The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro Weekly Q and A
« on: August 23, 2006, 04:50 PM »
So, am I getting this right? We DID send Q's on the 11th that won't be answered until Friday?

Yes, the questions we submitted on 8/11 will be answered by Hasbro on Friday (8/25).  They skipped last week due to the Holiday in RI.

One more Q for JD staff only then? Since Hasbro took a 'week off' from us are Q's backdating to the 9th of August going to be considered for the next QandA submittal?

I looked and only saw 2 Q's that I asked on the 9th(for between the 5th and the 11th)-- were you able to pull more older q's so we could have enough for that week's round?<asked under the assumption that my Q's won't make the cut because we couldn't really ask a Q from that guy ;)>

We don't just look at the recent questions asked when we plan out our submission, any questions in that whole thread (that haven't been asked by us or another site) are fair game.

I copy each question out of there and have a running back-log list of questions from both from the staff and from the forums.  That is where we draw our questions from on a weekly basis.  As Jesse said, we try try to weight the questions to find the most "bang for the buck" from Hasbro.

And since, you asked, I can tell you right now that your two questions were NOT part of the 3 that were sent to Hasbro last week.  It has nothing to do with "who" they came from, but rather other reasons why we did not choose them yet...

 - Your first question was WAY too long for Hasbro to answer.  Hasbro has asked that the questions are a few lines long max and we want to honor their request.  Not only that, but it was a question that involved sales data and Hasbro has shown in previous weeks that they don't really answer those.  Add in the whole "I think you're doing something wrong" aspect of the question and Hasbro won't take it seriously.

 - Your second question involved Beast Packs.  Questions about the beasts have been asked by other sites, and the answer is always something like "Though we understand that beast/creature assortments are desirable, at this time it appears that new vehicle assortments are in higher demand."  As Jesse said in his post above, we try to avoid duplication so we tend to skip questions if the topic has already come up.

What I am confused about, and the WSJ did not seem to say, was which new game this was.  There's a "Darth Vader" game and some sort of Force game coming out next year.

It is the game that LFL has been pimping with the "Secrets of Star Wars 07" features on the official site these last few months.  It is said to involve Jedi (hence all the force powers), Jedi Hunting, Darth Vader, and the period between Ep3 and Ep4.

Believe me, when the marketing kicks into high gear next spring, you'll know plenty about it.   ;)

If size is the problem then why is the shuttle out this year?  The X-wing has a huge box from what I hear. ???  Hasbro's logic fails me.

Size is not the problem for those because they are (or will be in the case of the shuttle) exclusives.

Hasbro has said (as Dan pointed out) that they are trying to stick to the "Starfighter" ($20-25) range for the main-stream releases.

So, if an ARC-170 repaint did happen, it would definitely be a $45-50 exclusive and not a regular release...

I think it was shortly after the big Video Game conference (E3) that rumors started popping up that the game would be like the SOTE event was, complete with figures, comics, books, and stuff...

At the E3 Lucasbooth, one piece of concept art for the 2007 Vader Video Game they showed was EXACTLY the same as the first Hyperspace image they showed pretty much conifirming that the big 2007 event would revolve around the game.

The little birdies around the 'net all seem to be hinting that 2007 will bring a LFL multi-media event similar to Shadows of the Empire or Clone Wars with a multi-platform video game, a series of novels, comic books, action figures, and possibly linking into the TV show that would hit in the fall

Of course, nothing is confirmed until we see it straight from Hasbro, but it sure looks like there will be some kind of toys for this 2007 game.  ;)

I Am Sith, I think the problem is that you posted the SAME picture twice in your post...

You say, "I got this from GH" and then just posted the JD photo of the Transformer.

I think if you go back and post the correct GH Titanium picture you were trying to show, that will clear things up between you and Slothus...

Absolutely... I blame Scott directly for my love of Kubricks.

I think he owes me like $2k for getting me sucked into those little buggers...  >:(

Kudos to ESPN for choosing to show all those Red Sox vs. Yankees games this weekend and NOT choosing a Twins/ChiSox game instead.

Why would anyone want to watch a nice Radke/Garland or Santana/Vasquez match-up (with AL Wild Card Implications) when they could watch yet another Yankees/RedSox game instead.  ::)

Why watch one of the hottest teams in baseball take on the defending World Champs when you can watch more of Boston getting the crap kicked out of them by NY?   :P

I guess maybe there is something to that ESPN "east coast" bias everyone always talks about...  ;)

In fairness though, thanks to the Yankees for kicking the crap out Boston this weekend.  Time to bury them, so my Twinkies only have to worry about getting past Chicago for that Wild Card slot.   ;D

Anyway, some fun Johan stats.

- Santana (15-5) hasn't lost at the Metrodome in 20 starts, dating to Aug. 6, 2005. He is 13-0 with a 2.03 ERA during that stretch.
- The Twins won each of those 20 Santana games, becoming the first team in the modern era (since 1900) to win 20 straight home games that were started by a particular pitcher.

Just a quick note:

Due to a holiday-shortened work week for our friends at Hasbro, the Star Wars Weekly Q&A submission that we sent on August 11th will be not be answered until August 25th.

So, no new answers this week.  Guess that means Matthew gets out of updating his mega thread this weekend (and at this point I'll add my name to the list of those who thank you for your efforts on that thread  :)).

Straight from Hasbro:

"As previously announced, we are accepting the five stickers from ANY mix of the five eligible figures. We are also providing you with an online redemption certificate that can be downloaded here. The online certificate will also be honored in place of the official redemption certificate."

So, there you go.   :)
