Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Collecting is an Addiction!
« on: April 23, 2003, 11:20 PM »
Boy is it ever!  But there are certainly worse things to be addicted to.  Maybe not cost wise if you buy as much SW stuff as I do though!  At least it's a fun and healthy addiction.  I'm more than pleased to consider myself an addict!  I'm sure George Lucas thinks the same about me also.   :P

I so wanted to go to the Indianapolis convention last year, but had a major scheduling conflict and had to bail on my plans to attend at the last minute.  Sounds like I missed one great weekend.  Didn't hit C1 either, but I'm not so bummed about that one due to the weather.

I'm definitely going to the next one in a couple years, wherever it is!  My question is, do you think there will be any more after C3?  I sure hope so, but I doubt they'll be in 3 year intervals any more.  Maybe every 5 or 10 years or so would be my guess.

My poison of choice is usually a nice stiff Jack and Coke.  But I'm in more of a mellow mood right now, so perhaps a Black and Tan would do.  Thanks!

So when is this brawl taking place between these 2 guys?  Or did I just miss it somewhere?  Always up for watching someone take a good beating!   8)

The Prequel Trilogy / Why didn't the Geonosian Warriors fight?
« on: April 23, 2003, 08:22 PM »
An interesting question popped into my tiny brain today when I was thinking about the arena battle in AOTC.  Considering there were probably tens of thousands of Geonosian Warriors in attendance at the execution gone bad, why didn't any of them fight when all the Jedi subsequently showed up?  The Jedi just wound up fighting all the various droids.  I don't recall any of the Geonosian Warriors getting involved.  Are they just a bunch of chicken $h!t sissies, or what?  Did they all just bail the arena at the first sign of the Jedi?

Fighting on a level playing field with a bunch of droids would be way easier than fighting those same droids while getting attacked from above and all other angles by hundreds/thousands of flying Geonosian Warriors.  Bad tactical war strategy on their part for sure!

Or am I just completely missing or forgetting something?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Do you say Pop, Soda or Coke?

I'm a "pop" guy myself, but I think it basically breaks down to what region of the country(s) you're from.  Very few areas probably have much of a mixture of the various choices.

I even know places where they use none of the above, but instead call it a "cola".

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New JD poll: Most wanted VEHICLE!

I'm going to say the Cloud Car just because it seems the most feasible for Hasbro to make.  Very odd that they have not done so yet, considering the reasonable price point for which it would likely sell.  I'm sure it's on the way pretty soon though.  That sail barge there is pretty awesome though, but way to big for Hasbro to make and a smaller one might look strange next to the skiffs.  But I'd take one anyways.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Jorg Sacul AFA u 100

That's totally crazy!  I'm lucky that a friend bought me one when he went to the convention last year.  Barely worth the $10 there, let alone $1,000!  Some people never cease to amaze me though.

I think using AFA is silly when it comes to the modern figures, but it's a helpful guide to some of the older vintage collectors though.  Definitely costly, but good peace of mind if you can afford it.

Glad the red droids have finally shown up here.  Has anyone else found these yet?  I heard that they've been floating around the Orient for several months now but for some strange reason they didn't make it into any stateside case assortments.  I was starting to wonder if they ever were.  Let the hunt begin!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What does your JD forum member name mean?
« on: April 22, 2003, 08:40 PM »
My name was actually created by my girlfriend (soon to be fiancee) and is a strange concoction of Star Wars names that melded into this one.  She tries to learn some of the characters names, and was trying to list a few one day several years ago and somehow came up with Snively Bandar as one of them, to which I laughed.  I think she somehow mixed up Sy Snootles, Max Rebo Band, Dash Rendar, Dengar, and I can't remember which others.  We both thought it was such a funny sounding name, that we've used it jokingly ever since!   ;D

Newbies / I have arrived, but everyone please stay calm!
« on: April 22, 2003, 08:32 PM »
Hello everyone!  Thought I'd spend a couple days catching up on everything here before I properly introduced myself.  Found my way over via a post in another forum.  Must say your site looks great and I look forward to spending some time here.

I've been a long time collector since I was a kid, and have been collecting most all of the 4" figure stuff from the modern line along with a few other odds and ends.  I've surfed various SW sites and forums for a while, but never felt like actually posting, but figured I'd finally give it a shot.  Hopefully I made a good choice here at your site!  Guess that's about all.  I look forward to getting to know you guys and sharing in the Star Wars knowledge here!  Oh, by the way, my real name is Grant.  But you can call me Snively if you like!   8)
