Kubricks / Re: Recent Acquisitions

I got the Aliens Power Loader set yesterday.  As far as Kubricks go, this isn't a bad value IMO.  Man I would kill for some Colonial Marines. . .

Buddy of mine hooked me up with C-3PO, Lando, Ewok, Jawa, Storm Trooper, and Death Star Gunner last week, and I've got about 10 more Star Wars Kubs in the mail.  My Kubrick collection just keeps growing and growing.  Soon it will rival my other toy collections :o

I can see these being in pretty high demand when they come out and I'd rather not try to get one on the bay.
Seems like the DVD might be coming out around that time. . .

Typically I would agree about the be@rs, but the "Why So Serious?" bear is a must own.

--edit: these are now available for pre-order from Big Bad Toy Store for 35 bucks each--

I'm hoping you mean 'Spirit of Yoda' and not Obi-Wan...  While I like the Spirit of Obi-Wan figure, I wouldn't classify it as awesome myself ;)
No, I meant Obi Wan (I can't afford Yoda!).  And I do think that it is awesome, with his awesome translucent blue skin and white outlines of spirit-ness.

Out of curiosity, why is Yoda more awesome than Obi-Wan  ???  He doesn't even have any cool, white outlines indicating that he is clearly a scary ghost, and not simply a blue gelatin muppet.

They weren't going to honor the price from January and now you can get it for cheaper on ebay than the prices they have listed now anyway.
This is the thing that bothers me the most about this whole situation.  Pre-ordering from anyone can be somewhat of a crap shoot (even with the typically reliable BBTS, as has been noted here).  However, if you are going to allow people to pre-order something for a certain price, then in my opinion, if you eventually can get that item, you should honor the price that you initially listed it at for those who pre-ordered it for that price, even if you don't make much of a profit on it.  That part of it puts a bad taste in my mouth regarding this company.  It was their mistake listing something they either couldn't get a hold of, or couldn't sell for their listed price, and they should eat some of the cost in order to do right by their customers.

OK, thanks.  I guess there is just no easy way of ensuring that you get all the chases (or, at least, without a truly massive overhead expenditure).  If I ever decide to rob a bank or invent a newer, better heart or something, I may go ahead and get all the Star Wars chases.

Thanks DSJ, would you not have to order 8 total boxes to get the "master case" of all the figures (including the 1/96 chase)?

Are the 1/96 chases random across master cases, so that you couldn't, say, pick up 2 and expect to get a 1/96 chase?

It makes no sense- even at Ebay prices the buyer would  be wayyy better off picking up a master case and the (assuming old patterns come back with this series) the one chase they need. And all of these sets of 9 from series 8 and 9 going for sky high prices hasn't altered the price of what a set of 6 goes for. So assuming a set of 6 would have run about $50, that's $470 spent on just the chases.
How might one go about obtaining these "master" cases?  Is there a website that offers them?

Kubricks / Minimate Charitymates II: Support the WWF!
« on: July 9, 2008, 02:09 PM »
Not that WWF!  If you or someone you know likes cool mini-figures or animals (particularly if they somehow like both!), then please check out the auctions here:

Charitymate Animals!

These were all custom Minimates created by the talented customizers of the Minimatemultiverse, and most of the money goes to a great cause in the World Wildlife Fund (and a bit of it goes to another great cause in the upkeep of the Multiverse).  Spread the word to your friends and neighbors!

But he is is always the highest for quite a while, and he appears to enjoy gloating with the pictures of piles of Yodas, Han Carbonites, etc.
I didn't realize that was him posting the auctions with pics of piles o' Yodas  :D

That is kind of rubbing our collective noses in it, isn't it?  He probably swims in a giant pool full of Kubricks, a la Scrooge McDuck with his money vault.
