The Clone Wars / Re: New Clone Wars quality
« on: February 13, 2012, 11:43 PM »
The line is so lackluster this year, I don't anticipate buying any doubles of anything for opening outside of Cyborg Maul, and maybe Scuba Gear Ahsoka. So it will probably be awhile before I will be able to judge the quality of anything new...

Get ready for the continued success of crap quality and few desirables from the TCW line for the next 6 years while the 3D movies are released... Just as the TCW show was getting better, too...

The Clone Wars / Re: Clone Wars Figure Rumors/Speculation

The Super Battle Droid is new, SWEET!

Edit It's a training simulator Super Battle Droid from the Clone Cadets episode, repaint of the same old sculpt..... no new articulation. :(

Wait, so Hasbro used up one of the only 19 slots for TCW with a repaint of a crappy SBD...?

Not. Cool.

The Clone Wars / Re: The Future of the Clone Wars Toy Line?

I read the JTA report too, and I can totally see why Hasbro would put TCW aside. But for 6 whole years?! That's just way too much. Especially with the show headed into a more action/intense/dramatic/evolved direction. I say just put Movie Heroes at 3-4 new figures per wave and go all-out on TCW again.

I heard something around the lines of that Hasbro would have to "put away" TVC for awhile. It sounds like it's temporary, which I'm glad about, but this line is so awesome, why would they even do that? JTA reported something like that BAD would return, but I really don't want Hasbro ditching TVC for a few years in favor of BAD.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how well-done that Jar-Jar is... but considering who he is, why didn't Hasbro opt to give him a more silly look? They probably figured that if they did that then Jar-Jar haters would buy it just to set it on fire.

Emperor's Wrath Vader really threw me off... sort of a weird choice. It'll be interesting to see what the card looks like. No ball-joint hips on this one, which is disappointing. I wonder why they sculpted his right hand a fist instead of sculpting a mechanical stump, which would be screen accurate. Maybe the hand is removeable.

I've never really been one to beg Hasbro for a new Tarkin or even going out of my way to buying it unless I had some spare cash, but I too was disappointed with the soft goods tunic. It looks off.

If Hasbro's doing realistic TCW figures, can't you guys totally see them working on a cyborg Darth Maul from the upcoming TCW episodes? Everyone loves Maul, now cut him in half and slap him on some robot legs, and you have yourself a cool new figure! :D

I like that Ahsoka. Very much. I'm glad they chose that version over the younger version. Now I'm praying Hasbro does a realistic TCW Captain Rex and Asajj Ventress, and I'll happily put away my list of much-wanted realistic TCW figures.

I was so surprised by how similar the new upcoming Weequay looks to the POTF figure. It's like Hasbro intentionally did it.

Movie Heroes '12-? / Re: 2012 Movie Heroes Line
« on: February 13, 2012, 11:22 PM »
I'm not going to lie, I think the light-up figures are a really stupid and pointless idea, but I can honestly say that I'll pick up that light-up Vader when it comes out. I remember owning the POTF light-up Vader vs. Obi-Wan figures, so when I saw this one it brought back some nostalgia. I'll happily buy a light-up ANH Ben if that ever comes out, just to complete the scene.

TVC figures went up from $10.99 ('11 TVC) to $11.99 with the new re-launch. Plus, the only figures available at my local Targets are the crappy pegwarmers from last year. This sucks.

There's never any new figures at my store anymore, which severely pisses me off because Hasbro has really been stepping up their game with sculpts. At this point, action figure sculpting is so amazing that each figure looks like a mini-Sideshow Collectables 12" figure.

I'm beginning to officially lose faith.

I've read snippets of the 'Wrath of Darth Maul' biography novel that pretty much is a tie-into for the future TCW episodes and these are the conclusions I can gather...

- Maul is a FALLEN Sith Lord. Dooku's the new Sith, so I guess this means Maul's been demoted (you gotta feel bad for the poor guy. Lost his lower half AND Sith title).

- It seems Maul has contracted a bad case of amnesia over the years. Should be interesting to see what his intentions are once he remembers who he was and what he wants to do with the galaxy.

- He has to die (and stay dead!) within this show. I could see him waging a second war, against the Jedi, within the Clone Wars, but this would mess with way too much canon. And besides, being that there's naturally no mention of him in ROTS and after, it's likely he won't make any long-term damage. I can't even see him lasting past Season 4 of the show, but who knows, why bring back Maul from the dead if you're going to feature him in the season finale only?

Did Derrown die? Or did he just "explode offscreen" ala Aurra Sing?

His fate is left unknown - but being that he's a bounty hunter, and a cool one at that, I wouldn't be surprised if we see him in a future episode. Heck, if Darth Maul can survive getting cut in half, then I'm sure this guy can find something to hold onto instead of falling to his death.

Seems anything's completely possible in the Star Wars galaxy now.

Being that I don't have any Wallymarts anywhere within an hour of me, I sure can't wait til Aurra sees general release in TVC. I seriously she had ankle joints until yesterday when I first saw loose pics of her.

Color me shocked when Anakin cuts Twazzi's arm off. We've never seen it rain limbs anywhere in this series (unless you count the Battle Droids), undoubtedly because it's a kid's show.

I'm getting tired of these Anakin vs. Dooku weekly duels. I'm beginning to suspect they're even getting tired of each other.

"My powers have doubled since the last time we met, Count."
"When was the last time, Geonosis, Tatooine, or Naboo?"

I will say I enjoyed this duel, though - instead of Dooku whoopin' Anakin's ass like usual, we see Anakin actually try to strangle the poor old man. With his bare hands. :o

Bring on Maul!! 4-part season finale is next.

And it never occurred to anyone on the Jedi Council that it MIGHT be a bad idea to pretend that the Chosen One's master was murdered and not let him in on the secret? The same guy who has all those attachment/loss issues?

I thought it was a risky, if not stupid, move to send Anakin to capture disguised Obi-Wan and put him in prison. Judging from Ep.II, Anakin would have killed the guy who "killed" Obi-Wan! And the sucky part would have been that he unintentionally killed his own master!

89
What's that, you guys found the new TPM wave?

I found a bunch of yellowing Wave 5 Clone Troopers. :'(

Seriously though, I'm putting faith in Hasbro to clear out the undesirables, being it's a new year, to make way for the new waves. COUGH COUGH *READ THIS HASBRO, PLEASE* COUGH COUGH.

Has anyone read the newly-released "Wrath of Darth Maul" biography novel? It pretty much ends where TCW is going to pick up...

Looks like Maul is going to kick some major ass this season. Aah, to be an angry, bisected, fallen Sith Lord.
