A new Target opened downtown in my city...

The picked-over leftovers from this wave were sitting on the pegs when I stopped by. But holy hot damn, I never, ever, ever, ever thought I would see any figures past the Ep.I Wave at retail. :o

That is, until this Target decided to replenish the pegs with Ep.I figures. Joy.

I think this wrinkle in Hondo's character is hard or a lot of us to swallow because we want him to be the lovable scoundrel that Han Solo was for us in the OT. (because sometimes he as been)Turns out most bad guys don't have a heart of gold.

I gotta say, this argument really won me over, because I was just so confused as to how unagreeable this portrayal of Hondo has been with his previous appearances. But what you said here really does make sense; he is a pirate, after all.

I hate to say it, but this would have been a perfect and dramatic episode to kill off Hondo. When he and Ahsoka were crossing swords and he was saying something to her and she gave him that final warning, I was on the edge of my seat because I thought she was totally gonna gut him. Oh well. ::) Woulda been some great character development on her part as a maturing Jedi because she knows how Hondo has been a help in the past.

I remember my little sister was watching this too when Hondo said he was gonna turn Ahsoka into profit. AWKWARD! My sister said, "He's gonna sell her?!", and I of course was rolling my eyes because Hondo's line can be so misconstrued into something, well, completely not right. :o

I wonder if they would keep this show around much longer, with the new movie coming out in 2015. Going to the idea of a "clean slate," I would think all loose ends would be tied up before launching brand-whopping-new material. It'd get too confusing with too much going on for Star Wars.

I don't see the point of expanding unnecessary arcs like the Onderon one into 4 episodes. It's 4 episodes of repetition and a waste. But I will say that I do think there was some pretty useful Ahsoka character evolving in this arc.

The Clone Wars / Re: Target "Darth Maul Returns" Battle Pack
« on: September 26, 2012, 03:03 AM »
Finally opened up one of these today and I'm shocked at what I like most about this set... which is...

Savage Opress :-X I never got the original, so I gave Maul's lightsaber to Savage and gave the Nightsister saber to Maul. Totally love the set now! I was really shocked that I gave more attention to Savage than the other figures - and I'll explain why.

Nightsister is very well-executed for a generic Nightsister, it's a definite hit. Not anything extraordinary or overtly cool (I kinda want a Talzin now that I think about it, but I'll pretend this is her), but very well done.

NOW for the elephant in the room (seriously, Maul is a giant compared to Savage, which really surprised me).

I'm so disappointed with the Maul figure. :-\ I really wanted to like this figure, and I had such high expectations! But seriously, not giving an articulated waist or wrists to an otherwise almost-perfectly articulated figure is so downright distracting! It's the fact that it's just almost there that distracts me - granted, I'm grateful Hasbro went all-out with his legs, but it's so hard to achieve any cool poses with the missing points. And I really don't like the headsculpt either, I don't think it looks much like Maul from the cartoon. Being that the Maul figure looks downright goofy and the Nightsister is just alright, I loved the Savage most of all right off the bat.

A+++ for concept.
B- for execution. Granted though, this is a very nice set with much value, but, as a collector item (as in for a collector who expects TVC standards from everything, unfortunately) it's just okay.

New clip of Savage vs. Darth Maul on the main site. Yup, Savage vs. Darth Maul. If this isn't going to be one kick-ass season premiere then I don't know what is.

Does anyone know Hasbro's own official explanation on how come the Nightsister isn't Mother Talzin?

The Vintage Collection '10-'13 / Re: Will your collecting habits change?
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:27 AM »
I've always been what I would call a "dedicated casual collector" (I only buy the figures I want, and generally only when I find them at retail - although that's changed recently), but I'm so shocked by how disinterested I am with the upcoming Legacy Collection. Except for the realistic TCW figures and Mara Jade, I have almost no interest in buying the rest of the lot... maybe it's because TVC is almost impossible to top or maybe because the character selection for LC thus far really just is a yawn - but it's a shame because I remember the good 'ol times when I could walk into a Target and jump with an awkward seizure of convulted joy when I would find a COOL action figure, you know? A really ultra-cool character, you know? But I feel Hasbro has pretty much hit a lot of characters out of the ball park... and now we're getting figures like another Ep.II Anakin, or another Sandtrooper. It's really disappointing and disheartening, because I was always one to willingly spend my money on these things, but that's really changed to the point it's just downright sad.

2013 Droid Factory = Cancelled / Re: 2013 Droid Factory Wave 2

I'm a lot more excited for this wave now. Hasbro's obviously putting a TON of effort in the realistically-styled TCW figures, those figures from Anakin to Rex now all look amazing in terms of sculpt. Glad there was also a lot of effort with Mara, they did say they were trying to keep the spirit of TVC alive by sculpting her hair as a separate piece.

The Clone Wars / Re: Clone Wars Wave 30 (2013 Wave 1)

Looks like there is also going to be repacks of Cody, Maul, and Opress (Armored) in this wave.

So then that Maul is the one that Hasbro mentioned a lot earlier this year that would see release single-carded. Funny, it's just a straight repack. Not even any tweaking... I'm sure hecka people are dissapointed that it's not even Spidey Maul. :-\

Finally a repack with armored Savage. Hasbro's just terribly sly - they don't pack in his lightsaber with the Battle Pack version so that we can get both the BP AND the single-carded repack.

I'm not exactly sure why Hasbrpo hasn't repacked Ahsoka yet. You would think that being that they're going with core characters only now they would repack her. This figure goes for $70 on Amazon!

The Clone Wars / Re: The Future of the Clone Wars Toy Line?
« on: August 28, 2012, 02:22 AM »
I really get the vibe that they are basically just waiting for the show to end so they can axe the line for good.

It's funny, I also got that impression that they're essentially just waiting on relentlessly for the show to end. They've already made clear that the line will transition over to the realistic style. Honestly I love the realistic figures we're getting soon, and it'll bring something fresh to the table to keep the realistic line going on without getting stale in character choices. Think about, all the new characters from TCW that we can finally have now. I wouldn't be surprised if we even get a Duchess Satine waaaaay down the line.

Kind of bummed that this could be like a death throw for it...  The show looks like they maybe righted the ship this season.  I honestly am amped...  They trick me with trailers sometimes, but this one really looked like this year's going to what they needed to go to.

To be honest, with what was shown in the trailer and with the apparent "big secret" set for later in the season, this could be THE big bang to end it, you know? Because honestly at this point I don't see it surviving another season. And it looks like a LOT of loose ends will be tied up. I mean, Sidious fighting Maul and Savage? Come on, someone has to die there. And I have a feeling something big will definitely happen with Ahsoka, I did read somewhere (don't remember where exactly) that all the actors had to be kicked out of the studio while Matt Lanter (Anakin) and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka) recorded one particular scene together.

I'm just so hyped for Season 5 it's ridiculous. Thank you, Dave Filoni, for putting together a quality and rewarding season together for us.

I'd like to start off by saying that I have never once bought a full case of figures, nor do I usually buy online. Ever since TVC, I've been buying individual figures from Amazon, because that is my only option for ever getting new figures these days. I haven't seen ONE figure from anything after the TPM wave at retail. Ever. In short, I've been adapting to the situation Hasbro has presented the hard way.

How is this relevant to this wave? Well, this was the one wave I actually really wanted - I don't know about you guys, but I'm all down for realistic Obi and Ahsoka. Those figures look stunning to me. And, as far outta the loop I am with OT, I'm all down for the Royal Guard figure. So I was really annoyed when these came out as online exclusives.

Well, I can say I've bought my first full case of figures. EE was the way to go for me. It really is bittersweet. I can't believe that I seriously spend $100+ - online, mind you - just to get 3 figures I really wanted. Ugh, Hasbro.

I was shocked Mace even got the realistic TCW treatment. Other than the clone armor guantlets and maybe a longer robe, there really isn't too big of a difference. I really wish Hasbro would start on realistic TCW villains instead - give me realistic Asajj, Cyborg Maul and Savage Opress instead, please Hasbro? :-*

Since this is supposed to be a relaunch on the heels of Vintage, I'm completely underwhelmed. I don't like that AOTC takes the center stage here - sure, an updated Anakin is nice, and so is that Padme, but this is a weak first wave.  :'(

Idk, put Mara Jade in that first wave, or one of the remaining Original Kenner in need of an update, but this is such a lackluster first wave.
