And I ain't buyin' into all this Nuggets are great crap.  I think they played way over their heads last year (like Memphis), and even though the addition of K-Mart should make them better, I still don't think they'll find themselves in a much better playoff position in the West, if any.  I think the Nets are gonna be hit hard by Kenyon's departure though.  With him, I'd still have them right near the top in the East, but without him, I think they'll be battling hard for that last home court spot in the first round of the playoffs.

The Nuggets need a couple of things to happen to move much higher in the west this year:

1) Marcus Camby has to stay healthy.  All this about a deep frontcourt will be for naught if he's not playing in long stretches during the season.

2) They have to learn to win on the road. Like most young teams, they play so much better in front of the home crowd.

The addition of Vlade should really help the Lakers out. He's got some of the best court vision in the game, regardless of the position.

We do this thing at our games where once side of the stadium says 'Game' and the other side says: 'Cocks!' Suffice to say, it's more than enough to make someone who isn't familiar with USC to laugh.

LOL! That reminds me of a game at UD my Junior year. We were winning a game  by a ton of points and we happened to be playing Morehead St. the following week for the lead in the conference. Needless to say, chants of "We want Morehead!" echoed from the student section.  ;D

I've got two teams, one Division 1A and one Division 1AA  which represent my two schools:

I have a bad feeling about this year, especially if Jeremy Bloom isn't allowed to play.  I can't believe that someone's head didn't roll during all this crap of the last few months... I'm still debating about whether to get tickets this year or not. The only games I really want to watch are Texas, Kansas St. and Colorado St.,  even though those may all be fairly lopsided results.

Coming off a disappointing 9-2 year where we didn't win the Pioneer League for only the second time in the last 7 years. Hopefully, we can go 9-1 and win the league, but I don't think we stand much of a chance at Yale this year. (UD is a non-scholarship team; Yale is the only scholarship team we play this year). Yeah, I know that a thread about college football isn't complete until the Pioneer League is discussed.  ;)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: iPod-racing
« on: July 19, 2004, 05:09 PM »
OK...I'm an idiot when it comes to iPods in general...two simple questions.

#1 How easy is it to download your CD's to the 'Pod
#2 How do you play the thing in the car?  Is it some sort of weird contraption that was available when portable CD players were ahead of the in car stereos (mid 90's)

I have the 15GB iPod. It's a breeze to import CD's, using iTunes. You put in the CD, it searches the database to find which CD it is, lists the tracks and artists for you, then you hit an "Import" button. It copies the CD into compressed files that can then be loaded onto your iPod. You have the choice to automatically import any new songs in your library to your iPod anytime it is connected to your computer or to manage the music files manually. However, downloading through iTunes saves them as .m4a, which aren't playable on Windows Media Player or other audio programs. You can use WMP or Musicmatch or whatever else to import them as .mp3's, but the compression ratio isn't as good as the .m4a's.

Right now, you have the choice of a cassette adaptor or FM modulator for listening in the car- both of which are "extras" and not included in the iPod package. I know a few people who have RCA jacks on their car stereo, and you can use a standard headphone jack-RCA plugs adaptor to make the connection in that case. I have the cassette adaptor, along with the lighter adaptor for power. The FM modulators that I've seen are battery powered and I don't know what the battery life is on those things.

The battery for the iPod was my concern when I picked mine up last year. I ended up purchasing mine at Best Buy, where I ensured that if/when the battery needs replacing during my extended warranty period,  they would cover the cost of that. It's the first time I've ever gone for the extended warranty option on electronics. I bought 4 years of coverage at either $40 or $50.

I haven't tried to bring files over to a different computer using the iPod, so I can't comment on how easy it is to do.

It's really a sweet machine and I'm very glad I picked one up. I don't know how much music everyone has, but I've loaded pretty much every CD I own and a number of songs purchased from Apple/iTunes and have space to spare. I'm at 2,987 songs (around 8.3 days worth of music) right now at just a touch over 11 GB (including the base software on the iPod). Not too shabby! :)

Modern Classifieds / Spare SWS.com/GG Green Clone Bust FS
« on: July 18, 2004, 03:27 PM »
Hey all,

I picked up a spare Gentile Giant Green Clone Trooper bust from shop.starwars.com for a friend who was having trouble with his initial order from them. He ended up getting everything sorted out on his troubles and received his bust from them, so I'd like to offer up the extra to any needy folks in the GH/JD communities. I'm asking my cost for the bust - $55 ($50+$5 shipping from SWS.com to me), plus shipping costs to you.

The bust hasn't been opened and is #2421/2500.

Email me at: carrollm at colorado.edu with any interest or questions.

Thanks!
Matt

Wahoo! I signed up. Like some of the others, if one of the "regulars" needs a spot in the league, I can give up my team.

At least I won't be able to complain about pitching keeping me from breaking towards the top of the league.  ;)  ;D

But on the bright side, I did move up in the world there - from Member #2875 to #1760.  Did they purge a bunch of the inactive folks, I wonder...  Or did things just go that wonky with the switch?

I went from Member #3 to Member #7.  :(

Rob, I was playing around and having Norton running on my Win XP system didn't cause any problems with posting for me.

After using this software over at GH for a while now, it's not that big of a deal for me. Hopefully the errors and slowness are only temporary.

Stupid Team BALCO kickin' ass 'cause of Bonds...  >:(

Anyways, how many points is it for "finding a dead body on your property"? It may be the only points I'll get out of Larry Walker until mid-May.
