Revenge of the Sith / Re: Episode III Beasts - Boga w/Obi-Wan
« on: February 22, 2005, 11:38 AM »
So, Toy Fair has come and there was only the Boga on the beast front, no sign of "offical" pics of Yoda w/Can-Cel (or whatever that bug is called).

SW has always had a proud tradition of beasties

SW - Dewback, Ronto, Bantha
ESB - Wampa, Taun-Taun
RotJ - Rancor
TPM - Opee, Kaduu, Eopie
AotC - Acklay, Reek, Nexu

I am glad to see that RotS is no exception with at least the Boga and Dragonfly to come...  :)

I'm kinda torn on this one...

The holes take away from the look, but the fact that it can carry three troops and an astromech is pretty cool.  I guess it's another thing that I'll just have to see and hold in person to really know how I feel about it.   :-\

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Star Wars Celebration 3
« on: February 21, 2005, 04:38 PM »
Wasn't there something about "friends" passes that Fan Club members would get?

Ah yes, here we go:

Quote
Official Star Wars Fan Club members who purchase 4-day badges for Celebration III during the pre-registration period online will receive 4 Friends & Family passes that they can use to share some member benefits with non-members.

Benefits include:
1) entrance to the Convention Center during the "fan club only" hour before the center opens to the rest of the public. Once inside the center members can enter anything that is open during the special hour with no additional identification
2) Entrance into the Fan Club Lounge
3) One access to other Fan Club benefits if any are announced.

So, those of us who ARE in the Fan Club can try to help some of those who are NOT in the Fan Club with the passes.

Since I'm a member of HyperSpace (a Christmas present from family), I should be getting the 4 passes which I will gladly donate to the JD.com "Help a Brother Out" foundation to help some poor beer-swilling Canadian get in early or something...

Well, these are the same guys who stuck Jango Fett into the ESB BH wave instead of IG-88, right?   :P

I wouldn't be surprised for them to stick an ESB Yoda into the RotS mix for that same reason I guess...

or maybe Yoda uses the same "I'm picking up an X-Wing" pose in RotS and it just confused the people attending the GG booth at Toy Fair?

ps.
Still waiting for my Stormies to arrive from SWShop.com - I used the patented Brent move of "ordering in-stock stuff at the same time as out-of-stock stuff".  Man, that was stupid of me...  ::)

A little larger picture from the front page (clicky for big picture):

The more I look at this set, the more my OCD is driving me to bid NOW...  :-[

Need to hear from:
Nataku

Sorry, but I think I will have to take a pass this year.  I love Fantasy Baseball, but I've got a lot of stuff going on right now so I won't have a lot of time for the draft.   :(

If it comes down to it and you need one more team, I may be able to swing but for now I'm a "no".

Very nice!  Looks like I'll have to save up the pennies again for this one.

I like the idea of more of these sets, but with the cost being so high I guess I'd rather they kept doing carded re-paints of existing figures for the exclusives so that I could still ignore them as that is much easier on the wallet... :-\

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Toy Fair exclusive Press Kit with figures
« on: February 21, 2005, 09:33 AM »
Wow...

That is a cool looking Press Kit, makes me a little upset, but if the figures are exactly the same I guess I can pass.  The Toy Fair Vader was such a striking figure with nifty packaging (like a basic figure) that I felt I "needed" one.

Since this thing really isn't on a "basic figure" type card, I guess I can hapily pass and not need one.  Of course, if they do offer them from SWS.com or another source, you can bet your bippy I'll buy one.   :-[

Here's a nice comparison picture from Rebelscum:

2 Little Piggies

The OTC has an orange-y shirt with deco on the center plate, as well as darker green skin and yellower teeth.

Why does that hand pic for Obi1 have his EpII lightsaber and his EpIII lightsaber?

That, I don't know.

I'd guess it iss either spoiler related, or maybe due to the fact that the figure was developed over a year ago, or maybe Hasbro is just sloppy?   :-\

I think they molded the lightsabers in the hands like that because they are worried little Johnny might get a lightsaber in the eye when they do the action features

 >:(

I thought you were retired, smartass...    ::)

I think that these other figures have them molded on so when you do the "action feature", the weapon won't go flying across the room.

thanks for reading my post CHEWIE ...  :'(

According to Hasbro, this is due to some safety violation and some lawsuits that came from the Saga Throne Room Duel Vader (in the USA and Australia) and eventually lead to a product recall in Australia:

This way, with the lightsaber molded to the hand, the lightsabers will stay in their hands while they are doing the "slashing attack" action features that are planned for Collection 1 and won't be able to fling out and poke some kid in the eye.   ::)

You're turning into a regular JediMAC with your "post-first, read later" antics!

The lightsabers are molded to the hands?

Yes, you'll see this on most of the Jedi from Collection 1 who have "slashing attacks" (like Obi-Wan, Anakin).  They come with 2 hands - one empty and one with Saber like this picture from GH.com:
