Very nice...

I like this ship, and I like that you don't get stuck with a crappy pack-in figure.

Looks like TRU Japan's Website is expecting the FIVE-pack on the 11th of December!

The one we went to was in West Saint Paul.  It was like a Supermarket AND A department store mixed into one...  In fact, there is a Cub Foods on Robert Street in the spot where Zayre used to be.

I think they were bought out by another grocer chain (Ames?) and either closed up or changed over.

It didn't last too long into the 80s though.  The only reason I remember it was because the restrooms were located on sort of an upper lever/catwalk thing along the front wall.  You went up a set of stairs, past the employee break room.  There was a railing and from up there you could overlook the whole store.

Well, one time as my mom was using the facilities, I was left waiting outside with Grandma.  I stuck my head out to get a closer view and... yep.  Head stuck between the bars of the railing.  The whole store got a great view of this kid with his head stuck in the railing from down below on the store floor... :-[

I definately want The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, but I can pass on the actual penguin, Selina, and maybe movie Bats...

Unless of course it's cheaper to buy the whole set of 6.   :-X

I think they will go great with my other Bat Kubricks!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: JD Book Club: What Are You Reading Now?
« on: December 2, 2004, 02:02 PM »

I picked up this book at B-&-N last night.  I was preusing the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section when I came across it.  I remembered Scott's , so I decided to give it a whirl.

Should have some good hours this weekend to dig into it... if it sucks, you owe me $7.99 plus tax.

I think you're off the hook...

250+ pages into it and it's a great read.  Absolutely fantastic so far, I couldn't believe how quickly was I was sucked into the Seven Kingdoms.  :o  Scandal, Betrayal, Murder, Wolves, woo-hoo!

D'oh, I forgot Ben Franklin...the only store in my home town that carried toys.  Otherwise it was a 30 minute trip to the Target in Coon Rapids.  This was after we moved to the sticks from Robbinsdale and the nice proximity of Crystal Target and Brookdale

A trip to Children's Palace in Rosedale was a once every other month affair.  A trip to Target happened every other week as my Mom and Grandma needed to resupply their households, but BNen Franklin was just a bike ride away to the local"mall" if you can call a Grocery Store, Snyders, Ben Franklin, Hair Salon, and Pet Store a "mall".

There were many times I sat in the aisle at Ben Franklin wondering if I should buy a particular figure or not.  Buying it now meant that I had the figure I wanted immediately, but waiting until a trip to Target might save me a $0.50-$1.00 BUT they might not have the figure I wanted.  Decisions, decisions.   :-\

I know I grabbed Storm Shadow (v1) at Ben Franklin, I didn't care that he was almost $1 more there than Target, because I had to have that Ninja something fierce!  Same went for RotJ Jedi Luke and Endor Han, both picked up at Ben because I couldn't wait!

Sheesh... maybe we should start a "Question for those that grew up in the stone age" thread for you two Canadians.   :P

I did most of my figure/toy buying at 3 locations.

1 - Target
2 - Children's Palace
3 - Ben Franklin

A few things came from Sear's Catalog Outlet store, as well as the occasionaly Woolworths, K-Mart, or Zayre Shoppers City.

Strange to think that they are almost all gone the way of the DoDo now...  :'(

I see that they are starting to pop up on ebay.

It also sounds like they may be carded like the Animated ones were...

Other Collectibles / Re: Upcoming Playskool Jedi Force Line
« on: December 2, 2004, 11:27 AM »
AND, I broke down and purchased my first Jedi Force figure (Luke) last night.  One of the nephew's birthday is coming up at the end of the month (11-24) and it seemed like it'd make a good gift as he's got a BUNCH of Rescue Heroes stuff.

I guess we'll see if kids actually like them or not at Thanksgiving when he gets his gift!

Just an update, we gave the nephew his Jedi Force Luke shortly before Thanksgiving (11/22) and he seeemd to really like it that evening.  Lots of goofing around with Luke and his saber.

Well, apparently since then "Luke Skywamper" is seeing a lot of action.  My wife tallked with her sister today and found out that the nephew has been dragging Luke everywhere for the past week - church, grandma's house, everywhere, including going to bed together at night.

Along with the figure, there have apparently been numerous requests to watch Luke in his movies as well.  According to the sis-in-law, the favorite so far seems to be Jedi because that's the one where "Luke fights bad Vader and helps the monkeys" (I think ewoks = monkeys, but I'm never sure when it comes to 3-year olds :-\).

I guess we will have to add a Jedi Force Chewie and Vader to the loot we're getting him for Christmas becuase at least one kid seems to like them!   ;)

INCH Power Rankings

Go go Gophers, watch 'em go go go!

Gophers ranked #1 and off to a great start!  WCHA is represented pretty well with five teams in the top eight!  Very nice!   8)

I realize its different probably up yonder but I can't remember the last time I even heard about whats going on with anything in the negotiations

Not a peep anywhere...not ESPN.com, not on the news, not in the paper, nada

That is sad :'(

That's because I don't think there have been ANY negotiations since September 9th.  Hard to say anything new when the two sides aren't even talking... and that is sad.  Bye-Bye NHL 2004-05.   :'(

I guess most Minnesotans haven't really thought about it because we've got Vikings still going.  Most people I know never really cared about the NHL until January anyway.   :(

So, for now, I just content myself with this:

INCH Power Rankings

Hard to feel sorry for the NHL when the Gophers are playing so well...  ;)

If you had a Vote who would you put on your Hall of Fame Ballot?

Bert Blyleven - 5th All Time in Strike Outs and won a World Series.  Agreed, he needs to be there.
Jack Morris - TWO rings, one of the best big game pitchers of all time - Game 7 1991, baby.
Ryne Sandberg - The best 2B of his era, holds too may records at 2B to NOT be in the HoF

I always go back and forth on Goose and Lee Smith, but ultimately pass on them.  As for Boggs, he can wait a year.  I think he'll get in , but not on his first try.
