I think Owen deserves his own thread here. His work is fascinating. He wasn't going to open one, but when I asked him about it, he said sure, go ahead. So, here I am, basically kissing his ass because his work is so good - and he's humble about it. Which is amazing.
Anyways, here are a few of his masterpieces that I'd like to discuss with you guys, and hopefully even get some pointers from Owen himself.
Turmoil has engulfed the GALACTIC REPUBLIC. The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute.
Hoping to resolve the matter with a blockade of deadly battleships, the greedy Trade Federation has stopped all shipping to the small planet of Naboo. Queen Amidala of Naboo has refused to sign any treaty with the Trade Federation.
While the Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights to settle the conflict, Coruscant Peace Officer Rykrof Enloe has already returned home to Naboo in an attempt not only to warn his people of the dangers ahead, but to help prepare them for the worst possibility of all; invasion…
Well that's it for #2 - thanks Famine for hosting yet another one. Thoughts? What do you guys think. There were actually quite a few new shots in this one, but mostly because there were some shots before that were kinda blurry and I wanted to make it a bit crisper.
I don't know about you guys, but after I find #'s 41-44 and the Mustafar playset, I hope I don't find anything else new for at least a month or so. I'm in over my head with this stuff... I am sure I've spent at least $1000 on ROTS stuff so far.
Thoughts? Anyone else in this situation? Damn my failure to control my obsession.
Well here is the Special Edition of this story. No major changes - but some enhanced effects. Let me know what you think... this is the first in the Rykrof Enloe series, and takes place right before the Battle of Naboo.
CRISIS ON ABRIDON
It is a dark time for the Republic. Terrorist attacks throughout Coruscant have caused the deaths of thousands. The GALACTIC SENATE has chosen to handle the matter internally rather than take advice from the JEDI COUNCIL.
Peacekeeper Rykrof Enloe, a native from the planet Naboo, has been hand selected by the Senate to lead the Republic Guard in an investigation of the Badoo Corba, a radical group believed to be linked to the attacks. The organization has also been blamed for the mysterious loss of communications with the small planet of Abridon.
Little does the Senate know the scope of the task at hand, as the Badoo Corba organization has secretly been contacted by the powerful TRADE FEDERATION, who has an agenda all its own…
Ok, that's the original one redone slightly. Kinda fun to look back at it because it was the first one I did, and obviously I had no idea what I was doing on it.
Thoughts? Was it worth redoing the effects on it and adding in a few minor details?
Regular price is $19.99 at Kohl's (doubt Kohl's would get an exlusive, but you never know, they do have a lot more Star Wars stuff than I would have thought). If these show up at Walmart/Target/TRU, hopefully they will still be $14.99.
Pretty cool that Hasbro has done this... maybe, just maybe they will start throwing in army-builders like this to help sell vehicles.
Thought this might be a fun idea around here... Not to try and outdo each other, but maybe to see what people can come up with. Maybe we can do a monthly idea - like a category, not necessarily a certain character.
For May, maybe we can start with... create a hot Star Wars chick.
"The big surprise to many was that Hasbro really, really wants to do a big, massive, all-new Death Star Playset, cardboard dioramas, a Cloud Car, AT-TE, and everything else you could probably think of. The reasons for not seeing them produced is that they want to wait for either the "right time," or find an appropriate partner to develop the item as an exclusive, which is tougher than you might think. Creating new tools (molds) and selling through the required minimum quantity makes for a difficult time, so if you want something like the round end cap to the Cantina bar sections, start making a fuss over it and odds are you'll see it down the road."
So... is there new hope for a Death Star and AT-TE? I'm not too excited about more cardboard dioramas, but this does seem interesting... man, I hope we get a Death Star someday that is done well... and an AT-TE too. I'd rather have the AT-TE though as a Death Star playset is a lot easier to make on your own than an AT-TE is!
Other than that, basically a ton of Jedi hanging on the pegs, including the main ones in Anakin, Obi Wan and Yoda. Still see quite a few Super Battle Droids and Magna Droids as far as army builders go... and then more than a few of R2D2, Padme, Bail, Mothma, etc... but mostly the top five list that I mentioned are the hardest ones to find now in my area.
Kinda curious to see if everyone else is seeing a similar trend, something different, etc.
So, what would you say are the top five selling figures (only 1-32) in your area so far?
Well, finally an image of this thing... guess people were right, it's just a $9.99 deluxe...I would have personally rathered it be a larger version, but this is still better than the first wave of Deluxe figures. I would have rather seen this than that damn Obi Wan/SBD abomination.
Jesse - I think you would be an excellent man to do some sort of custom reviews... remember the Critique of the Week that used to go on? Well I think you would be ideal for something like that here on the main page.
You could do all sorts of things - custom figures, playsets, photonovels, vehicles, etc. - you name it.
It would be cool to start off with something like Muftak's Death Star playset he made, and then take it from there.
