Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Star Trek

I got this on DVD a few weeks ago.  I have watched it at least 3 times.  I love the movie.  Of course we got a new 46 inch TV with help from my parents.  So, that's another reason.  It just looks gorgeous on there.  Anyway, yeah there were very minor things I did not care for but overall I think it's great.  It was my favorite movie of this year but quite a bit really.  It certainly freshened up that franchise.  To bad the toys tanked though.

It sounds like they are going to make more recognizeable EU figures like Guri.  I would be all for that.  While they are it they can add Joruus C'Baoth.  I am sure there are people that don't know who either is but at least both are main characters in their respected stories.

I hope so.  I am tired of all the plain R2's with different coloring, etc.  Let's get some sensorscope, pop-up light saber, saws, rockets, sockets, etc going.  I know some of those features in the films piss people off but R2 needs to get a bit jazzed up.

I would be pretty excited for a Death Squad Commander if that pans out.

Well I really want the exclusive and the chair, but Jesus that's a lot of mula to fork over.  Why in the hell is the Emperor $90.00 to $94.99?  I know they are a small company and all that jazz but come on that is more than an armored figure.  But damn it looks good!

The Vintage Collection / Re: Big Items of the Future!
« on: December 17, 2009, 05:54 PM »
Obviously the problem with big ships is the price themselves.  I think the interest was there for both the AT-TE and Falcon but they were both released at the same time during a bad economy.  I thought they sold pretty well despite those conditions.  But I am sure many would not pull the trigger on a $175 Falcon.  Yeah, even $100 is a sticker shock for the AT-TE.  But many of us bit the bullet because we really wanted those two items.  I would probably be inclined to do the same with an all new AT-AT.  I might cringe at whatever price it is but still buy it at the regular price.

Here is the problem with the Turbo Tank.  It just does not have near the demand as those other three items would have.  Naturally you were going to get the interest from OT collectors for a new Falcon with all the bells and whistles after 30 years of the vintage mold.  It was time for an update.  Overdue in fact.  Of course there was a huge demand for the AT-TE built up since AOTC came out.  Then it got the push it needed with the Clone Wars series coming out.   I just don't feel the NEED to rush out and plunk down $100 on the Turbo Tank.  Although I admit I want one and I am glad they made it.

However, after hearing people get an AT-TE for $15 or the more likely $50 just simply by waiting a few months well that's what I'm going to do with the Turbo Tank.  Hell the Falcon is over 50% off to.  So, why would I run out and buy the TT for $100?  We all know it will get clearanced for half off and people like me know it and are just going to wait it out  I know I should not because supposedly Hasbro will not make more big ships in the future.  Well the hell with that because they act like they are not going to make them anyway.  The only other big item I would really want is the either the Jabba's Sail Barge or Death Star Playset/Dioramas.  Secondary would be the Blockade Runner and Droid Transport MTT.  But they always act like it's impossible to bring those items out.  So, where is my incentive to rush out and pay $100 for the TT?  Geez, they won't even make a Death Star Playset/Dioramas.  If they won't come out with basically THE most iconic vehicle/playset of the entire saga why would they make a Sail Barge or anything else regardless?

I have not bought to many legos but that Wampa set looks like fun.  I never did get that massive Death Star 2 set.  Someday.

Well on good bit of news for the Sail Barge is that Hasbro does seem to want to make it.  Based on their previous comments.  I really think the only shot at it though is a re-release of the OT in the theatres or if it comes into play in the Clone Wars series or both somehow, someway.  Then again if they release the films they would probably focus on the same vehicles again - Falcon, X-Wings, Ties, etc.  I would hope they would finally get to some sort of Death Star playset(s) or environments.

I guess it would depend upon the price point.  If they ever made the Sail Barge it will be scaled down and probably alienate a lot of collectors.  Or the price would be so high that it would just go straight to the clearance aisle like the Falcon and AT-TE.  Although I think initially both sold pretty well around my area.  I don't see tons of these rotting on the shelves.  Then again I can find them easily.

Anyway, one of glimmer of hope is they could make it like the Cloud Car and cram in a whole bunch of weaponry on the Sail Barge.  I don't know it seems like a long shot but so was the Cloud Car.

Yeah, I got Luke the other day and came with the orange astromech.  I was slightly disappointed as I want the blue one more.  Sorry, I don't know the names of the astromechs they all blur together for me after awhile.

I skipped it up until a few weeks back.  I actually liked it because I thought it would be really bad.    I did not really care for the accelerator suits and some other things but overall it was a decent action flick for me.

Yeah, I never sniffed a $15 AT-TE.  The lowest I have ever seen has been the standard $49.99.

I can't really trust Hasbro when they state they are not making something.  They denied the hell out of that Cloud Car and here it comes.  Same with the Big Millenium Falcon and AT-TE.  Yet they will show figures at a convention and then not sell them.  Odd.

Damnit Scott now you make me want to buy a bunch of these now.  I was just going to bite the bullet and pay $25 for the Luke and be happy with one.   I hope they re-release Luke via single pack.  I am not to sure they will.

I half wonder if it's going to show up in the Clone Wars with all the weaponry on it.  Just kidding but I am happy they found a creative way to get it out to those that wanted it.  It looks like the guns and stuff will be hidden if you don't want them out.  I am looking forward to the break apart feature even though of course it did not blow up in the film.  Anyway, it's a nice surprise.
