I'm betting Pirates will be the biggest flick of the summer.  I have a feeling Superman is going to underperform.

So funny that after a month of constant FRONT PAGE posting about the contest, they lock the thread because, as Dustin put it,  "This thread has pretty much run its course."  And just when it was getting interesting, too...

It's funny, there was a post in the "VOTE FOR DUSTIN!" thread at Rebelscum this morning where a guy said that he just renewed his membership and USCWannabe got his vote.  But it was quickly deleted.

That would be a crappy way to win, and I'm not even sure you could do it.  Wouldn't you have to have legitimate names, e-mail addresses and home addresses for each "member" who signed up?  It's not like one person or entity could donate $800 and then assign memeberships to people after the fact.

It would be very easy.  They could just sign random staff members, friends, etc up.  OR...they could just send 40 kits to one address using a bunch of different names.  It's not about "referrals", it's about selling subscriptions, and I'm sure Hyperspace doesn't care how many go to one place, or to fake people.

I predict this is exactly what will happen, and I don't think it's a crappy way to win at all.

It's just like those mothers that sell the hell out of Girl Scout cookies during the competition and then end up buying 20 more cases for themselves (which they bring to work and sell to their coworkers) to help their kid win a prize.

Exactly.  So all the little girls who bust their asses to sell cookies so they can go on a trip or win a prize they could never afford themselves LOSE while the rich girls with the rich parents who could have just sent them on the trip or bought them the prize themselves WIN.

Crappy.

For anyone willing to trade figures for pods, what's a fair trade 1 pod for 1 figure or 1 pod for 2 figures?

I have an extra pod for trade. I'm interested in the shocks.

I might be up for trading 1 or 2 of my Shocks for your Pods...let me know what a fair trade would be for you.

Still waiting to hear back from tech support. :-\

Jeff, what is your screen name on StarWars.com--so we'll recognize you on the list?

fanostarwars

Seriously?  Why not use a JediDefender e-mail address?  Seems like good advertising...

Cool -- thanks!

Mallrats was a studio film...

There are very few true "indies" anymore.  Clerks was definitely one, Blair Witch too, along with movies like Open Water, Swingers, Pi, etc.

Yes, many studios do have "indie" divisions like Fox Searchlight or Warner Independant -- the movies they acquire are indies, while the movies they produce themselves are not.

At least, in my opinion.

I'm a big fan of ice cream, as well as those who make it.  So he's got my vote.
