They had the holsters on in the movie for some reason...  It's a matter of accuracy ultimately I suppose.

Now the nerd in me really wants to spout off about how Destroyers can be boarded, gun turrets are also surface weapons (the Endor Shield Generator MOdel actually had several ground turrets around it that were obscured by the forest scene overlay) and things...  But I'm gonna supress my inner-nerd for you. ;)

It's funny how the DSG turns out to be one of the greatest army builders the company ever put on the pegs...  yet is probably a dull character choice really.   I'm ecstatic though so long as I can find him in bulk.

Oh and they DO man the guns more directly than the guys working the big turbo lasers.  In ANH there were the guys manning the small turrets that got blasted by Luke and all.  That's seeing some up close action I guess...  :)

Oh I agree there's a chance that they might see some action (other than being on the losing side of a proton torpedo), but all in all, these guys are kind of useless (as action figures) without a turret of some sort to use. Though I will have to repeat, they look really cool just standing around, which is what I have them doing right now. Mainly I just want some sort of turbolaser or gun emplacement made for these guys to sit at.

(Jesse, you've known me a few years now, and that should be long enough to know that you don't have to suppress your inner nerd!)

I have 3, I'm hoping to get 6. But I was thinking...though this is a cool figure, its not really that exciting of a character.

Seriously, these guys just sit in a command center and pull a switch. I don't even understand why he has a gun. The most action we've seen from these guys are when they're manning a turbolaser. But even that is pretty safe for them. They're inside a Death Star or Star Destroyer. The chances are almost zero that they'll ever see any action up close. For me to have any real satisfaction with this figure (other than the fact that he looks really cool just standing at attention), Hasbro has to release some sort of turbolaser for him use. Even if its some sort of bastardized EU-ish gun emplacement that he can man...anything.

At this point he's like the cloud car pilot without a cloud car. Imagine that? Oh right, we can...

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Ultra Line in 2007?
« on: August 18, 2006, 03:23 PM »
The ultra line is one of my favorites...so many great possibilities. I guess some of my top choices would be:

• SA softgoods Emperor with throne (I REALLY want this!)
• Nute Gunray with mechanochair
• Death Star Trooper Commander with command station
• Obi-Wan Kenobi (Pilot figure with softgoods robe) with Eopie and baby Luke
• Cantina "booth" with cantina alien (they could keep releasing this with a new alien)
• Han Solo with Bespin torture rack
• Biker scout with NEW speeder bike
• Cantina Denizens (Dice Ibegon, Reegesk, Rycar Ryjerd)
• Toryn Farr with command station
• Geonosian Orray with Picador

Why do they all have DC-15s?

Why do they all have any guns at all?

It's not like they used any in the movie, so who gives a **** if they're the "correct model number" or not?

Jeeeeezus.

I have to agreed with you here.  For ****'s sake, there is nit picking and then there is just bitching.

Seriously. ******* relax man, you'll just have to learn to live...day to day...

I'm so ******* excited by this...but how hard are Diamond exlcusives to get?

You can also do another layer to add light effects to the person shooting the force lightning, to make it more real. After all, lightning would cast light (and create shadows) on the person shooting it.

I saw these yesterday for the first time in person... man this is such a waste to me.  I never really liked the Clone Wars version of the ARC Troopers, and to have to get several of those just for the Gatlin Gun Clone isn't worth it to me.  I passed, and am glad I did.  More for those people that are ARC Trooper fans I guess... but these just seem way too cartoonish.

 :)

I'm with you CHEWIE...I passed on this thing too. It just seems like a huge kick to the nuts to me.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Endor Wave

We already have that Vader though...mine has been holding the Emperor over his head for a few years now. Does there really need to be a Vader in every wave? Oh well, as long as he sells I guess...

Blast from the past!!!

I guess I got 50% of those jobs done. I made a normal Lobot and a normal DS trooper (though its actually a ROTJ DS trooper). I'd better get my ass in gear and make some alien senators. But first I have to finish Jabba's palace.

At least its better than Lucas' original idea of using a dwarf to play Luke...

No love for Bossk? (He's my favorite bounty hunter)  :'(

I'd love a VOTC IG-88. Especially since the plastic would likely be a stronger one, and they could add some articulation overall. Zuckuss and 4-LOM would also be very cool, no matter what you named them.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Why no Battle Droids?
« on: June 30, 2006, 11:00 AM »
Yeah, I think its about time we got some nice, sturdy battle droids. Fully articulated and well-painted. I really need some troops for my CIS army, and I haven't been thrilled with the battledroid figures that have come out so far (with the exception of the Security Droid). I just hate having a figure that I've paid $6-7 for made from the shittiest plastic possible. We really do need some higher quality plastic in this line, particularly where the structural integrity of the product is concerned.

And I really ******* want a good Super Battle Droid...seriously. Every time I watch AOTC I wish that my SBDs looked as cool as the ones on screen. I don't need them to explode or shoot rockets, I just need them to look really cool.

"I really dont pay much attention to details on some of these figures.  The POTF Imperial Officer IMO is close enough to the Imperial Commander to cross off the vintage figs that need to be remade list."

The guy that Hasbro made in the POTJ line wore a jumpsuit and had big gloves on. When pictures of that figure first showed up, most of us didn't even know who it was.  The Vintage figure wore an outfit just like Ozzel, but all black.  To me, they are like night and day.  I know I sound nit-picky, but Ilike the minute details.

Yeah, I'm with you Mike. We need some black tunic Imperial officers to fill out the ranks. Right now, we have troopers, techs (POTJ "Imperial Officer") and Admirals. We need some low-level officers. Maybe even some of those Imp officers with the silver boxes on their belts ("Inform the commander that Lord Vader's shuttle has arrived").

Sure they're going all out this year, Ruiner, but they haven't been so keen on giving us ships in the past.

I think this set looks great. I haven't picked up a snowspeeder yet (for some weird reason), so I'm really excited about this. I'll also have a rebel pilot body to use for new echo base rebel pilots.
