Well, due to the high import cost surrounding the Kubricks and the general yen VS us dollar nonsense, this is the best we can get - A coupon code for US$5 off any Kubrick purchase.   The code is valid until the end of March 2010.

NCS Coupon Code  GC813479702855416

Not much, but its better than nothing....  the search for a cheap source continues.   :-\

I tried using this code just now and it says it's invalid. Did anyone else manage to use it?

But of course you only get enough for 1 complete set of 6 even when you buy a box of 12, since they pack in multiples of some figures but only one of others.

As much as I love BBTS, $200 for a box of 12 kubricks is pretty outrageous.

I imagine most of it is just because he's copying from other auction listings and the language barrier is getting in the way.

The same seller has a listing for all 6 basic figures and Jabba for $89.90. Even with $25 shipping, that seems like a pretty good deal. But on both auctions he has this:

Quote
Will ship within 30 days of listing starts / item released.
Pre-order item will require immediately payment and is non-refundable.
Welcome to my auction!
This is GUARANTEED 100% AUTHENTIC MEDICOM PRODUCT , NOT BOOTLEG!
If you are Star Wars & Kubrick fans, DON'T MISS THIS BIG CHANCE !
This is released in JUNE 2010.
This price include every character printed!!

If you are worrying about my few feedbacks, please tell me.
I can wait your payment untill I send this item, if you are good buyer.

So i'm not sure what to think. Even if he is willing to wait on payment, I'm not sure I'm willing to put my fate in the hands of a newbie on ebay.

I'd really like an Oola and a Malakili, personally. I guess that's more of a request than a prediction. ;)

I'm tempted by your offer to get the basic figures, but I think I'll probably have to end up getting a box of 12. I like trying for chases, and I kind of want extra Jabba parts as well (although that depends a little bit on which parts are going to end up being extra). Hopefully we won't be missing a section of Jabba himself or something.

I'm a little surprised about how Medicom is handling this cardboard base issue. You'd think they would understand that their customers would want them.

I do think it's a tribute to that, although using the POTF2 diorama directly with the Kubricks might not work that well. The scale will be off, and you'd have to remove the cardboard throne. Still, I suppose you could make it work. They aren't expensive.

BTW I'm starting to think that the Jabba parts may not come with the individual figures at all, and are just going to come as one set per box of 12.

Here's a little wrinkle that I haven't heard about before. According to the Japanese text appearing underneath this image at the ToyWorld site, there is a cardboard background based on Jabba's palace, but there's only one included per master case!

Translated this reads: "In each master case (which consists of 4 inner boxes of 12 figures, for a total of 48), there is 1!!! Deluxe Display Base (cardboard) that is designed to look like the inside of Jabba's palace."

I really don't know what to make of that. If they're packaged outside the boxes (as opposed to being inside one random box) then I imagine the only way to get one will be to buy a master case or pony up a large amount on ebay. Doesn't make sense to me to do it this way, especially since a cardboard background is so cheap to make.

Got the Rebo Band set today in Tokyo. I wasn't really even looking for it, but I've wanted one for a long time and with the Jabba wave coming up I really wanted to get my hands on one. It was the equivalent of $150, which seemed reasonably good considering how much it's been going for these days, so I jumped on it.

I also have all or most of the LOTR Minimates. They're not bad, but not as good as Kubricks. Then again, they are much cheaper overall.

I'm collecting mostly Jabba-related stuff these days, so I've been keeping an eye out for the Jabba marb and finally found it tonight. (I think a lot of the problem is that there's not much turnover with these, so once one sells out it takes forever to get a replacement). I agree with everyone else that these are too expensive, but I would like the Ziro the Hutt one for my collection if anyone wants to get rid of theirs. PM me.

I think it's pretty clear from the info Medicom has released that we're getting 1x figure and 1x Jabba piece in each box.  The Medicom website clearly (well, as clear as broken English-Japanese translations can be) says:

"When the bonus part which belongs to each box is combined 'JABBA THE HUTT (TM)' you complete!"

A bit better translation would be:

"Combine the bonus parts that come in each box to complete Jabba the Hutt."

The way it's written in Japanese implies to me that you will be able to complete Jabba without worrying about finding the right parts, but it's hard to be 100% sure.

I still need to get one of these, but the prices on ebay are getting ridiculous. I'm afraid it'll just get worse after they release the Jabba stuff. What is a good price to pay for this now? I suppose ebay is my only choice?

I just toss all of the boxes immediately. I don't really feel any need to save them, although some are kind of cute. They just take up too much space. I know this is a contentious issue, but I don't see how you can really enjoy them without opening them up. Just my opinion.
