The Prequel Trilogy / Re: The Phantom Menace: Was it That Bad?
« on: August 11, 2009, 05:18 PM »
When you think about it, Ep. 1 wasn't that bad. Lucas has stated that the Star Wars Saga is about Anakin/Vader. Ep. 1 did a good job of showing us Anakin's first step, and why he's afraid of losing his loved ones. Also, we are introduced to the story of the Sith ... and we see the first phase of Palpatine's plans for the galaxy! And, you, got to admit, Darth Maul was a pretty darn cool character....

It looks OKAY. The clone sculpts are indeed impressive. But, c'mon Hasbro, fix up that Mace Windu!....... ;D

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Wave 3

I'm really digging Plo Koon.  I love the fact that he's got his saber gauntlet thingy, very cool looking weapon/accessory.

I'm not too thrilled with Dooku though.  Something about his overexaggerated nose/face just looks goofy to me.

The Plo Koon figure was impressive, and his guantlet will be featured with TLC Wave 11 Plo Koon. Count Dooku's cape should have been soft-goods...it's just a big, goofy plastic cape. The Asajj Ventress figure was great, and she's just crammed with accessories. The Destroyer droid is barely articulated. The IG-86 droid and C-3PO are the most articulated of the wave.

Anyone wanna bet this abortion is headed to K-Mart for $50+  ::)

Although it's smart for a kid's pack, the figure choices are always the same. Has anyone noticed that Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Grievous from 2008 Wave 1 are always repacked? Hasbro's getting very redundant, and its these kind of sets that aren't worth the price. As it is, those above-mentioned figures are very easy to find individually carded.

I was disappointed to see in the same response that confirmed the Snowspeeder Luke that a new Han in carbonite isn't in the works.  Drat!

It'd be nice if a Carbonite Han could be included with a better Leia as Boussh. The 2006 TSC version was way too tiny, but it was okay....

The Snowspeeder Luke is indeed very impressive. And was he wearing the skull cap in the ESB? Was it featured on the Snowspeeder Luke from the 2007 Ultimate Battle Pack?

It'd be nice if Celeste Morne got a figure. Wasn't she an interesting character? Even Hasbro said one time they would consider doing her ... she should be SA! With a removable Muur Talisman! Now it'd be super-cool if we got her in a 2-pack with Karness Muur!

Also, Darth Maladi, Darth Wyyrlok and Darth Stryfe need attention. They'd look good next to the 2009 Darth Krayt and 2008 Darth Talon.

Also, it'd be cool if Darth Zannah was made. With the 2007 Darth Bane, it'd be a worthy addition to anyone's collection.

Rebelscum.com has a "Darth Vader (Battlefront II)" figure as part of their EU Wave rumor list. How would this be different from an ordinary Darth Vader?

Now for Darth Plaguies........

Hey Hasbro! / Re: More Evolutions Please!
« on: August 11, 2009, 03:27 PM »
I've got a seriously good idea... whattabout a SITH APPRENTICES set!

Darth Zannah (to go with 2008's Bane)
Darth Sidious (Sith Apprentice, as seen in The Ultimate Guide to the Force
Darth Krayt (this one can be from Legacy when he's a bounty hunter, after his duel with Obi-Wan)

And what about a DOOKU'S ACOLYTE'S set?

Kadrian Sey (from the comics)
Asajj Ventress (all new SA, since the CP version wasn't)
Komari Vosa (w/ Asajj's saber ... since Dooku gave Asajj Vosa's)

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Your Battle Pack Ideas?
« on: August 11, 2009, 03:18 PM »
I've got a few BP ideas, some are Clone Wars cartoon series...

SKIRMISH ABOARD THE TRANQUILITY
Asajj Ventress, Ahsoka, Luminara, Commander Argyus

DUEL OVER ENDOR
Darth Vader (2008 TLC), Luke Skywalker (2009 ROTJ Wave), Palpatine (Evolutions retool),NEW Royal Guard

STARKILLER VS. MARIS BROOD
Starkiller, Maris Brood (with SA legs!), X2 Felucians

CHASING COUNT DOOKU (from TCW television show)
Space suit Obi-Wan, Count Dooku (w/o cape), Anakin, Battle Droid

The SKIRMISH ABOARD THE TRANQUILITY set could be all repacks, while DUEL OVER ENDOR would be a great way to re-enact the last duel from Star Wars.

Looks like a good figure - would look great next to Kit Fisto or fighting Grievous. Doesn't look like it has articulated ankles and knees, though. Maybe Hasbro can inlclude a fold out 3-D display like they did with the Captain Rex promotional figure!

The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Collection Comic Packs
« on: August 11, 2009, 03:03 PM »
I cracked open the three new Comic-Packs last night. The only one out of the six figures I'm really happy to have is Sigal Dare. The rest, I'm sure I'll get some affection for once I read the included comics. Well done figures though.

Is the Darth Krayt figure good? he doesn't seem to be SA (no ankles?), and his mask looks too big. Wouldn't it have been better (and even easier for Hasbro) if the figure came with an alternate head? Oh, well.........hopefully we get Darth Wyyrlok soon!

I was looking for this on my toy run this afternoon.  And there was no sign of this at any of the stores I hit, despite Clone Wars having a significant presence at almost every store I visited.

When exactly is this set hitting shelves? And, considering the prices for Battle Packs have taken a significant hike since 2007, would this set do well at retail? it's obviously very kid-centered, but it'll surely make its way to some collector's collections. But Battle Packs at some stores are shelf warmers.

Toy Reviews / Asajj Ventress (2008 The Clone Wars)
« on: August 11, 2009, 01:52 AM »
So this was a pretty good figure. 12 points of articulation (minus elbows), but her likeness is totally awesome! She looks like she's jumping out of the T.V. screen! She's super-poseable, but she can't hold her lightsaber too well, so careful. Her removable dress feature is cool, except it leaves her with a hole in her waist. Don't hesitate to pick her up if you see her at retail, she's very hard to find. And does anyone know if she'll be re-released in the new red/white line look? 'Cause it'd still be a good release.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Zam Wessell
« on: August 11, 2009, 01:46 AM »
ANYONE ELSE? COME ON! we NEED a new Zam!

Totally agree. C'mon, Hasbro! It'd be nice if she could include her assassin droid. Oh, and maybe those kouhons. Oh, and maybe an alternate Clawdite head and rifle, and asking for a removable arm feature wouldn't be pushing it, would it?...  ;)

The Legacy Collection / Re: Resurgence of the Jedi Battle Pack
« on: August 11, 2009, 01:34 AM »
Definitely like this set. Although Battle Packs are pretty expensive these days in some stores ($27 plus tax at my local Target), this set is definitely worth it. Just look at that new SA Farmboy Luke!

The Legacy Collection / 2009 ROTS Wave
« on: August 11, 2009, 01:26 AM »
Who's impressed with the upcoming ROTS wave? It definitely looks better than the 2008 ROTS wave. The Plo Koon should be cool, Agen Kolar is a great upgrade, and, obviously, everyone will totally be after the concept IG-88! The Commander Cody looks SWEET! Captain Colton just MIGHT be a peg warmer in some stores, not to mention that Utai wrangler...
