Modern Classifieds / 12" VOTC Boba Fett in blue jumpsuit
« on: August 4, 2004, 08:36 AM »
I'm looking to buy the blue jumpsuit Fett from the new 12" vintage line.  Box condition doesn't matter but if someone finds them in the store, I'll take two so I can display one loose in front of the original.

Please pm me or post below if you can help.

PS:  I'd be happy to trade a 'grey' Fett (MIB) for a blue one if this helps someone out.

Conventions / San Diego Comic Con 2004

I was just curious if anyone was going?  We might find ourselves out in CA about this time (July 25-27th) and it would be cool to hit this show one day as I need to grab  the Master Replica exclusive mini saber.  I've never been to this before but I know some people that have and said it was a blast.

Watto's Junk Yard / Chuckle for the day
« on: April 23, 2004, 08:51 AM »
Well, I did it again.  I was so excited at finding the Lord of the Rings figures yesterday afternoon, I wasn't paying a ton of attention to what I was doing.  Our new Walmart is the "hot spot" of the city and every person that owned a vehicle was parked there.  I was in the back forty and still pawing through my bag when I walked up to my car, fumbled for the button on my key ring to unlock the door and pulled it open and hopped in.  Imagine my surprise to find an old man sitting in the passenger side!!!! (Imagine his surprise to have this lady hop in to the drivers seat).
Yah...you guessed it...WRONG CAR!!!  I was two more over.  I almost died.  I starting to apologize and could feel my face turn eight shades of red.  He just started laughing and invited me to stay.
In my defense, the cars were the same thing!!  It's not the first time I've done this...probably not the last either. :)

Other Collectibles / Chef Boyardee cans
« on: February 24, 2004, 06:41 PM »
I like to collect some obscure stuff and this is one of them.  Has anyone seen these yet??
Cartoon Network - Cans

It isn't that I want the prizes (but I'd take a high defination TV), it's the labels that I'm looking for.  I can't imagine storing the full cans themselves but I suppose you could.  I think it's rather a cool marketing idea, reminds me of the C3PO cereal and the Lay's potato chips "pogs".

Jocasta's Reading Room / Japanese Cover Art
« on: February 14, 2004, 08:47 PM »
I just got my Insider today and fell in love with the cover art of the New Jedi Order series.  I wish there was some way of getting each book, as the jackets are spectacular!!

Next up is an email to my aunt who works at B & N to see what course to take to see how I can go about purchasing these.
Anyone else think these are better than the US versions??

Watto's Junk Yard / Trick or Treat
« on: October 22, 2003, 05:03 PM »
It's that time of year again.  Time to buy a ton of candy for the little ones and fight with the dog and cat every time they hear a knock on the door and try to attack the innocent kids on the other end.

I swear one of the pets gets out every year.  I put the dog in pen and somehow, she manages to wiggle out.  I can't stand the racket they both make if I lock them in a room so I just wrestle them for control of the front door.  You would think the cat would run, but she just goes nuts when people come to the front door.  She sits on the railing and plays "gargoyle", starring down all the little kids.  The dog, basically, wants the kids to pet her....candy is just a bonus.

I spend about $50 bucks on the little bags of "snack size fun" bars and I think we eat a few bags before Halloween arrives.  (It's amazing the little mouse holes I find in each bag ;) ).   I still give cash out to the kids that come in Star Wars costumes (one year I gave a little boy a buck with his candy and he came back the next year with the same costume....the Dad that was with him told me he made a special point of wearing it again and coming to our house - good thing I still had some money left!!).

I love Halloween.  I love costumes so I think that is why I like the holiday so much.  It was always a huge deal in our house when I was a kid (my brothers had the greatest gory costumes) that it has carried over in to a big tradition here.  I have so many costumes; I could dress the entire neighborhood (and usually do when we all go out).

So...what does everyone else do on Halloween???

Watto's Junk Yard / I've done it, I've finally done it!!
« on: August 17, 2003, 09:21 PM »
I've made my husband in to a Master Of The Toy Section!!

All these years of silently following me around toys isles, watching me dig through toys I had no interest in to see if anything was hidden, harassing clerks with scanner guns to look up UPC's to see what's in stock, casually pretending I'm looking at stuff nearby and then snapping up the item when the child/parent/employee puts it down - my husband has finally mastered the tricks of the hunt.

He came home today with toys I had been searching for and a tale that almost bought tears to my eyes. ;)

When he didn't find the toys on the list I gave him at one of his many pit stops from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the New Jersey shoreline, he recalled some of the things I normally did and set about doing the same thing.  He sent my son to scour other sections as he tackled the Barbie isle.  Not only did my son come back carrying the Helms Deep 5-pack that was stashed above some type of infant toys, he scored the elusive Eoywn figure hidden backwards in the "girl" toy isle.

And then he says that they put their gear in the trunk and the toys on the back set, so they wouldn't get smushed or anything.  What a guy!!

I'm so proud of what I created.....the last one has now completed the test.  All four of us are now certified MOTTS!!

Jocasta's Reading Room / Force Heretic III - Reunion
« on: July 9, 2003, 02:22 PM »
I just found this book at Walmart today.  I thought Refugee was a good read so I am loking forward to this one.  I'll post again when I get finished.  Is there anyone that has kept up on the Vong series?  I still have to read "Shatterpoint" but I'll read this one first since Refugee is still fresh in my mind.

« on: June 19, 2003, 08:21 PM »
I don't know if anyone reads this strip on a daily basis but I have it delivered to my email box daily and this weeks strips go back to the beginning of 1978 when he was first created.  I have a HUGE Garfield collection (he has his very own Christmas tree) and now that I learned how to post pictures, here is today's strip!

Newbies / Another newbie has landed
« on: May 8, 2003, 04:20 PM »
I had an invite from T-Bone to check this place out and I liked what I saw so I decided to join in the fun.

I hail from Michigan (Upper Michigan to be exact) and have been collecting star wars since..oh before most of you were born  ;).  I got my first taste of it in the summer of 1977 when my brother sent for me to come downstate to see it (we only had one theatre here at the time and he knew it wouldn't arrive until July or so) and have been hooked ever since.  I was lucky that my older brother was a collector of stuff already and so he just expanded on the Star Wars line.  When he passed away in 1990 my parents let me keep that part of his collection and it has really taken off since then.

Well, thats the scoop on me.   I'm looking forward to finding old friends on these boards and making new ones.
