The Vintage Collection / Re: 2012 - "One EU Figure In Every Wave"

Can you block me from being able to read this thread?  ;)

I don't know if I have the energy to stick up for EU stuff this much.

He's number two in almost every career WR statistical category to Rice. Or was when he retired, but is still close with all timers only passing him.

How was he a #2 WR? For the Vikings?

I may have misunderstood what you said.

It's a joke. I get angry every year at this time over it. There is zero logic. I think it's 100% because he wasn't liked by the people who make the decision. To me it makes the NFL look bad by not having him in their HOF.

Three "people" that apparently are all that matter to the force? Light person dead so, oh now we know why Anakin turns into Vader. But otherwise know one else knows about these people or cares if they do.

When does Luke go to his force planet and defeat the darkside person so he can defeat the Emperor and turn Vader back?

This story is just too out there (and I love me my EU stuff).

Who is Nom Anor ???

An excellent EU character. If you hate EU then you won't care, but I don't hate EU and loved his character.

I don't hate EU, I just don't bother following it much at all.  I do think it can be a pretty dicey proposition for a Hasbro toy release though (yes, even moreso than a Willrow Hood type of release) simply because I think a lot of fans are out there like me that don't have a clue or follow EU at all.  I readily acknowledge there are a lot of hardcore and dedicated EU fans but I think they'd be a subset of what Hasbro views as collectors and we all know how much they aim their stuff at collectors.  So I see it as a subset of a subset and that second subset gets some love, but not as much as the kiddos.

I agree that Hasbro would lose big if they did this a lot. But how often do we get an acutal EU fig? Using the definition that CW isn't EU and especially OT isn't EU. So every once in a while isn't gonna kill anyone. I just think some of the outrage that people have is humerous. I have to poke a little jab in at them. Let me have my figure and then I'll wait a while for the next one to come.

I love a great upgrade to Han or Luke, but I also like to add a new character to the collection here and there

Yeah, I loved that he was "playing both sides" but really just in it for himself. I did like the Vong (I don't watch Star Trek since apparently they were stolen from that which I'm told every time I say I like the Vong) and Nom was my favorite Vong.

I don't disagree with a non Christian movie doing better, but Lewis was a Christian author so of course he wanted that message out there. Tolkien wasn't. I love LOTR. Like Narnia. But I'm all for a Christian author writing a Christian story.

I'm gonna get yelled at for off topic soon.

The latest Narnia movie tanked big time.

Maybe people over the age of 13 realized this was just a thinly veiled Christian parable and churchy God stuff is not nearly as cool or interesting as actual sword and sorcery/fantasy stuff?

Any religiousy type junk like that can be the kiss of death for the fanboy set.

C.S. Lewis never meant for them to be thinly veiled. The first two were Christian parables (as all the Narnia books are) and did just fine despite being "religiousy type junk" as you so eloquently stated.

Did anyone else hear Welker's "foot" interview? That was ingenious.

I still think you need to put up great career numbers AND be one of the elite at your position for multiple years.

So Alomar yes

Bert no.

Individual Figure PT: Should not be on "Vintage Cards"

Amen.

Dear Hasbro:

Please continue to make PT items on Vintage cards that have never been on Vintage cards before. If you get access to a time machine and can actually go back to the 70s and 80s then please don't add PT stuff to those.

Sincerely,
Me

Twins' lose Crain and Guerrier (as expected). Not very confident about our pitching this upcoming season.
