Google lists it as http://phgeek.com/

This is correct. the Ph. is for style purposes, like Ph.D. Hence, dissertations in geek culture. Potential contributors seem to be finding it just fine.

Was in on the panel here at NYCC last night. Good stuff.

Decent if slightly retread presence for Hasbro Star Wars at NYCC. If anything, I think they could've create more buzz with an exclusive. Obviously they care more about pushing same other lines right now, even though the 3-D stuff will hit before The Avengers, etc.
Was nice meeting a bunch of you and look forward to possible contribution and interaction at PhGeek.com.

And that pretty much guarantees I'll never go there.  :D

Well, I know you kidding as you're sure that I was as well. Sorry I plugged our site twice in an hour. Didn't think I was breaking a rule written or unwritten to try to get people to check out our user-driven content. There were threads that dovetailed with things we are doing on the site, that's all. Didn't see any harm.

Wait what was your website again? Maybe you could plug it a few more times. The two posts in the last hour and the link in your signature weren't enough for me to remember it.

Oh, I'm sorry you didn't get it. It's called Ph.Geek.com. Thanks for asking.

Hey guys,

Our weekly Ph.Geek.com podcast went up today and it is really a prequel to our coverage this weekend of the New York Comic Con, so you may want to check it out. Last weekend we went to the Garden State Comic Con to kick off the con season before it peaks locally with NYCC. Anyway, feel free to check out the site and maybe answer our weekly question or participate in Weekend Free Writes. Podcast can be found through a link on Ph.Geek.com, through iTunes or at http://phgeek.podbean.com/. Look for us at Comic Con in our Ph.Geek polos for stickers and other geeky things to get excited about.

I'm going to wear a black tshirt with Wolverine on it and not bathe... I should stand out right?

Or, I'm getting a shirt printed up that says Jedidefender.com on it.  If you find me you get drink tickets.

Who knows....

Yes once we get a list of who is going to be in and around I will PM you guys my Cell Phone number (feel special yet?) and we will try to hook it up.

I was going to try to set something up at a bar, but instead we can just figure it out when we get there.

Michael Rex, be warned my wife wants to meet you.... and she will probably come to the Happy Hour so everybody feel free to bring a plus 1....

I just don't know what my availability will be guys given the amount of work I'll be doing. I will try to meet up though.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases
« on: September 20, 2011, 06:16 PM »
Ok, so it's my fault.  ::)

There is a well-documented history, both recent and historical, of Clone Wars figures that are extremely hard to find at retail outlets. This dates all the way back to the last red/white wave with Hondo and Aayla. A lot of poeple NEVER saw those figures. Granted that was the last wave before a packaging reset, but the problem has continued. Many people have never seen a Season 3 Ahsoka on the pegs, or a Commander Colt, and that was like 5 waves ago now. Those figures have been in circulation, albeit crapy circulation, for months now and it is not getting any easier to find them.

These newer waves have a short shelf life. They do not hang around long and NEVER seem to ship in quantity. The distribution is extremely spotty at best. Whether it be Hasbro or the retailers themselevs, the new product is just not making it out to the consumer. So if anything it is this reality that creates the exaggerrated sense of urgency on the part of collectors.

If I had any confidence Seripas would be as easy to find as Season 3 Obi-Wan, I would not sweat it, believe me. But anyone who is playing close attention to this line will know this is not the case. There are no guarantees anymore that all the figures will be plentiful going forward. For all we know hasbro is cutting back on the production numbers to create more of a demand.

So I don't think you can blame collectors for wanting the new figures as soon as they start hitting, that's the midset that has been created because of the awful distribution situation. Fans should not have to ever resort to paying "scalper prices" or ordering cases full of old figures they no longer need. Not everyone has the luxury of overspending in this economy.

Is an online collector's forum not an appropriate place to vent about toy distribution? These are the same complaints that have been going on for months, so I don't get why that should come across as abrasive to anyone. I don't come in here to start a bunch of crap, really. My only point is that things seem as bleak as I can remember as far as the distribution situation for this particular line. It makes me wonder if we won't see a similar "carry-forward" strategy for some of the harder to find figures from this line as they are doing with TVC next year.

Dan, thanks for the lone voice of support.  Pete - I know you have my back on this too. :)

I agree with a lot that you're saying. I go out hunting a lot too, it must just be my mindset that if I don't take anything home with me that I don't take it home with me, you know what I mean? Distribution's totally screwed up on top of poor case packs but, as pointed out above, we're heading into the holiday season. I'm honestly not worried. We'll see another endcap tray deal at Wal-Mart with Colt, Riot Clone, etc.
I hear your vent, I wasn't trying to stifle it, it just felt a little too life-or-death. It's times like these maybe we should be on the lookout to help each other out a little more.

Found remnants of TCW Wave 10 at a local Target today. All they had left was a Hondo and a couple of El-Les'. They must have gotten in two cases. I picked up the Hondo, although I really have no use for him so will probably return. I already have an open one and a carded version from the first run.

I just checked this store Friday and they had nothing, so this is really a kick in the nuts in the worst way. You can't even get to this store on a weekend the traffic is such a freaking nightmare.

Naturally I ran around like a maniac and hit four more stores on the way home to no avail. So it looks like I missed my chance on these. God knows how long it will be before I see anything new on the pegs again.

I keep thinking things have gotten as bad as they can get, but then they get worse. It really did not use to be such a losing proposition trying to find new figures. It's crazy, you can hit multiple stores every day for weeks and still completely miss everything you want by taking ONE Saturday or Sunday off. Plus this whole "one Target got the new stuff and the other 13 around here got jack squat" is just baffling to me.

I keep hoping things will get better but we're almost into October now and these last few waves have been out since August, and I've yet to complete a single wave. I've never even seen remnants of Wave 12. It's just not fun anymore.

You really do need to calm down. If it's not fun anymore, perhaps you need to take a break and/or leave this HOBBY altogether.

I hesitate to post out of fear of jinxing myself, but any word on who won the contest that ended Mon., Sept. 12?

My local store put out the same 4-sided display mentioned by DoctorPadawan above. I saw it on Thursday originally and found the newest wave of CW figures (updated Rex, snowtime Kit, etc) including a lone shirtless Savage but I stupidly passed on everything due to the ridiculous $9 prices. Of course when I went back yesterday for the sale they were all gone.

I hate to say it, but you are probably SOL on those new CW figures for that store at least. I spoke to a TRU manager yesterday who indicated that they got 2 new TCW cases along with the 4-way display, sort of as a package deal. (It's not like they got that sweet new 4 way and coincedentally got 2 new cases of Wave 11 to throw up there) This sucks, because once those 2 cases sell through, which generally happens in a matter of HOURS, they really are unable to restock with any more new figures after that.

I've been to 4/5 TRU's within 75 miles of here, and it's the same story every place. They put out 2 cases of Wave 11 for the 4-way, and then nothing. No restocks. The fifth TRU, which ironically is the closest one, is the only one which inexplicably has failed to put up their 4-way display. This is literally my last hope for finding Shirtless Savage and Seripas. Because I know those guys are never showing back up at the 4 TRU's where I already missed them.

I've yet to see a single online store report from anyone who went back and found MORE of these figures at TRU after they initially were stocked. If you blinked, you missed them.  :(

I think you're being a little Chicken Little-ish when you say you know Savage and Serpias will "never" show up again at your stores.

Yes, this sure is awesome! Thanks for even offering us the opportunity, Paul!
With that said, hope I win. ;)
