The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Rumor/Speculation Thread
« on: February 6, 2008, 03:56 PM »
Also from POTF2 (and Gorkoracing)...list of figures from Chinese source:

Anakin Skywalker
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Yoda
Federation Battle Droid
R2-D2
Captain Rex
General Grievous
Clone Trooper
Ahsoka with Rotta the Hutt
Count Dooku
Commander Cody
Oddball
Super Battle Droid
Clone Trooper
C-3PO
Kit Fisto
Asajj Ventress
Destroyer Droid
IG-series Assasin Droid

Okay, let's say these are realistic style (since I'm not buying animated style). The figs I'd get from this list just based on name are:
Captain Rex
General Grievous (if corrected size only)
Ahsoka with Rotta the Hutt
Oddball
IG-series Assasin Droid (if very different from IG-88)

Whew, this would be awesome. Only a few I'd buy and none of them army builders. I might add Battle Droids if they have stiffer plastic and are more articulated. they would be the only army builder in this case and at that I wouldn't need too many of them.

Isn't Captain rex going to be the mail away figure they will be shipping through Dec 08?  Are we getting two different Captain Rexs?

I agree with Scott on the whole Anakin getting a padawan.   Isn't he just a padawan himself during the clone wars?  Or is the Jedi order so short handed they have padawans training other padawans?  I guess any new main characters are just red shirts in the episodes any way they have to be gone by the time ROTS hits.

They should be bring in characters we have already seen in the clone wars comics or expanding background characters from ATOC and ROTS.  like Oddball and maybe some of the clone commanders.  but I guess this show will be diven by the new character of the week that can be made into toys.  I can't wait for Shadow Anakin and Obi-wan to go with my shadow At-TE.

I hope they are realistic, but my wallet would love them if they were animated.  that would save me a ton of money.   Where as before I was leaning towards the rumor that they were animated. I am now thinking that they will fall more into the realistic style like Jesse was saying.  I think once the inital clone wars push this year.  The line will be absorbed into the one line and we will see waves of new clone wars 3 figures.   Do we really think after the 40 or so figures we get this year in this line they could support a whole new line of figures year after year.  Just how many new characters and wordrobe changes could they squeeze into the cartoon to support the line.  Next year we will probably see a wave or two of CW3.  This leeds me to beleive they will be realistic enought to fit it the exsiting line.

Want some toys news about indy check out this from actionfigure.com

Whilst there was no photography on Hasbro's stand, I did get chance to check out their Indiana Jones line and see a few products not previously seen before...

We've seen the Indiana Jones fgures for some time now and opinions been a bit mixed. Some people love them, some people are indifferent to them, although I've not seen (m)any peple say they hate them. Still, I'd not been sold on the new hasbro Indiana Jones range until I got to see some of the other items they're bringing out.

So let's talk about vehicles, and here's where I am very excited. Everyone remembers the desert chase from Raiders... one of my favorite Indiana Jones scenes. Well Hasbro are doing vehicles from that scene

First up is the kubelwagon (or whatever german vehicle it is); basically a german jeep with a gun on the back. I didn;t spend too much time looking at that because I was looking at the truck and being shown some of the action features. For example a whip extends from the rear axle so you can drag Indy behind it. The front grill will also spring down to recreate that part of the movie. I did ask if the door slightly unhinges but it didn't, however the rear canopy was removable to covert it to an open flat bed truck

Of course to really complete that scene you'd need Indy on horseback, which is why I'm glad to report this is one of the deluxe figures coming out. Also expect to see a German motorcyclist in this range. I also saw a set of INdiana Jones and the Arc of the Covenant, Marion and a Cairo henchman 2-pack and something that had me jumping up and down for joy: a German Soldier 2-pack. Yes, Hasbro will allow you to amass the greatest number of Nazis since the Nuremburg Rally. For the benefit of the soccer moms reading, and just in case anyone was of any doubt, real Nazis are bad, but toy german soldiers are all about discovering history through role-play.

There were no single pack figures from the new amazingly long-titled Indiana Jones and the Kindom of the Crystal Skull (or IJATKOTCS - the only movie abbreviation, that itself needs an abbreviation) but they did have the playset from the movie.

Now it seemed really, really familiar and I couldn't put my finger on it at the time but now thinking about it, I'm sure that it at least uses parts from the Mustafar Final Duel playset from the Star Wars line. You know that lava pool on that playset. That was a bubbling mud pool. In truth I was a little disappointed as it just seemed like a mountain playset, and they're never too exciting.

There was one figure on the playset though, that made me think that if Apocalypto fans were ever looking for a playset and figure, this would be ideal for them. The South American Indian reminded me very much of the ones from the opening scene from Raiders and I found myself thinking it would be great if the story of Crystal Skull somehow linked back to that opening. Got a while to wait until I find out whether that happens or not, but the figures should start popping up before then

in the future we will have life like robotic replicas of the charaters, that are perfect in every way. with voice chips and playset to interact with.

I know, I know i went over the top with the whole playsets statements.

but mark my words if Apes could rule the world in the future then we can get playsets

And where is my flying car!

So which figures looked like they are kitbashed or have some parts from existing figures.

General Obi-wan looks to be a mod clone with arc boots
Lancer looks like vitage IG-88
and the quad gun trooper is a given

Not that it makes them any less cool, or will it stop me from buying them on sight

Hey all
I stopped by wollyworld on my way to work today to find they have put out Wave 1 plus parts of waves 7.5 & 8 with Mc clammies and Mc Snowies???  Any way wave one does not scan in wally's computers yet with the exception of the Kashyyyk Troopers, which scan at 5.88.  all the other figures do not.  7.5 and the mctoopers ring up at 6.63.   But seeing as wave one has all the same assortment #.   They rang them up as 5.88 for me instead of the differnt assortment for the other waves.  ;D.   Also all the older waves still have coins and not stands only wave 1 came with stands.  and finally it looks like they are getting stock in for an end cap display or one of the center alse shelves.
They all came in a black shelf displa box that sits nicely on an endcap.  three deep and four across.   the waves are mixed though the display.   I found everyone but Vader and gree?? Strange I thought I would find vader first.  Picked up two kashyyks troopers and two tri-droids as well as more mc clammies and jango with removable armour.   as well as 21b, obi-wan, panning droid and po nudo.  Happy hunting.  I am going to hit another wally and target at lunch see if i can find gree and vader and more tri-droids and K troopers
