Collector's Tips / Re: removing stickers from card/bubble
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:57 PM »
To get the sticky stuff off of the bubble, I have never actually tried Goo Gone. Instead, I lightly dampen a paper towel, and rub the stuff off the bubble. If it's stubborn, I gently use my nail to slightly scratch the goo off. If you're careful, there will be no scratches on the bubble, and the goo comes off!

Haven't tried getting goo off the card, though....

Collector's Tips / Re: Temperature effects on figures?
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:54 PM »
You REALLY have to be careful with heat, sometimes. It was over 90 degrees one day, and anything made of soft plastic (CP DEII Clone Emperor Palpatine's Sith Lightning,TLC General Grievous) began to warp and droop. Good thing the next day was cold!

As for sunlight, it's best to keep your collection away from it. The paint basic action figures, if in sunlight, will begin to fade, and look somewhat yellowish. So be careful!

The Clone Wars / Re: Target "The Battle of Christophsis" UBP
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:49 PM »
I was surprised that Whorm Loathsom wasn't included in the set ... he could have gone with the tank! Anakin sports a darker paintjob that looks somewhat weird. It's a good UBP, as far as UBPs go.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Questions for Hasbro?
« on: August 12, 2009, 03:58 AM »
Hey Hasbro, Celeste Morne was the star of Star Wars: Vector. She played such an influential role, and, as such, she deserves the action figure treatment. But when? A Comic Pack (featuring any of the Vector Comics) would be nice! She could be packed in with either Darth Vader, a Rakghoul, or even Karness Muur himself! This is even a great oppurtunity for a new KOTOR Zayne Carrick! For Celeste, super articulation would be key, and a removable Muur Talisman would be neccessary.

Star Wars Universe / Re: Star Wars Survay
« on: August 12, 2009, 03:52 AM »
I would say my favorite character is without a doubt Asajj Ventress. Although she's 100% EU-based, her back story, visual concept/appearance and motives all clearly represent what Anakin could have been were he, say, just a Dark Jedi and not a Sith Lord (losing his mentors/loved ones, wanting to become more powerful). She's a tragic villain, in the way she lost her Jedi Master, and the way that, in the end, Dooku completely betrayed her (Treachery is the way of the Sith. Asajj wants to be a Sith and Dooku betrays her, and eventualy Palpatine betrays Dooku  :-\). You can understand why she's so lost. At the same time, she's this Jedi-killing Dark Jedi with two lightsabers! How cool is that! She also has this sexy, seducing side to her that she almost looks like she uses on Obi-Wan in the new cartoon 3-D series. She has just enough back story to understand her, unlike Darth Maul or Sidious, and that she has that cool Dark Side appearance that makes fans want to know about her. Also, she helps contribute to Anakin's story. He just HATED her. He seriously wanted to kill her, since she threatened to kill Obi-Wan and Padme. She even gives him that scar over his eye! She helps make Anakin Darth Vader.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Oola figure
« on: August 12, 2009, 01:01 AM »
What the heck, Hasbro, MAKE OOLA! She should definitely come with a chain ... hopefully this release pushes Hasbro even more to make a new Jabba with a dais/throne. IT'S ABOUT TIME!  ;D

(Wouldn't it have been funny if the 2009 OT Rancor came with Oola instead of Luke?  >:D Just wondering...)

Count me in on wanting a new SA Zam Wessel. She's way overdue.

2009 Wave 7 of TLC could have done with a Zam Wesell. Everyone's favorite Clawdite needs a resculpt....with a few accessories. A new Boba Fett would have been nice as well ... why did the 2002 Saga release include Jango's helmet, jet pack, and blasters? Psychotic kid with guns ... kinda freaky.  :o Beru and Owen surely could have been released later on. With the demand for the OT Owen and Beru, the PT releases could have waited for a later wave.

The remaining Evolutions sets are on clearance for $5 plus tax at some local Target stores. Three figures for $5? WHAT A DEAL!  ;D

Head on over to your local Target and see what you find!

Surprised Hasbro can't go the line of variants for DS Luke, Black tunic and open tunic, like they have for the Hoth Trooper or Ugnaughts... though I suppose it's just like Slave Leia.

Actually, that might have been the best way to go for Hasbro. But, however, opting for an alternate release might have gotten collectors mad. It's one of those "just different enough to get you mad" purchases.

What, is this supposed to be Hasbro's homage to Jason from Friday the 13th?

Haha, hilarious. It's funny how a guy like this could end up in the Star Wars movies. He does look like Jason! It's creative on Lucas's part on how he keeps his mind open for Star Wars.

Moving on to the Wave 8 itself, it's somewhat disappointing that a SA definite version of Darth Maul wasn't included in the lineup. We're getting him for the Greatest Hits line, but it would have added a core character into the mix.

And why did Hasbro use an Ep.6 pic of Palpatine instead using one of the common holographic Darth Sidious pics?  ???

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Is Yoda a coward?
« on: August 11, 2009, 06:37 PM »
Doing something like this would just be a great way for Vader to find more Jedi. Big groups of Jedi in training would be a risky move. And also, how could Yoda communicate with the large handfuls of Jedi that had survived Order 66?

This figure seems very good for DS2 Luke though.  I'm quite pleased.  Love that he has the binders for pop to force-undo for him too.  Nice touch.

It's a nice figure, without a doubt. But the removable chest piece is kinda pushing it. It does make sense why Hasbro would do this, without it, they would have most likely have to make a completely new figure. But it's good, and we collectors can finally get our hands on a new DS II Luke. Ever since that pathetic "Saga" caveman version...

The Slave Leia is also quite impressive. Very nice, Hasbro.

However, this wave seems more collector-oriented. Kids most likely don't know who's half the characters in this wave. Heck, neither do I!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Anakin vs. Sidious
« on: August 11, 2009, 06:05 PM »
I don't think Anakin could have defeated Palpatine. Although Lucas said Anakin could have done it were he not defeated by Obi-Wan on Mustafar, it's somewhat confusing. Think about it. Yoda couldn't do it. Only Mace Windu could have (as he almost did until Anakin decided to give Palpatine a hand; no pun intended), and does Anakin look like he can defeat Windu in a duel? He couldn't even defeat Obi-Wan at first. AND when he did defeat Obi-Wan, it was because Obi gave himself up to the Force.

Maybe Hasbro will give Maris Brood SA legs! And it would be a good oppurtunity for them to give the Sith Stalker's figure a removable helmet, like in the TFU downloadable Jedi Temple level. Both would be part of those "just different enough to make you mad" kind of figures...

It would be a good opportunity but they won't. Much like the McQuarrie Concept repack sets, these will be repacks too. The question is which version of Maris will be included - the gray skin or pink skin version?

If Hasbro were to re-release Maris, it would most likely be with the gray skin. That was more realistic to the video game, since Felucia is so wild and dirty, and Maris has been living there for a long time.
