Power of the Jedi / Re: Masters of the Darkside
« on: May 10, 2003, 04:05 PM »
Never came across this set myself and refuse to pay the secondary market costs for it.  Since the Maul from this set is getting re-released on a Saga card in the near future, I'm hoping Hasbro will be equally as gracious and slap the corresponding Vader in as a Saga rehash sometime down the line as well.  It's definitely one of the better Vader sculpts from the pictures I've seen, and is worthy of finding it's way into many more collections than it has to date.  Here's to hoping!  Please prove me right Hasbro!

Other Collectibles / Re: Mace Windu Saber coming! Confirmed!
« on: May 10, 2003, 03:59 PM »
Cool addition to the line, and obviously a most expected one.  Refresh my memory BDW, but Mace has got a different lightsaber in AOTC, than he had in TPM right?  Just wondering if eventually we'll be seeing the Ep. 1 hilt for him as well as well if that's indeed the case.

So I guess Qui-Gonn's must be next.  That should pretty much complete the set.  Still have enough room left in your case Boba Binks?   ;)  That thing is great by the way!

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: No Worries for the Red Battle Droid
« on: May 10, 2003, 03:53 PM »
Since he's barely hit yet on the Saga card, but has been kicking around over seas for quite a while, I can understand many people's concern - especially the carded collectors.

But you're right BB, I think by the time the CW line rolls in, he should be pretty easy to find.  Not to mention he'll be included in that droid 3-pack as well.  Just silly that Hasbro's drawing the process out SO long.  No idea what their hold up has been with this figure.  No excuse really.  Let's see him, the movie's a year old already!

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Which army-builders need a facelift?
« on: May 10, 2003, 03:49 PM »
I wouldn't mind seeing all the army building figures re-released with some fresh updates and detailing to them.  The head swapping would work well on a few, and getting an ultimate Stormtrooper (Commtech was close) and Clonetrooper are a must, I agree!

The Hoth Rebel Soldier might be in the most need right now, as we're still working off the rather old POTF2 sculpt, but with his inclusion in the recent Target accessory set, it might not happen for a little while still.

I guess I would say that I was Obi-Wan Kenobi when I was a kid, because I was always trying to do Jedi mindtricks on people, along with various other cool Jedi things.  Too bad they never really worked.   :-\

But I'm still trying.  Hopefully some day my skills are fine-tuned enough with all the practice that something "Jedi" actually happens!   8)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: For you young'uns

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors!

Ah, yes.  Oh how I loved the taste of the water straight outta the hose!  Whether I was washing the car, watering the lawn, running the ol Slip'N'Slide...  Nothing like hose water to quench your thirst on a warm sunny day.  MMMmmm, good!  Still enjoy putting some back nowadays, though I'm more than a little concerned healthwise when I do so.  My how things change when we grow older!   :'(

The rest of those topics are spot-on as well!

Episode 1 / Re: The Original "Midnight Madness"
« on: May 7, 2003, 08:30 PM »
Boy do I ever remember that night!  Insanity, I tell ya!  I managed to scrounge up a few figures that were mostly bashed to death by the masses in the chaotic bedlam.  I guess what made the whole thing so surreal, was that we were all acting like the figures would never again be available after that night.  That's the sense I got anyways.

It was strange to walk back into that same ToysRUs the next morning to find a calm, peaceful SW toy section.  Fully stocked at that.  Made me wonder what the heck I was doing there the night before.  But it was a memorable collecting experience I guess, so I'm glad I attended.  Was crazy enough to hit up MM2 three years later as well!   :D

Watto's Junk Yard / How many of us are musicians?

----------------------------------

My parents made me take piano lessons as a kid (which I diligently kept secret from all my friends).  Lasted a good 7-8 years or so.  Hated it back then, but now that I'm closing in on my 30's, I guess I better appreciate the opportunity I had to learn how to play some music when I was young.  My old piano is still at my parents place, but it's still fun to twinkle the ivories whenever I head out there for a family function.

Though I can still play decently enough, and can still hammer out a nice tune or two when the situation presents itself, I've gotten a little rusty over the years.  I've given some consideration to buying a cheap piano or keyboard and jumping back into the music a little, as a form of relaxation in my old age now (especially considering it's no longer considered such a "nerdy" thing at my age).

So who else can play some music?  What's your instrument?  I know we must have at least a few guitar players here!
