The Force Awakens / Re: Where is Rey?
« on: January 22, 2016, 10:27 AM »
They maybe could have gone with an armor-up Rey with more salvage equipment or something, but not sure what else they could have made.

Yeah, that Armor Up assortment is what seems to be throwing off the numbers in favor of the men.  You take the Armor Up figures out and it's 7 Finn, 5 Rey, 6 Poe. Pretty even in my book.

Makes you wonder why there is no Rey in the Armor Up line... especially considering her Jakku headwrap thingy would have been a prime candidate for that.  Maybe Hasbro figured girls are smarter than boys, so they wouldn't fall for the $5 gimmick armor up part like the boy buyers do. :P

I don't think those are softgoods Jeff, just plastic

Yeah, looking at some of the side views in those ebay shots, it looks a lot less like vinyl type material and a lot more like plastic... hmmm.  Still better than the sculpted t-crotch stuff at least.

I'm not sure how many characters they provide as Monopoly pieces, but lets assume its only four.  Not having Rey be one of those four is nuts.

There are 4 tokens.  Hasbro wanted two bad, two good; two OT, two TFA.

OT Bad = Vader
OT Good = Luke
TFA Bad = Kylo

That left one slot - TFA Good.  Poe, Finn, or Rey.  They picked Finn.  I can't really fault them for that based on how far in advance this thing was mapped out.  After all, the promo shots sure made it look like it was going to be a Kylo/Finn saber battle...

If it were a straight TFA Monopoly set and they left out Rey for something like Finn, Poe, Kylo, Han - then yeah, that'd be a bit harsh for Rey. As it stands... I don't see the rage.  :-\

I just wonder if they'll phase out $14 SA for this

psst - they already started that process three years ago.  Probably just a formality until they put a final bullet in it and get to blame it's death on Walmart...  ;)

OK, this is awesome - It's a working jaw!

I'm digging the slow and steady improvements to this line - first it was adding working holsters to a number of figures, then it was improved paint deco.  Then the soft good on Tasu Leech.  The removable face plate on The Seventh Sister coming this Fall.  Now it's extra "fun" articulation on Ackbar.  Really hope this is a sign that some figures will get a couple extra points of articulation or soft goods here or there.  It'll make a huge difference in the basic figure line. :)

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VIII

Can't tell if I'm bummed at waiting an extra 6 months to see Ep8 or if I'm glad they'll have more time now to really get it right.

Also would like to know more about the decision...  can't tell if it's based on a desire to separate Disney's dominance (Marvel blockbusters in the Summer, Star Wars in the winter) or if it's a direct shot off the bow of Avatar 2, which is currently scheduled to open ten days after Ep8 now (Dec 25, 2017).

Episode VIII Officially Delayed until Dec 15, 2017

Quote
Today, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII, originally scheduled for release in summer 2017, will now debut on December 15, 2017.

The move follows the extraordinary success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was the first Star Wars movie to premiere outside the traditional summer blockbuster window and smashed numerous records, including biggest domestic and global debuts of all time as well as the biggest domestic second and third weekends, en route to becoming the highest grossing domestic release of all time with over $861.3 million and the third biggest global release ever with $1,886.7 billion.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently in preproduction and will begin principal photography in London next month. Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman will produce and J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski will executive produce. Stay tuned for exciting updates in the coming weeks.

Other Collectibles / Re: Hasbro Force FX Lightsabers
« on: January 15, 2016, 02:20 PM »
does Hasbro still make the Ultimate FX sabers (the kid's size version of these?).

There is a TRU exclusive Ultimate FX Kylo Ren Saber ($65) and that's it right now.  The rest of what was out there was old stock, which has been drying up.  Sold out at most on-line shops last Fall for the most part.

Like you said, Disney has a version, but it looks like Hasbro is focusing more on the "Bladebuilders" style mashing/building lightsabers instead right now.

the show already has a baby. It doesn't need another one.

So now we all see your true colors - you hate babies on TV shows.  You're probably glad that no babies got Oscar nominations too... #ageist #babyhater

I liked it.  I have no problem with Ahsoka and CW being mixed into this show.  Really looking forward to the Skyguy/Snips reunion (assuming that's not some mind rip/dream/vision) and Ezra meeting "The Old Master". Looks like a fun ride.

Kill everybody.

Except Maggie.

(But make her abort the baby.)

Wait, you want her to abort her own baby?  You, sir, are a monster.
