Watto's Junk Yard / When Snakes Attack
« on: October 6, 2005, 04:14 PM »
I really wasn't sure where to put this, but I couldn't let it go without bringing it up for those that missed it (I saw it on the news last night).

It's the carcass of a six-foot American alligator protruding from the mid-section of a 13-foot Burmese python after the snake apparently swallowed the alligator and burst resulting in the deaths of both animals.

Python Bursts After Trying to Eat Gator

Stuff like this is what makes animals so cool - man, that snake had balls to try to eat an alligator.  Wow, just wow.   :o

Didn't see a feedback thread, so I guess I'll have to start one here at JD...

Had my first trade with Mitch.  He set me up with one of his cool custom table and chair sets:

Very cool unique piece to add a bit more "wow" to my cantina set-up.  Thanks again for the trade!   :)

JD Sports Forum! / JD Fantasy Basketball 2005
« on: September 25, 2005, 07:56 PM »
Well, since it appears I have time to play this year and the "other" league is full, I thought I'd start a second league.   :)

The league will be scored with a rotisserie scoring system for ten categories:

Field Goals Made
Free Throws Made
3-PT Shots Made
Total Points
Offensive Rebounds
Defensive Rebounds
Assists
Steals
Blocked Shots
Turnovers

The rosters have 12 active players as follows:
PG
SG
PF
SF
C
Utility
Utility
five Bench Positions

In addition, there will be one injure reserve spot to accomodate injured super-stars.

Invitations are open to ALL JediDefender Members except for those I choose to disallow for obvious reasons.   :-X  To join, post here and I'll send you a PM with all the details on how you can join...

Jeff

ps.
The draft order will be determined by one of two methods, according to the results of a league vote:

1 - If Yahoo Live Draft is chosen, we will use a random order determined by Yahoo.

2 - If a JD Forum based draft is chosen, the draft order will be chosen by a neutral third-party staff member of JediDefender.

I see that Hasbro updated today with news of the Titanium Series Ultra line, starting with the X-Wing and Gunship.  I'm guessing these are just larger versions, is that right?  If so, I might just wait and get a few from this line, depending on price.

In case you didn't read the story when Hasbro originally posted in back on August 26th, you can read it at Hasbro.com again today.

Nothing like re-posting an old story (word-for-word) and pretending it's something new...  ::)

Star Wars Action Figures / Consolidated Customs Threads
« on: September 2, 2005, 12:33 PM »
Hi All,

Since I've had a few requests over the last few weeks, I thought I'd sticky this for a bit.

If you'd like one single thread for all of your custom work (like CHEWIE, Gregorbian, or Master_Phruby have), just let me know (via PM) and I can smoosh all of your older custom threads into one master thread for ya!

Thanks,
Jeff

Revenge of the Sith / Exclusives Overload?
« on: August 29, 2005, 05:22 PM »
Is it safe to say that 2005 is the year of the Exclusives Overload?

Since these things get spread out over a year, it's easy to lose track of just how many exclusives there are this year.  As near as I can figure so far (thanks to Rob's Hasbro thread), there have been at least 44 exclusive items in the 3.75" scale line this year (maybe more as I/we remember them).

Celebration 3 Darth Vader
Diamond Bounty Hunter 7-Pack
Disney Star Tours 3T-RNE
Disney Star Tours G3-5LE
Disney Star Tours MSE-1T
EE Astromech 5-Pack #1
EE Astromech 5-Pack #2
EE Clone 4-pack - All White, Battle Damage
EE Clone 4-pack - All White, Clean
EE Clone 4-pack - Colors, Battle Damage
EE Clone 4-pack - Colors, Clean
Internet Exclusive Wedge Antilles
KB Toys Silver Vader 9-Pack
K-Mart Emperor Throne Room Battle Pack
K-Mart Jedi Temple Battle Pack
SDCC Holo Leia
StarWarsShop Covert Ops Clone Trooper
Target Boba Fett w/Cup Set
Target Clone Attack Battle Pack
Target Clone Trooper w/Cup Set
Target Darth Vader w/Cup Set
Target Grievous w/Cup Set
Target Han Solo w/Cup Set
Target Lava Darth Vader
Target Mustafar Duel Anakin
Target Mustafar Duel Obi-Wan
Target Obi-Wan w/Cup Set
Target Plo Koon Jedi Starfighter
Target Princess Leia w/Cup Set
Target SA Clone Trooper
Target SA Stealth Trooper
Target Stormtrooper w/Cup Set
Target TIE Fighter
Target Yoda w/Cup Set
TRU Anakin Jedi Starfighter
TRU Holo Emperor
TRU Holo Yoda
TRU Hoth Battle Pack
TRU Obi-Wan Jedi Starfighter
TRU RotS Box Millennium Falcon
Wal-Mart DVD Clone Trooper 3-Pack
Wal-Mart DVD Jedi 3-Pack
Wal-Mart DVD Sith 3-Pack
Wal-Mart Early Bird Kit

And that's only the 3.75" stuff from Hasbro!  It doesn't even count 12" stuff or Titanium Stuff or Target Micro stuff or anything else!    44 exclusive items in the 3.75" scale in one year?  That is approximately $900 plus tax/shipping if you tried to grab one of everything!   :o

Anyone else think that's just WAAAAAY too much running around to do in a year?

Anyone else worried (like me) that this is a sign of things to come where the retailers demand HUGE lots of exclusive goods?   :-\

Revenge of the Sith / RotS DVD 3-Packs!
« on: August 22, 2005, 04:21 PM »
Not sure who they belong to yet, but If I had to take a guess, I'd say they will be at Wal-Mart for the DVD release, just like the OT and CW sets were...

Yes, folks it's another variant of the 3-Pack Clones, only this time in a fancy box!

The Jedi Set looks like it has the "Battle Arena" Versions...

And yes, a Sith box of repacks as well!

First up, Delva Racine!

From the Official Site:
"Challenging fashion designer Delva Racine may have gone just a bit too far with her latest collection. She's one of the many patrons seen milling about the Galaxies Opera House."

I cannot, I will not, rest until she gets her very own action figure from Revenge of the Sith!

No one would be better for RotS figure #69 than Delva!

Anyone else have an "awesome" character design that they'd love to see made?

 :P

Revenge of the Sith / #56 Mustafar Sentry
« on: August 9, 2005, 10:50 PM »
Wow!

I picked up this guy tonight and I really, really love him!

He's chocked full of articulation, he has a great base, and I love his weapon.  The only thing that would make him better would be if Hasbro would release a "Mustafar Flea" to go with him!

Anyone else feeling some love for this funky alien figure?

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Wedge Antilles
« on: July 21, 2005, 11:35 PM »
Dear Hasbro,

Thank You for changing Wedge.

Sticking us with the 1997 PotF2 Wedge at this point in the line would be a really dumb thing to do.  I am eternally grateful that you heard the voice of the fans at San Diego Comic Con and did something to make Wedge better.

That new Wedge with the Saga Dutch Vander Body is a 1000% improvement over the 1997 PotF2 Wedge or even the 1999 Cinema Scene Wedge.  Instead of begrudgingly buying my one Wedge to keep my carded collection complete, I'll now be enthusiastically ordering two and anxiously awaiting his arrival this winter!

Thank you for doing something very good.  Please don't screw it up by changing him to something different.   :)

Your Pal,
Jeff

We all heard the rumors before Comic-Con, but Hsbro was silent and playing coy.

Rebelscum however claims to have more info (please take this as purely rumor for now):

Quote
While it's still very early in the development stages, and a lot depends on if retailers are willing to pick it up, here's a list of toys in the works (of the 12 that are planned):

Luke Skywalker / X-Wing Fighter
Darth Vader / TIE Fighter
General Grievous / Wheel Bike
Obi-Wan Kenobi / Jedi Starfighter
Boba Fett / Slave 1
Darth Maul / Sith Infiltrator
Anakin Skywalker / Jedi Starfighter
Snowtrooper / AT-ST
Clone Trooper / ARC-170 Fighter
Emperor Palpatine / Star Destroyer
Jango Fett / Slave 1

If all goes as planned, these should begin appearing early in 2006.

Egad, that sucks!  Isn't Toy Biz trying/tried this with the Marvel figures?   :-\

Figures that transform into vehicles?  Since when was Luke of Anakin a robot?    ::)

If this pans out, there is no way I'll buy these.  No way, no how.

IMHO, yet another lame ass concept coming from Hasbro - stop trying to force new lines on us and use that development money for NEW 3.75" stuff!   >:(
