www.thegd.com has pics of the Harad Archer and Armored Pippin!   :o  Both look fantastic except the likeness on Pippin is a little... off.  Maybe it's just me.  Can't wait to buy LOADS of those archers.

UPDATE!  SPOILERS!

I hear you on that, Nicklab.  The Academy/Hollywood does have an unspoken bias sometimes against outsiders, not to mention good ideas.

As for why the articulated Gollum looks like Smeagol, I have no idea.  I have the sense that we'll get a Gollum variant of this guy soon enough.

It could be those things, but Gladitor won, and it was made in Malta amongst other places.  The English Patient won, and was made in Tunisia and Italy.  All with Hollywood money, like LOTR has been.   For my part I think it's the same gentryed snobbery that exists in publishing.  If it's popular, they reckon, it can't be good.

I think it's all of the above.

I've been feeling a general type malaise about SW for a while now.  I found the new Emperor wave at Target a few days ago and for the first time since 1995 I left brand new SW figs and didn't look back.  Part of it is little money, no space, and characters I care nothing about.  I'm really excited for Bail Organa and Obi Wan Nightclub and the Hoth group, but these three, yikes.  And there's also the fatigue factor, and there's always too much of a good thing.  I'll always love SW and SW toys, but everyone needs a little break.

The 9 pack is definitely worth it - especially if you snag it for $25 like HMI did.  For me, the real reason to buy it was Boromir and Legolas, who I could never find.  The subsequent Legolas figs are better than this, but this is him in his pre-Lothlorien get up.   If all you want is the Fellowship and a few others, you can't go wrong.

I actually don't mind the bendy version(s), but I haven't seen the articulated one yet so I can't say.  I'll likely buy it because the only bendy Smeagol I'll have otherwise will be on my wall.

I was thinking also, I really hope TB does an armored Gondorian Soldier, 1) just because and 2) so I can do a custom Armored Boromir.  Which got me to thinking:

Spuffy's LOTR Wishlist

Armored Boromir (TTT:EE)
Amon Hen Boromir Resculpt
Helm's Deep Uruk Hai Warrior w/ The Works
Amon Hen Aragorn
Elrond Council Robes
Armored Gondorian Soldier
Harad Archer
Arwen Departing Rivendell w/ Lantren
Eowyn White Lady of Rohan (white dress)
Denethor

If they released a 9 pack of Uruks, I'd absolutely plotz.  Actually, they could probably get away with something like it through an exclusive.  Look at all the exclusives multipacks that were up for preorder at Outer Reaches a while back.  A little retooling here and there, and bang, three or four Uruks.

I love this guy, but I still think one of the biggest oversights in the LOTR line so far has been an HD armored Uruk Hai.  I don't know what is holding TB back from making a figure they would sell the crap out of.

Crossbow Uruk Hai is out in the Phillipines.  Should be here soon enough.  He's fantastic!

Thanks for the support, guys.   ;)  I shall keep the faith.  I guess I should be happy for getting two great Eowyn figs after getting none last year.  That was real despair.

All this Eowyn talk only makes me more sad.   :(

Oh, well.  I did get the TTT DVD last night and that gave me my Eowyn fix for the moment.

MisterPL beat me to it.  To me, it's the same argument as wanting the original OT on DVD.  It's about perserving the film, either for posterity, or for your own viewing pleasure.  I'm looking forward to both.
