TV-9D9 / Re: The Clone Wars - Season Three Discussion Thread

TOP-freaking-NOTCH!

I thought they ended on a great high note. The episodes never felt dull or tedious and there was a genuine sense of pathos.

I thought Chewie came off fine. You can't go wrong using Peter Mayhew really. Ahsoka continues to grow and impress. What happened to her lightsabers though? Did she drop them on Felucia or did the Trannies get them? Would have been nice if she could have recovered them from the wreckage.

The finales are usually good toy fodder episodes and these should be no different:

The Hover Pod is a no-brainer, I just wonder if they would do it proper in the midsize vehicle line or try to squeeze it down to the Deluxe assortment. I'm guessing the former. Pretty sweet with the big gun and the hand-painted deco.

Trandoshan Battle Pack - Dar, The Main Dude, and maybe 1-2 other nameless thugs with big guns. Oh yes.

Wookie Battlepack - Just because they can. Chewie repack and some repainted commando wookies. Check.

Sugi, yes Sugi. That was her giving the Wookies a lift, and this was at least her 3rd episode so far. You gotta give us some Sugi, Hasbro!

Bounty Hunter Assault Ship - Also the 2nd or 3rd appearance now. Aside from the Jedi T-6 shuttle, there's not a lot of other good candidates for vehicles in the line right now. This is a great one. It's been done by Lego already too. I'd rather see it in the Deluxe ship assortment, done right with some heft and scale, but that would probably push it out to next year if at all.

Agreed it was an uneven season, but there were some great episodes in there and I for one loved the Mortis arc for trying something different and "out there". The scenes from next season looked pretty awesome too - underwater Mon Calamari battles!

As if to prove my own point, I found the BARC w/Clone Trooper Jesse Deluxe Set tonight at Target. Of course I had to buy it....felt very gratifying to finally hunt this down.

No sign of the Gunship or Tri-Fighter though.

Sure feels good to be more or less caught up with everything again.

Got that SOB!

Found Jesse tonight at Target, not the mintiest box in the world, but who cares. What a great feeling it was to finally lay eyes on him on a peg. It almost felt like some weird mirage.

The speeder is no big whoop but I kind of like the combination of previous clone sculpts they amalgamated into Jesse.

Wonder when we will see Castas, et al?

Glad to have caught the re-airing of last week's as well, pure comedy gold.

This show is on freaking fire this season!

LOL...RS has their annual April Fool's Joke up and it's a cruel one. Holiday Special on Blu-Ray indeed!

Harumph...I would buy that in a heartbeat.

For what it's worth, I have seen reports this vehicle is finally starting to show up stateside, at Target I believe. I have not seen any around here but will keep an eye out as I still need a mintier box upgrade.

That is wise advice....you just never know how these things will turn out long turn. I never saw the Jedi Showdown or Holocron Heist BP's anywhere in stores around here last year. All of a sudden I have seen droves of them at the local TRU the past few months. None of the old red/white stuff should even be shipping, but there ya go.

Never going the scalping route again - lesson learned.

Just found the Barc Speeder w/ Jesse set at my local MN Target. That wasn't even on my radar with how little I've heard about people finding it.

= WINNING

Excellent score! Figures the week I break down and buy this off eBay it starts showing up again.

Picked up a carded Logray last night, along with my first DROIDS figure, a carded Kez Iban.

Got my replacement X-Wing upgrade in the mail, the thing looks sweet.

Where did you find the metalocalypse Toys?
What are they going for now?

cb

eBay...the auction was for $70 I believe but I used the Buy It Now feature to snag them for $85. I think that was a good call as these sets have all but disappeared from eBay and I foresaw the bidding going well over 100 bucks. This is the first set I have seen up for about 6 months or so. A year ago when there were multiples floating around out there I never saw them for less than $60.

I am a huge fan of the show, the music, pretty much everyone involved with that project, so this had been on my list forever. It was a good get - the figures are excellent likenesses for the most part and although they are somewhat lacking in articulation, they display beautifully alongside my Dethklok Kid Robot figures and the two Dethklok statues from the other SDCC.

ps - just checked and BBTS has this set in stock for $79.99 I believe.

K-Mart has a toy sale going on for the next week or so that allows you to take an additional 20% off any clearance item. This brings the price on their AT-AT down to $60. The store next to my office had at least 3. Might be worht checking into...

I am holding out for $12.50, or whatever that ridiculous price Target had going at one point.  ;D

Funny, that is the same episode that features MY all-time favorite Foghorn Leghorn line:

"It's sody-pop...watch it fizz!"

At this point I'm hoping the TCW line ends with the show in two years. Call it a day for the animated style and let me retire in peace.  ;D

If they want to recycle those figures into a more realistic style, go for it. But only if the animated line is given a proper end.

With me, it's not about money, it's about space. And my wife.  ::)

TV-9D9 / Re: Pre/Post Clone Wars Ideas
« on: March 28, 2011, 09:19 AM »
Speaking of tie-ins to it, I even thought it would've been far cooler had the "seismic tanks" from the Mace episode turned up as the "secret weapon" that Ahsoka and Barriss Offee take out, rather than just slow moving tanks that had mortars on the back of them...  Talk about underwhelming.  Big tanks are just weapons.  Not really super weapons.  The seismic tank was a game changer. ;D

The floating hammer? I always thought that was utterly ludicrous. Even a SW cartoon writer had to have known the physics behind that idea was preposterous. At least the super tanks were plausible.

Durge was incredibly awesome though.
