  Vader is a little crappy as weill compared to the dozens of vader releases, but I was pretty happy with the four new imperials.  Just wish they had knee articulation!

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Questions for Hasbro?
« on: April 14, 2007, 10:22 AM »
I'd like to know what Hasbro's procedure is for selecting figure assortments.  Since there seem to be pegwarmers in every wave and people complaining about not finding figs from POTF2 to TAC, seems like there is room for improvement.

Hasbro seems to have close ties to the online community...why not partner with some of these sites to run polls on how many of each upcoming figure people will buy?  Intended purchase research is conducted by every major manufacturer I've ever worked with - I don't get why Hasbro doesn't take advantage of this.  I'm sure the McQ stormtrooper would have outperformed rocket blast R2, which would have put McStormie in more people's hands and my local Target wouldn't have 8 R2's left on the pegs.

The one arguement I always hear back is that these sites only represent collectors and not kids.  I would bet that there are a LOT of kids coming to these sites as well, but even if this group is under represented, what other research does Hasbro have to show that kids prefer multiple Mace Windu's and Han's and Obi-Wans to EU characters, troop-builders, and new characters?  For that matter, what research do they have that shows the % of purchasing by collecors vs. kids?  My nephews love anything fett and anything that resembles a stormtrooper - they could care less about another Han with pilot gear on his head.

This seems pretty simple - I'd love to hear more about HAsbro's assortment selection system and why they haven't jumped at the free, possibly more accurate, research that the net affords them.

Anyone else thinking that Ben either didn't really have a tumor/cancer or that if he did, it was Juliet that put it there?  The island seems to be a cure all and she seemed a little eager to test the truth about the group being able to cure cancer.

Nice to finally have a name for whomever is directing Ben (Jacob)...had we heard that before?

Jack knows what has happened to all of the people that were taken away, right?  I don't get why no one is willing to give up new information to their supposed friends.

WTF is with them being able to bring Locke's dad to the island...!?  A box that gives you whatever you need?  I need a room like for building my Star Wars collection.  ;D

Just one more great piece of feedback for Mike.  Great communicator, fast shipper, and the stuff was packed perfectly.  Items were exactly as described.  Mike's an asset to the trading community and I'd definitely recommend trading with him.  Thanks Mike!

Star Wars Universe / Re: luke skywalkers death?
« on: April 12, 2007, 09:58 PM »
From what I understand of the story arc that this happened in, Chewie's death was supposed to raise the stakes in the NJO series.  Throughout all of the EU novels up until then, you always knew that the main characters were going to get out of their respective predicaments.  As a result a good number of the stories left people a little "blah" and there didn't seem to be a reason for them to continue following the storylines of the novels.  In that regard I can understand why Chewbacca was killed off.

Exactly.  It sucked, but if you read the rest of the NJO series, you were always on edge wondering who might get knocked off.  I would have liked to see Anakin around a little longer, but I applaud the writers for taking a less than popular risk by killing him off.

From what I've heard, Lucas has yet to decide on the fate of Luke, Han & Leia.  I've been reading Legacy and I think the story is awesome so far.  Its 100 years beyond NJO (I think?), so obviously the known SW heroes have all passed on.

The latest decendent is Cade Skywalker and his dad is Kol Skywalker.  Luke has a son named Ben, so I'm wondering if Ben is Cade's grandfather and Luke is is Great Grandfather?  If you assume that everyone (outside of Luke) had kids around the age of 25, there could be a missing Skywalker somewhere in there...

Star Wars Universe / Re: Favorite Villain?
« on: April 12, 2007, 09:45 PM »
I'll pick Sebulba.  He's pretty ruthless, has a fast ride, and seems to get a lot of chicks.  Plus he was the only one even close to taking out Jar Jar, which practically makes him a good guy in my book.

Character or figure?

Character: Metal Bikini Leia (obviously)

Figure: Either my FF Weequay or Toy Fair Vader, not because they're my faves, but because they'd be hardest to replace.

Ok, what do you guys think of these pieces?

Revotech Megatron

That Meg looks awesome and $25 feels about right. Wish he was a little bigger to match 30 Anniversary Prime though...
