I used Amazon to buy this wave; Ep.I pegwarmers are still pegwarming at my local retailers. :'( Amazon has not let me down, though; I was able to score Malgus when he was $12.99. I will say, though, that the thrill of the unexpected finds when you actually go into the stores isn't there.

I find it somewhat irritating that Hasbro is more invested in their Fighter Pods than the TCW line. >:(

The only "new" stuff I've heard of anywhere regarding this line has been from GH, per their post-Hasbro panel summary:

Quote
CLONE WARS

Commander Fox will be the last Clone Wars figure for 2012. Hasbro does plan on continuing to strongly support the series and releasing 20+ figures in 2013.

There is no arachnid Darth Maul planned for release at the present time due to the size of the figure, but General Pong Krell is very much in their radar. Another Maul is slated for release outside the Target battle pack version. We think Spidey Maul is a perfect piece for an exclusive

I'm just so confused with this line... only 20+ figures for 2013, again? I thought Pong Krell had already been made, as indicated per rumors last year... and another Maul? I'm just so lost I don't even know...

I re-watched the trailer today on the Star Wars site and I noticed something odd - in the one shot where Savage and Embo are fighting it out, Savage's left arm is mechanical. It's easier to see in the shot where he punches Embo with that arm. Is he losing his arm this season?

I've found multiple figures from the "new" TCW line - including the apparently hard to find Cody - and I've passed them all up without a second thought. I have absolutely no regard for this line now; Hasbro effectively killed it. The only TCW item I'll pick up in the forseeable future is the "Maul Returns" BP.

Dang... that unmasked Shae Viszla headsculpt is ugly. :-X

Hoping my Malgus is coming soon - I joined in the rush to get him when he was on Amazon for $16 - but I was disheartened to see the report on JTA from someone who received the order already. The card was bent and damaged from the bubble wrapped envelope. Plus I don't know why it didn't dawn on me that the figure would come on tri-logo packaging being that it shipped from outside the US. Well I guess I'm getting my opener. I was actually hoping to keep it carded for display.

I'm totally buying this. Just some thoughts, especially since Scum has some Hi-Res photos of the set:

- Nightsister is SA - ankles, ball-jointed elbows (not the cut elbows as previously thought), the works
- Where in the HECK is Savage's lightsaber? Hasbro, that's a really, REALLY stupid move...
- Maul has jointed elbows, ankles, and knees, as far as I can discern. From the photos, it looks like he has no torso articulation, and I can't tell if he has wrist articulation, either.
- What the hell is the deal with Maul's lightsaber?

Maul actually looks like the weakest of the set, which is incredibly stupid being that this BP revolves around him, a major, iconic Star Wars character that's been MIA for 12+ years since TPM in '99. The head sculpt doesn't look like the cartoon character, and he seems to be missing articulation in major places. Plus, that crappy lightsaber contraption sure looks wonky. I'm hoping the lightsaber pieces themselves are removable from that round red piece of plastic.

Ordered Sidious on Amazon for $3.05 (excluding shipping) and got Maul instead (already have him). Decided to keep him as mint carded for display. Don't know why I found this relevant to post, but these days I seem to buy figures only once a month now for a multitude of reasons. ::)

I think that they would go into some ROTS-related territoy, I agree that the galaxy was still in the Clone Wars phase even after Palpatine declared the Republic the new Empire.

If Filoni was going to go into the ROTS timeline, and the season ended there, I wouldn't be surprised if a tie-in announcement was made regarding the live-action show.

And then for next season it seems that there may be a running plotline of the Jedi searching for Darth Sidious.

I agree with this 100%... this is where I think the series could potentially end; the last part of the Clone Wars was the Jedis' effort to find out who Sidious was. Yeah, the battles kept going on, but that was the primary motivation for the last few months of the war/Outer Rim Sieges... maybe write a story about Maul leading the Jedi on a wild goose chase through the Outer Rim, on the hunt for Sidious, and have the Season 5/series finale be Anakin and Ahsoka vs. Maul; Maul kill Ahsoka and Anakin kill Maul, and BOOM, you have ROTS right up.

Hoping though that we see Dooku vs. Maul vs. Sidious. Fat chance, though.

I was sort of underwhelmed. It was too much to cover in only 22 minutes, and everything felt rushed. They should have introduced Maul two episodes ago instead, and made this episode longer and split it in half (aah, the Maul-bisection jokes are endless. It seems Ventress agreed in this episode, too).

(Spoilers...)

As much as I love the character of Asajj Ventress, I don't think she should have survived her encounter against Maul. If Qui-Gon couldn't, then why did Asajj survive? I think it was very degrading to Maul's character to put up with Asajj dissing him. Considering he's a former Sith Lord, he should have totally whupped her ass.

I liked the ROTS nod with Maul igniting his lightsaber, ready to wipe out the kiddies. It was very sinister and very true to his character.

I was getting extremely impatient with the episode - it wasn't until the last 10 minutes that we actually saw Maul. I wish they took Anakin and Ahsoka out of the episode - it was irritating to see them appear with no actual relevance to the episode other than for Anakin to have a "Yoda" moment and say "sinister" for what I'm sure was the second time in the episode. I thought it was overplayed when Dooku said that in the beginning.

Also kinda irked that here we have Savage, this giant fearsome-looking dude, and he acts like a tall, awkward dude that no one can take seriously. The cargo pilot and the annoying snake dude both seemed not to be able to take him seriously... and I'm still trying to figure out why the TCW crew would be unoriginal enough than to put a talking snake in Star Wars.

Witwer's take as Darth Maul, though, was amazing. The whole mentally insane was very suiting and it really makes you feel pity for the guy - he was this badass Sith Lord in EpI, and now he's living in his own scum and only half the person he was. ;)

I love how he's ranting, half-crying and giggling in insanity and Savage asks him who cut him in half - for a second Maul stops the whining and looks right at him and says "REVENGE"... a total "oh, sh**'s going down" moment.

Movie Heroes '12-? / Re: Movie Heroes Battle Packs

What I find insulting is that Hasbro flat-out said that these were the best sculpts ever for these characters... Really now?

Finally got Maul. Great figure all around, 9/10 score. The head sculpt I really didn't mind at first, but now I'm starting to get slightly irked by it. I can't tell if that's a slight smile on the head sculpt, but I think he's supposed to have some evil grin, which I would have been fine without. The horns are slightly too chunky - I didn't think I'd care, but I guess I do now.
