Josh Trank To Direct Stand-Alone Star Wars Film

In addition to the episodes of a new Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm and Disney continue development of multiple stand-alone movies that will offer new stories beyond the core Saga. The newest director to come on board is Josh Trank.

"We're thrilled to welcome Josh into the family," says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. "He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX."

Trank states, "The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."

Trank captured imaginations worldwide with his critically lauded directorial debut Chronicle, a fresh and engaging take on the superhero genre. Trank is currently at work on The Fantastic Four for 20th Century Fox.

I still like this one...

If you want further proof of just how stupid this movie is, enjoy:

It's been pretty interesting following the latest Marvel rumors...  lots of stuff coming out of the woodwork regarding Disney/Marvel's sneaky attempts to sink Fox's 2015 Fantastic Four film.

Word is that Marvel is planning on dropping the FF books leading up to the FF movie next summer to spite Fox.

Not only are they rumored to be dropping the FF books, but Marvel has already directed artists to stop using the FF characters for sketch cards or other promo art.  The FF characters (and the X-Men, also Fox movie property) are conspicuously missing from the Marvel 75th Anniversay issue cover.

Had a dream last night that the "Cantina Showdown" pack was a 4-pack of modern takes on the Kenner Walrusman, Hammerhead, Snaggletooth, and Greedo - modern sculpts/acrticulation but the classic Kenner look/deco.

It was awesome and now whatever they reveal for this set (probably Evazan/Ponda/Obi-Wan/Luke like so many are speculating) will leave me utterly disappointed if it isn't the Kenner deco stuff.  Thanks a lot, brain. :(

I'll be interested to see what team shows up tomorrow.  The one I closed the book on after game 4 or the one that showed they are still the defending champs in games 5&6...

I think, unfortunately for you, they both showed up.

Overall a great series between two great teams, just a bummer for you Chicago guys this time around.  Looking forward to the Cup final... I'd pick the Rangers, but part of me doesn't really want St. Louis to be rewarded for his dick-move hissyfit about the Olympics snub...  then again with all the stuff about his mom passing, you kinda do want to see him succeed.

I'll pick the Kings in 6 games.

The Sequel Trilogy / Are You Spoiling Yourself for Episode VII?
« on: June 2, 2014, 11:16 AM »
NOTE: THIS IS A SPOILER FREE THREAD FOR OBVIOUS REASONS - spoiler posts will be removed in their entirety. ;)

Well, the first big test is here.  TMZ has posted a whole bunch of shots reportedly from the set of Episode VII.

Are you gonna look at them?

Are you going to feast on every tidbit you can get your hands on hoping to head into December 2015 pretty much knowing everything that's gonna happen?

Or, are you going to swear off Twitter and Facebook and ignore whole sections of Star Wars fan sites (like this one) hoping and praying to know as little as possible as you head to the theaters in December 2015?

Was thinking about this line the other day...  disappointed they haven't announced anything new for the cons this year.  There was nothing at Wonder/C2E2, but still hope for SDCC though...  maybe?  I still would really, really, really like to get all the figures they had at the 2012 SDCC display.    :-\

Just looking at that display again, they've got hardcopies in there for Tomar, Hannu, Isamot, Soranik, and Bleeze.  Would be really nice to get them, along with a Sinestro (Yellow), Saphirre Carol, Indigo-1 to help round out the seven major corps icons.

The more I think about it, a Yellow Corps Sinestro / Soranik Natu  2-pack or a Tomar/Star Sapphire Carol 2-pack would be the best thing to happen to my collection this year.

*sigh*  :(

if they start sneaking in 1 or 2 new figures in a set of 6 or 8 with a rehashed vehicle or creature?  That's just uncool and manipulative.

And yet, I see countless posts at other places where people are begging for "at least one new figure" in these sets.   ::)

I don't get the complaining about these sets being all repacks.  To me it's great - I can skip it, save the $75-125 and move on with my life.

According to Rebelscum and the UK TRU computer system, looks like there may be some kind of Cantina and Jabba's Palace/Rancor Battle Packs coming this Fall to go along with the Battle on Endor set revealed the other day...

Rise of the Clones Expansion Pack is supposed to be released today... 44 new levels.

Also, it looks like they are up to 30,000,000 telepod scans in-game.  Obviously someone is having fun scanning their Hasbro Telepods into the game. :P

Looks like the upcoming 50th Anniversary Line is going to be available at Big Bad Toy Store as well as TRU.

No idea how BBTS's prices will compare to TRUs, just thought I'd share lthe link for those looking for another option.  ;)

I thought this was only going to be $45?

MSRP is 4500 Yen (~$44.15 US) in Japan, but most Japanese etailers are charging less ($35-40).

If you order from a solid Japanese etailer like Hobby Link Japan, you can get one for $37.50 US plus shipping from Japan.

BBTS is probably buying them wholesale from Japan for $40-45 shipped to them and then flipping them to US customers with a $10-15 mark up ($55).
