The Original Trilogy / Re: It's a trap!!
« on: October 8, 2008, 04:00 PM »
I would expect that they would have been greeted with a recording of Vader standing over a bound Han Solo demanding the surrender of the Rebel Fleet, if it was the case that they'd already been captured.  But what was being jammed was the sensors that said whether the shield was up or down.  If the Imperials wanted the Rebels to surrender they wouldn't have bothered to jam that reading, they wouldn't have jammed.  They would have demanded a surrender, or simply attacked.

Not directly in line with what you were going on this, but you mentioned the Federation ships used by the rebels, in the book Death Star, the rebels launch an attack on the nearly completed Death Star by loading a couple dozen squadrons of X-Wings on a old Trade Federation ship and then launching them all at the Death Star.  The huge number of Tie Fighters take out the X-Wings and the Superlaser destroys the Federation ship.

Some of the Rebellion era comic books use Federation, or atleast Federation looking ships as the capital ships of the Rebellion.

I don't know if the movies should be edited to include those ships, but I would certainly think atleast some Federation ships survived.  Take Mon Mothma's line about the Empire's fleet being spread across the galaxy in a vain attempt to engage the rebellion.  I take that as a sign that the Rebellion wasn't throwing every single last ship at the Death Star.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Anakin vs. Sidious
« on: October 8, 2008, 03:35 PM »
I'd say yes, he probably could have taken him right there.  However the reason there are always two Sith is because the master represents the power and the apprentice craves it.  The apprentice probably could frequently "take" the master, but the apprentice hadn't learned all they could have from the master, so the master is still needed.  At that point Anakin still needed the knowledge that Palps claimed to possess, so they both knew (at lease Palps hoped) Anakin wouldn't try to kill him them.

A fair fight might have been more of a toss up though.  Remember Obi-Wan gets sent to fight Anakin, because he couldn't stand a chance against Palps.  Then Palps doesn't move to help Vader until he's already wounded, that way he'd be less of a threat to Palps.

And of course if the apprentice tries to kill the master and instead gets killed themselves, the master picks a new apprentice.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Jabba the Hutt Battle Pack.
« on: October 7, 2008, 04:24 PM »
I think I would be interested in a Jabba battle pack.  It is a little surprising they are doing an animated version first, but then again, they probably can reuse the dias again with a realistic version, right?

As for the Clone Wars figs stinking up the pegs, I think its the first Legacy Legends figs and the Legacy Wave with Yarna that are responsible for that around my area.  I've actually had a hard time finding the latest was of Clone Wars figs, and the only ones I see in any great number is the Clone Trooper and R2-D2, other than that they seem to be selling pretty well.  I think they'd do better if the stors did a better job of separating the figures by series, but the sure are moving...

The Legacy Collection / Walmart Droid Factory Sets -
« on: October 7, 2008, 12:13 PM »
What type of build a droid would be in this set?  Would it be another protocol-style droid?

Maybe it'll just be a big holographic head.  :-\

But is he secretly a jedi too?

I've never felt the need to collect all the Cantina or Jabba's palace aliens, but Brainiac is very cool looking, plus the build a droid for this wave is very sharp looking.

The Legacy Collection / Re: TLC "Scramble on Yavin" Battle Pack
« on: October 6, 2008, 04:12 PM »
Its a torque wrench  ;)

I think this would be a great opportunity for the various major retailers to do an exclusive.  The shown set (with the red R5) for Target, Walmart could have the Blue R3 we see in the background of ANH on the Death Star, and ToyRUs could some other droid (I'm not clear on what their main color is).  It wouldn't be a huge investment, just a couple repaints.  I'm sure a lot of collectors would pick up all three and the grandparent/parent demographic would still buy at atleast the same rate as this set would currently sell at.

What kind of knee joints are those?  Are they very-well-hidden ball joints?

The WM I was at last night had taken the display of these from the end of the isle where its been for about two months now, and put it on the top shelf where only the 6 footers could reach, the thing is they were still at the regular price  >:(  I had been wanting to get a couple more of these, but didn't want to pay full price on them.  Oh well, keep waiting I guess, or if I never see them on sale, that'll be ok too.

Yah but why does Wioslea need to look so nutty looking? He/she has his/her toung stuck out and eyes pointing in different directions. Very Jar Jar.

Well, she might have spent some time in the Cantina before Luke and Co. got there...  Yeah, I was thinking they did a poor job with the figure because of the eyes, until I saw a reference photo.  Kind of looks a bit "Muppetish".  Was George Lucas channeling "Sweetums"?

So anyone else get the vibe that Angela is pregnant.  She's been hooking up with Dwight, and during the weigh-in said that her doctor wants her to gain weight.  I mean, she's petite, but not scary small, so I think its because she's with "Shrute". :)

I liked the way Jim proposed, very much in keeping with how their relationship is, not too formal, but very much focused on all the little things, like where they first ate lunch together, etc.

One of the best scenes was when Holly tried to stop Angela from yelling at Kevin.  I am surprised that Dwight wasn't again punished by Michael for that, like maybe he'd have to make him breakfast, in addition to doing his laundry, plus that way Michael won't burn his foot again (Win-Win-Win).
