From what I can see, this thing is sitting. I was surprised to see it still at TRU.

Haven't seen one yet. Been looking pretty hard too. Have $50 in rewards certificates specifically earmarked for this.

One of my absolute favorites as a kid. Still trying to track a decently painted one down.

I like these, I guess these two sets are almost like next years TFU multi-packs.

I seem to recall a while back that in a Q&A, Hasbro hinted that they were working on a way to get some more Rebel Pilots out - I guess this is what they were working on.

The inclusion of the Clone Pilots is also interesting, if these come out during a similarly "dead" period that TFU packs came out, I may pick up an extra opener of each set so that I can give the Biggs & Hobbie proper TIE Pilot helmets....

Word to that. Those open helmets suck.

Well, comics used to be $.25 and now they're $3.99, so I guess that's inflation for you.   :-\

My parents gave out original vintage figures for my fourth birthday party as favors. They were that cheap.

I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass - but are we sure this is the number?

I called four WalMarts this morning and all four of them told me that this number wasn't even in their system.

Well, that saves me the trouble of PMing you that number if our Wal-Marts aren't recognizing it. What's w/ these UPCs?

Picked up a MIB one today, I really think they did a great job with this figure.

I'm really surprised that they churned out a character from the Republic Heroes video game so quickly. It's a fun game, and he's a pretty formidable final "boss", so it's neat that Hasbro zeroed in on making this big guy.

Gonna hold off until the promo starts and see if I can score my opener as a "free gift with purchase"...

Do we know definitively that he will be part of a promo, Pete?

I'm down for the vintage version.  Any word on the SRP?

I heard $120

Where did you hear that? $20 for a cardboard box?

I don't really think the CD DVD comparison works on this one as it's a different animal altogether. With DVD and CD releases, the release dates are hyped up, like an event. You see them advertised all over the place, to the point where each store has a specific exclusive version of the item to entice you to buy from them. You know weeks to months in advance when that movie you're waiting for comes out. Most stores even have charts and posters advertising the dates. If the movie gets put out early, even a low level stock boy would probably notice pretty quickly. And at no time during the wait for these new films are there empty shelves being held back for these new items to be placed, they'll fill them with some other movie in the mean time. And even if that argument doesn't hold up, well, I'm pretty sure that CD's and DVD's aren't shipped to the stores months ahead of time to collect dust in the back room. Hasbro shipping these boxes to retailers so early is just asking for the street date to be broken. How many store managers just saw that there were empty pegs and told the stock boys to fill them, they might not have noticed the "do not put out" sign, they probably didn't even think of it, because since when do toys have release dates like movies? Although I agree that Hasbro doesn't have to say screw it, it's well within their right to make them take it down, I just don't think it's right to penalize stores that just might not have known any better. But who knows if they're even doing that, at this point it's just speculation and rumor. I like to think they have better things to do with their time.

I could not agree more.
In this economy, with people losing jobs all over the place, if you have something that somebody wants to buy, SELL it.

Just took a look at the VTC ROTJ wave slide from the slideshow and noticed two interesting things.

First, the slide identifies this wave as Wave 5.

And it comes in January!

This is very confuzzling. Being that the Ep.III wave comes in late August, what in blazes is going on here?! Are there a few "mystery waves" that Hasbro has yet to tell us of? Maybe a CV reveal?

Yeah I think that was a typo.  ESB wave 1 is out now, 6 weeks later is ROTS wave 2 in mid-September, and then by November 1st-ish we should be seeing ROTJ wave 3.

I think we'll find out about waves 4/5 at CV.

Yeah, which makes Hasbro's math fuzzy if it's 37 figures in 2010.
Does that number count TLC?

As disappointed as I was, it does seem that Hasbro was holding back a LOT of info, and they also kept dropping hints.

Like?

Ha!  I got the whole Vintage wave with the 2 for 9.99 deal.  Awesome.

How?

I wonder if his father's aware of it, either when it happened or after the fact, or is just too trusting.  If he isn't aware, at some point he'll probably find out and it'll be interesting to see what he does about it.  Hey- maybe it wasn't the kid!  Maybe it was the contractor!!

Either way, it's pretty pathetic. As a society we are just to accepting of theft. A number of kids were caught stealing out of the cafeteria line at school this year and there was NEVER any police involvement. How are they ever supposed to learn?
