Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Super Hero/Comic Book Movies
« on: May 22, 2007, 11:26 AM »
yeah...everytime I think about this it makes me a little sick.  When did our nation's currency get a "this space for rent" attached to it?  If the mint wanted to make some commemorative coins, fine.   For it to be legal tender, and an ad campaign?  Absurd.

The Silver Surfer quarters were NOT made by the US Mint.  The government was not involved really...

The Franklin Mint (a private company) took legal US California Quarters and stamped a full-color Surfer artwork on the California side.  If you look closely at the high-res image you can still see the California artwork on there, it's just harder to see with the color stamped on it.

It's kind of similar to people writing a web address or graffitti on a dollar or something.  And it's not the first time someone has done it - the Franklin Mint has been doing this for years for other promortions, it's just the first time someone is using it to sell a movie.

Target DPCIs:

087-06-1856 - 30th Anniversary "Vintage" Figures ($9.99)

Nobody's finding these for $9.99 (yet), are they?

Not yet, they are all currently ringing up at $11.99 at Target (that $9.99 price was what was in the computer when the DPCI was first discovered last winter).

Will they lower the price?

Maybe, maybe not.  It all depends on how badly they want to compete with the other guys...  no guarantees that it will go down unfortunately.

Considering the 30AC stuff is already impossible for a lot of folks to find due to the deluge of Saga stuff clogging Wal-Mart pegs, I'm guessing you'll see a lot of yes answers...  :-X

The only date associated with the Vintage figures is the date of the next Target reset...  we all know that it is totally hit-or-miss as to how strict your local store is with things.   :-\

In the next few weeks (on or around 5/27), you'll see the majority of Targets reset for the FF2 and Transformers movies toys.  At this time, the pegs for the Vintage figures (as well as the pegs for the Comic Packs) should appear.

Yesterday, I watched the final 3 minutes of the Wings/Ducks game... and then the ensuing overtime as well.  Man, I bet Datsyuk would love to have those last two minutes of the game back.   :-X

I guess the Wings have no one to blame but themselves - if they wouldn't have gone 0-for-7 on the power play, they never would have been in that situation. It will be interesting to see if the Wings have any fight left, because that Game 6 in Anaheim is going to be awfully tough to get without a LOT of effort.

Watto's Junk Yard / Batman - The Dark Knight
« on: May 21, 2007, 10:49 AM »
First look at Heath Ledger as the Joker in the upcoming Dark Knight movie.

Wow, I can't wait to see more...

I also see over there they have a report that Anthony Michael Hall has joined the Dark Knight cast.  We watch The Dead Zone on USA from time-to-time, so I am interested in seeing what they do with him.  Were there rumors of another villian out there?  Or is he going to end up as a GCPD officer or something?

For some reason, I'm very optimistic about the movie. It's a great cast (Bale, Freeman, Caine, Oldman, Ledger, Eckhart), so let's hope the actual story/script is good too.  :)

They can't even bring themselves to put "Holiday Special" on the packaging.

Maybe it's on the back somewhere. . .

. . .nah.

The cardback was shown at ToyFair.  RS had one of the most legible shots...

"The first appreance of Boba Fett was in an animation short in the Star Wars Holiday Special."

We're missing a few posts ???

Yes, a number of posts were removed since they were not about LOST, but rather some nasty PMs that were exchanged... something that should have been handled by sending a PM to a staff member rather than bitching about it in the forums.

My other question from that was were these the two "row 2 birds" that charlie woke up with in bed during the flashback about the ring?  THAT would be trippy.

I do not believe they were the same two girls...  The Looking Glass Girls -->  http://lost.cubit.net/forum/gallery/1_16_05_07_11_10_16.jpg

Ok... back on topic.

I watched the episode this AM and was a little confused... The Looking Glass thing did not play out like I thought it would.  I suppose there is still time for Desmond's latest flash to come true, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out next week.

I wonder if they will have any juicy hints for us on next week's episode  in the "Answers" thingy tonight?

Man, that sucks...  not even a theme really, just a mish-mash of jedi, sith, and clones thrown together.

Add my name to the "pass" list.

Have their exclusives ever been available online??

Some people had luck gettting the Disney exlusive Star Tours figures via an phone order number, but they have never been on-line by Disney before.

They say that these figures are Star Wars Weekends exclusive, so it will be interesting to see if they are only sold during the Weekends events or if they will filter out to the other Disney locations as well...
