Watto's Junk Yard / Web help
« on: June 28, 2005, 03:15 PM »
I'm thinking either Dean Paul or Angry Ewok would know this, but if there's anyone else who has the answer, please chime in.

I'm working on a website, and I want to add one of those cool little icons to the beginning of the url in the url bar. I'm pretty good with html, and I use photoshop and illustrator professionally every day, so its just a matter of me not knowing this one thing.

Is there any sort of info online for how to do this or (if its not a problem) could anyone give me a step by step tutorial?

Thanks!  ;D

Hey Hasbro! / Could you possibly make a good Mace Windu?
« on: May 12, 2005, 05:07 PM »
What's up with the Mace Windu's you've produced? Either his eyes are closed or he's just completely useless due to an action feature that doesn't really work in the first place. I understand your rhetoric about making figures for kids, but couldn't you make one Mace that's of the same quality as your highly poseable Collection 2 figures from ROTS?

Also, Obi-Wan keeps getting the proverbial shaft as well, but I'll let someone else campaign for that.

Watto's Junk Yard / Princess, Please read...
« on: April 24, 2005, 09:01 PM »
Hey, I'm so sorry I walked right past you on Saturday night. I was distracted by the fact that I'm not the only one with an "OB/GYN Kenobi" shirt....and there was also the scotch...  ;)

Anyways, great meeting you (as I'm posting in the meeting people thread), but I thought I'd post a special one for you since I was walking around completely oblivious to the world. My girlfriend filled me in on just how oblivious I was, and I wanted to let you know I wasn't being a snob or anything. :-[

The Prequel Trilogy / Anakin's Immaculate Conception, Not So Holy?
« on: February 1, 2005, 05:40 PM »
I just inundated myself with the spoilers from main page of MilleniumFalcon.com, and I had an intersting idea. I'm sure someone else has drawn this conclusion, but I haven't seen it anywhere.

In the spoilers, there's the idea that Darth Sidious was the apprentice of Darth Plagueis. Apparently, Darth Plagueis learned to control the force to create life. Sidious learned the technique from him before he killed him. I then started thinking about the whole "virgin birth" thing, and wondered if we'll be discovering that Sidious created Anakin through the force. It certainly would be the "holy ****" moment we've been missing with the PT.

Anyone else thought about this?

Nerdy Nuisance? Jawa Sandcrawler sparks Township Debate

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Not so long ago in a galaxy far, far away - or just southeast of Philadelphia - Mike Degirolamo had a plan.

He wanted to build a 20-by-12-foot model of a Jawa Sandcrawler, a hulking transport vehicle from the original ``Star Wars'' film, before the next installment of the saga ``Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith'' opens in May.

To get the project done, he doesn't need the Force, but rather the power to persuade the township council it's a worthy project. The council is planning a special meeting to discuss whether Degirolamo will be allowed to erect the model on the property of a local business.

There are two concerns about the proposed meeting of the fantasy and real worlds, according to township community development director Ed Sayers.

First, the property is in a historic redevelopment area where the Sandcrawler might not fit in architecturally. Also, it could be a liability.

``This is certainly one of those gray areas,'' Sayers said. ``This could wind up being an attractive nuisance and a safety concern if kids try to climb on it."

Why doesn't he just make something that the average citizen of his town would recognize (and possibly be more open to) like the ******* Millenium Falcon? This sounds like the "Taintive IV" [sic] all over again.

Jocasta's Reading Room / Heir To The Empire series...
« on: October 13, 2004, 03:10 PM »
I read Heir To The Empire and Dark Force Rising back when they were first released (early nineties?), but I never got around to reading The Last Command. I recently dusted off my copy of Heir To The Empire and burned through it. Now I'm about 1/4 of the way through Dark Force Rising, and I even ventured off to the bookstore to pick up The Last Command. I have to say that I'm enjoying these books.

I've read a bit of the EU stuff, and to be honest, alot of it makes my stomach turn. IG-88 in the Death Star 2? Boba Fett as Dengar's best man? Xizor responsible for the Owen and Beru's deaths? Borg-like aliens trying to take over the galaxy? Ughhh. I've read alot of the comics, and I generally like them. Some of them I don't like, but for the most part, they're pretty cool.

What I like about the Thrawn trilogy (I think its referred to as that?) is that these books are built off the movies themselves. My problem with alot of the newer EU, is that its built off stories that are kind of poor to begin with. This makes them a bit too convuluted for my taste.

Anyways, my question is to all you guys who are very familiar with the EU material. I noticed there's a couple books at the store which seemed to take place directly after these. I think they were Specter of the Past and Vision of the Future. Are these a 2-part series? Would someone who doesn't like to dive too deeply into the EU enjoy these?

Also, I'd like to hear what the rest of you have to say about these books.

Original Trilogy Collection / Troopers
« on: October 8, 2004, 11:13 AM »
I'll start this off by saying that I've been playing probably way too much Battlefront.

Now that Hasbro has shown that they can give us excellent troops when they try (SA Clone and VOTC Stormie), what troops would you like to see revisited in the SA style? Possibly even a seperate line from the main line? Obviously its not really a necessity to have an SA bespin guard, but there's plenty of troops I'd like to see revisited, even more so after playing so much Battlefront (so be prepared to see lots of troopers inspired by that ;D ). Many of these could be created using the SA Clone and VOTC stormie as a base...

* Repackaged SA Clone (I don't think there's one collector on Earth who doesn't want more of these)
* SA Clone with Red markings (packaged with sniper rifle ala Battlefront)
* ARC Tooper (using SA Clone body)
* SA Clone with Yellow markings
* SA Clone with Blue markings
* SA Clone with Green markings (packaged with removeable jet pack and EM rocket launcher)
* SA Clone Pilot (SA body with SAGA pilot head and control panel)
* Scuba Clone!!!

* VOTC Stormtrooper (packaged on a normal card at a normal price point)
* Sandtrooper (VOTC Stormie body with pauldron and cooling unit backpack, packaged with binocs, blaster rifle and large repeating blaster)
* Snowtrooper
* Biker scout (it would be cool if it was also packaged with a sniper rifle, in addition to the normal Scout trooper pistol)
* Dark Trooper (I hated this thing until I played Battlefront, which has it as more of a heavy armored stormtrooper with a jetpack)
* Imperial Naval Trooper (removeable helmet and holster for blaster)
* Imperial Officers!!!

* Rebel Commando (no preposing, just an awesome, SA rebel commando with removeable helmet and weapons)
* Rebel Fleet Trooper (I don't need him to hold his gun in two hands, but there should be the articulation to allow it. Removeable helmet with chin strap)
* Rebel Hoth Trooper (Throw us a ******* bone with this guy!!!)
* Rebel Pilots (generic, SA rebel pilots with removeable helmets. All different wings)

* Battledroid (Can we finally have a battledroid that stands up without drooping over? Packaged with Sniper rifle or rocket launcher ala Clone Wars)
* Super Battledroid (The correct color and without droopy legs. Including the correct articulation to pose when firing)
* IG Droids (the black ones from Clone Wars with lots of articulation)

Well, that's all I've got for the moment. Anyone else?

Original Trilogy Collection / VOTC & VPTC
« on: September 29, 2004, 02:16 PM »
Okay, this is a hypothetical question. Say Hasbro called you up to choose the next line of Vintage-esque figures. You have to choose 4 from each movie, and this includes the PT and the Clone Wars. And since its hypothetical, lets say the price point would be closer to $5. Here's mine...

TPM

* Qui Gon Jinn
* Darth Maul
* Droideka
* Battledroid (great articulation & harder plastic)

AOTC

* Obi-Wan Kenobi
* Jango Fett
* Count Dooku
* Anakin Skywalker

Clone Wars

* Assaj Ventress
* Padme in Snow Gear
* Arc Trooper
* Mace Windu (Vader-esque shoulder armor from cartoon)

ROTS

* Anakin
* Palpatine/Sidious
* Wookiee Warrior
* General Grievous

ANH

* Grand Moff Tarkin
* Rebel Fleet Trooper
* ANH-styled Vader
* Tusken Raider

ESB

* Rebel Hoth Trooper
* Imperial Snowtrooper
* Admiral Piett
* Leia (Hoth)

ROTJ

* Emperor's Royal Guard
* Luke Skywalker (no tunic)
* Biker Scout
* Bib Fortuna
