To me it's no risk, all reward.
In a way, yes, but also no. I still feel the same way about the original movies, but the brand as a whole feels SO much more watered down to me in part due to the prequels, cartoons, whatever else, and the name as a whole doesn't mean as much to me as it once did. I'm sure we're going to get some movies that will be a lot of fun to watch, and while it's enormously unlikely they'll ever match up to the original three, they'll be worth seeing, just because.

This is pretty amazing news, and it's either the best thing or worst thing ever for the SW brand. It all depends on who gets to helm the project and how it all comes together. I'm totally shocked, and I never thought at this point I'd ever be looking forward to more SW movies... wow.

Color me idiotic - I guess I wasn't much paying attention to all of this, as I went and picked up just the OT BDs today at Target, expecting them to have the OT extra features, deleted scenes, etc. But it's just the movies. Which I assume everyone else in the world knew besides me. And of course I didn't figure this out until I popped it in the player and saw no options for extras other than commentaries.
Not sure if I want to shell out for everything PT related, as I frankly don't care about those movies much at all, but we'll see. I would like the deleted stuff for sure, despite the fact that I've seen a lot of it over the years online.
So yeah. Here's hoping Target takes back opened discs.

Right. Because I haven't seen these movies dozens of times, and I can't possibly imagine how it would sound or look to put these changes in. I have to see them in the context of the entire movie. Ok.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong; in '95, I was mega-super stoked about them and snagged the whole lot ASAP. Just having new SW merch then was a lot of fun. But beyond the nostalgia factor, those things are just ugly all around.
