The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Walmart CW Octuptarra Droid
« on: September 23, 2009, 02:47 PM »
Another one I'm sitting on the fence regarding buying or not. It's a pretty droid, but $35 pretty? Hrm...  :-\

I think my hard sell is the fact I picked up two BMF's last Jan at Target for $35, albeit on clearance but... I might stay on the fence unless I see this going somewhere, but as of now a few stores have sold a couple each and the rest are sitting.

I still think you just need to go back one page in this thread and look at those pics and you will be more than willing to shell out $35 for the Oct Droid.

I also got my BMF for $35, but it is a totally different scenario when you get something at final clearance price.

What's truly mind blowing is the price some of these figures are selling for alone on eBay. I mean I saw a Wedge that ended at $61!!!  :o

That's outrageous. Maybe if you are high on crack when you are buying stuff on ebay that kind of thing happens.

Where'd you find it Jason?  Just wondering what stores I should be looking at.

Not sure about your area, but this wave has been most plentiful at Target stores around Minneapolis.  Good luck!

Except for the ones we visit, Justin.  >:(

I'm thinking "plentiful" is a little bit strong of a word.

Still haven't seen this one and I'm thinking it could be a while. The Shadow ARC is collecting dust at every big box store around here (and we have many). I'm really curious to see what XMas brings this year. Usually XMas brings out the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles who clean shelves of whatever is on it. Though with so many people just struggling to makes ends meet will the same happene again this year?

I think it's the only way, short of clearances, to get the Shadow ARC off shelves.

I worked for Target for years and can't think of more than a couple instances where Target will put a specific item from an assortment on clearance. Because they put DPCIs on clearance not the specific item which would mean the Y Wing would be marked down too. And they can't change the DPCI since they come in the same assortment.

The Dolphins run the Wild Cat well and shouldn't stop running it, but man do I hate watching it. It's not even NFL football. It's like watching a college team play an NFL team.

TRU came through again this week as I found one Geonosis Assault BP. I found and received too much crap this week to really enjoys it. While I am thankful I am finding everything I want I really hate the onslaught of releases after the long drought.

How did I miss this drought you speak of?

I remember in 2002 when I complained about the mini turrets how I was ridiculed by people for it, and I got the "you should just be happy they're making these for our gunships at all" speech...  Kind of funny how times change and whatnot.

Is there an implied "I told ya so" in there? Because I think the statute of limitations for "I told ya so" is only five years so you missed it by two.  ;)

You'd think with Megan Fox's new found stardom from Transformers that she'd get something better than "Jennifer's Body". That looks like it could be one of the worst movies ever.

As I've stated before I really like BPs because they set up some classic scene for you. However, that works when you are doing it from the movies, but when we start getting too many BPs based off of 23 minute TV episodes I think they've even lost me.

Birth of Vader-Huge important event in SW universe.
Tatooine- first Jedi Sith duel in forever

The other 2 - a couple of scenes from the TV show. Not really on par with the first two. Cool way to get a lot of cool figs if your a kid but not scenes of enough importance or no new figs for me.

That's the first thing I said when I saw this last night and my wife looked at me with her "man I can't believe I married such a nerd look."

Just got my Rex/Fives WM 2 pack and Geonosis Testie BP. I like the BP a whole lot more than I expected. It's bigger than I thought it would be (yes that sounds creepy, and yes to fit a fig I should have known it would be that big).

I could see following the numbering thing if they were putting more than one of new figs in a case so there were two repacked/renumbered figs. But this crap where they have six new figs at one per case and then six repack/renumber figs would (if I ever was) stop me from even thinking about it.

I actually saw this for the first time in Walmart last night (figures, after ranting about it) but in a cruel twist of fate they only had one on display and the box was damaged. Not acceptable.

I always freak out that stuff will be tough to find and of course at some point it isn't. But my normal rule of thumb as a non opener is buy it when you see it, even in a beat up box, and then exchange it for a better box when you find it again, JUST IN CASE it really does turn out to be tough to find. I'd rather have a crushed box than none at all. My two cents.

Just picked mine up. Excuse me for being to lazy to go back one page and give the right person credit, but if it wasn't for those awesome pictures posted showing this thing relative to the ATTE and Tank, I would think I just spent $35 on a regular, not so exciting vehicle. Thankfully I know how huge it is.

My point being that I think Hasbro really missed the boat for selling more of these by not showing how big it is or stating some dimensions on the box.

Once again thanks a lot for those pics on jd!!!!!!!!

The Vulture's Claw set is kind of the anti-that...  And then the stuff like the Palpatine's Office Duel set is pretty lame top to bottom and easily passed on by just about everyone.

I like a BP like the Palpatine Duel because as a non opener it let's "me" set up an important scene without actually opening any figs.
