What the heck happended to the cantina wave post, I was just posting on it?

I merged it into the existing Cantina Wave thread...

I'll gladly buy this set.  I can handle sacrificing the 3rd Shocktrooper for the Senate Pod.  :)

Wow.

Most of these look FANTASTIC.

I love Hem Dazon, he's amazing!

R5-D4 - about ******* time!  looks like the vOTC R2-D2 sculpt with a new dome (because of the panel on the front).  I guess we know why he wasn't in the EE packs...  :P

Man, that Hem Dazon is SWEET.   ;D

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: RS deletes accounts
« on: December 19, 2005, 04:45 PM »
Needless to say, there are others there who are allowed to have a number of SW collecting sites mentioned in their signatures. I guess PW is now trying to stamp out all competition.

You (and many others) seem to have missed my post from waaaaay back in November...  I got banned for pointing out how stupid that rule was since no less than 3 of the admins over there ALL have sig lines that promote other websites.   ::)

Since we are talking RS again this week, I guess I should let you all know that my account at RS was banned/deleted last Thursday...

Apparently, you are no longer allowed to point out any hypocrisy that the RS Mods/Admins may posess.

The Admins over at RS were issuing warnings to forum members who have links in their signatures, citing this passage from the "official" RS forum rules:  "But using forum posts, or links in your signature designed to promote another Star Wars collecting website is not permitted. "

One admin in particular went so far as to say "If you truly respect the community you will choose to follow the same guidelines everyone else respects".

So, then I asked why at least 3 of the Admins/Mods over there all have links in their signatures that were "designed to promote another Star Wars collecting website "?  If they truely respected the community, shouldn't they have to follow the rules too?

And, as you can all guess - I did not get a straight answer, I only ended up with "Your account has been banned or locked" and an e-mail stating my affiliation with JD was the cause of my ban.    ::)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Serenity -- The Firefly continuation

Time for a bump!

Serenity comes out on DVD tomorrow and I know I have to make the trip to Best Buy to grab one to add to the pile of Christmas loot for the wife...

I've seen a few of the deleted scenes on the net and it looks like this could be a great DVD.  Looking forward to watching the film again this week!

97.84!

God damn, it's a good day.

Looking forward to the final game, whoever I have to face.

Kevin

Man, I'm not even in this league and I gotta say props to Kevin.  Nothing like having your team go RED HOT during the playoff weeks.

Nearly 185 points in 2 weeks?   :o  That's just nuts!

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Carded Wedge, finally!
« on: December 17, 2005, 06:24 PM »
Any idea when newforcecomics will be shipping their stock?

I ordered mine from there too. They said they received their shipment and will be shipping this week.

Got my Wedges (24) from New Force last night.   ;D

I really like this figure.  To me, this is what re-hashes should be.  They could pop a new head/helmet on this body and grind out X-Wing Pilots until the cows come home - Biggs, Red 4, Red Leader, Hobbie, Janson, etc etc.  Granted, he's a bit tall compared to the rest of the pilots, but if they gave us more it'd be the old ones that looked out of place.

Sure $10 is a lot for a basic figure, but at least he was only $10 shipped from NewForce and not $14 plus shipping from some of those other places.  It's times like this that the local collecting group really pays off!   ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 2005 - year wrapup
« on: December 16, 2005, 03:23 PM »
The main thing I was disappointed with this year was all the exclusives, and their lack of availability and the pricepoint.

My biggest gripe was the exclusives. Too many and way overpriced.

I'll go in for a third on this point.

I really enjoyed all the new stuff, even the goofy repaints at the end of the line, but tracking down all this exclusive stuff was a pain (I'm still missing the WM Twin sets) and the prices we had to pay for some basic figures ($10 at TRU, $13 at Target, $15 at SWShop) sucked ass.   >:(

did the vintage Droids C-3PO share the same artwork as the vintage Droids R2-D2??

No.  The artwork on the Droids 3PO card was different from the R2 card...

R2:

C-3PO:

I was watching that Carded R2-D2 too and unfortunately couldn't be around when it closed.   >:(

Oh well, there will be more someday...  :'(

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Hoth Wave
« on: December 16, 2005, 10:16 AM »
Looks like some details are leaking out about some of the Hoth figures since they are now shipping from Asian e-tailers and "back-door" sources...

Veers: working holster, non-removable hat

Derlin: working holster, non-removable hat

AT-AT Driver: Super-Articulated - Ball jointed head, shoulders, & knees; swivel elbows and gloves

R2-D2:  "Dirty" repaint of the EB Kit R2-D2 (which was a modified vOTC R2-D2.  I'm damn dissapointed that it is not the sneak preview sculpt.   :(

Vader: 500th Vader repaint, complete with removable "dome" (aka the top of his helmet)

Power Droid: Modified CommTech Power Droid with a new "hat".  Also comes with the old "stovepipe" accessory. so you can mix and match your Power Droids if you want...

New photos are available at that other site...

Well, since I know I'll be super-busy at the end of the month with Family stuff, I thought I'd just go ahead and post mine now...

First up, Hoth Rebel Officer:

clicky for a larger photo

PotF2 Deluxe Rebel Head + PotF2 Hoth Luke Body + Paint.  Simple, easy, effective.  Added a Maul binocular for AT-AT scouting.

Next up, Alien Hoth Rebel Commander:

clicky for a larger photo

Saga Rieekan Body + PotF2 Hoth Luke Head + Paint.  All those aliens have to be around someplace in the rebellion, so I whipped up this guy.  I kinda took an "Andorian" theme (cold planet alien) and figured they'd be perfect for Hoth troopers.

And third, Endor Rebel Commander:

clicky for a larger photo

PotF2 Endor Rebel Body + Ep1 Preview Mace Head + Saga Endor Hat.  OK, I cheated on this one and didn't even add any paint yet, but I really like him the way he is.  Adds nicely to my Endor troopers and was super-easy to make.

So, there you go - proof that customizers of every level (and mine is obviously "low" level) are welcome in this challenge.  :P

I'll probably go back and add a bit more paint detail to them (improve rank badges, change the pockets on the alien from red to something else, etc).  I know I won't have time to get to it soon though, so I consider them "finished" for now... :)

Enjoy!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: LOTR's 'The One Ring' Inscription?
« on: December 15, 2005, 04:22 PM »
Frodo: “Wait... there are markings. It's some form of Elvish. I can't read it.”

Gandalf: “There are few who can. The language is that of Mordor, which I will not utter here.”

Frodo: “Mordor?!”

Gandalf: “In the common tongue, it says 'One Ring to Rule them all, One Ring to find them. One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them. “

Or something to that effect...  ;)
