TV-9D9 / Re: The death or disappearance of Ahsoka?
« on: November 15, 2010, 09:56 AM »
Forget Ahsoka, I just want to see these two get killed, since they do not "exist" as of ROTS:

1) Asajj Ventress

2) Cad Bane

Thoroughly enjoyable episode on most accounts, for sure. LOVED seeing the Hutt homeworld. (Anyone catch the proper spelling?) It was exactly like what I would have envisioned.

Vos came across as pretty cool, admittedly I knew practically nothing about the guy, but they seemed to pull him off pretty well. I thought it was cool that he had a mastery of psychometry, as this is a talent we have never seen associated with the force before, to my knowledge. Where was his funky snowboard though?

Was there any reference to Ziro's father? Is he dead? The Mother was an absolute abomination, thoroughly disgusting..the creeping parasites were over the top! I'm already sad we will never get that as a figure.

Was really surprised they offed Ziro. Hasbro now has a convenient excuse NOT to make this guy, although it seems everyone wants him. Then again, it didn't stop them from making Echo, or whoever the clone was that Bane killed. It's such an easy repaint too...c'mon!

What I didn't like? More of the same that had bugged me previously.

1) Cad Bane should not be able to hold his own against 2 Jedi, PERIOD. I don't care what kind of funky weaponry or little tricks he whips out, he should have been carved up in about 10 seconds. Darth Maul was insanely more of a bad-ass and he couldn't fend off 2 Jedi. Jango went down like a house of cards. Even Dooku bit the big one going up against 2 Jedi (ok, not at first, but by the next movie). I get that they want to pump Bane up and make him seem all invincible, but they really go overboard IMO.

2) Voices, voices, voices. I guess they are just never going to give up giving ethnically, culturally inappropriate voices to characters in Star Wars, no matter how outlandish or offensive they come off. I really think this is the worst of the franchise...it's cheap and tacky. ALL the other Hutts speak Huttese, but they decide to have the mother speak English?!?! With the voice of a 300 pound black woman? Seriously? And they go out of their way to give Ziro the most effeminately gay voice possible, but then we're supposed to believe he had some relationship with an alien female? Yeah, right...real ladies man there.  They just need to stop lifting accents from Planet Earth, and maybe work on creating some actually innovative linguistic patterns. Just drives me crazy for some reason. Jewish Watto, Asian Gunray, Jamaican Jar-Jar? Let it end!!!

Ugh, what a snoozer! I knew when it got to be 10:43pm and they hadn't even left for Atlanta, it was going to be a wasted episode. For a show about zombies, it might be good to actually feature some, you know, ZOMBIES.  ::)

I do give the writers props for adding some depth and shading to the characters. You kinda came away with a different take on Shane and the Wife. Gotta admit, I find it hard to dislike any guy who dishes out a savage beating like that on such an unrepentant a-hole.

Other thoughts/ observations:

HTF did Merle get down off the roof if the door was still chained?

Where were all the zombies when they were sneaking back to the dept store? They only saw 1? The place was swarming the previous day...you'd think there would still be plenty of them lumbering around. Were they all at the movies?

Maybe it's just me, but even if it's the end of the world and the living dead are running amuck, I am not having sex with my wife while my kid is in the same tent. ICK!!!

Next week's episode looks a lot more exciting...

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Wave 18 (aka Fall 2010 Wave 4)

If you order over $50 of stuff do it - then shipping is free.  If not wait.   :)

thats what would be the deciding factor for me at least.

Yeah, even with tax, etc it still comes to less than $50 for the 5 new figures in this wave.  :(

For me it's all about the timing. I want these things ASAP so I can stop frequenting Walmart, Target, etc. It's starting to get crazy in those places. If those are really not shipping from hasbro until 12/6 that is too late because I am sure I can find them before then at a brick and mortar.

I read this morning on JTA that the Embo wave has now been spotted at a Walmart in GA, so that is VERY encouraging. I guess it is back to saturation runs every day until I crush this wave. I need at least 2 Embos and Shaak Ti's alone!

Good point Tracy, I had thought that too, would kinda make sense in light of the conversation Rick and Shane had in their patrol car at the beginning of Ep 1. But in a way that's even worse, because that conversation clearly portrays him as somewhat of a dick (Shane that is). Plus then it's just straight out adultery, not even framed by the whole "end of world my husband's in a coma" type rationalizations.

More to the point though, it IS distracting and hits a false note somehow.

Well hopefully it all goes away after tonight since it looks like they'll finally reunite.

Bring on The Governor!

Back in stock now at HTS, except for the Mandalorian Warrior.

Still torn whether to bite the bullet and order these...projected shipping is not until 12/06 according to Hasbro's website. I am positive I could find these before then, but then again that date could be completely false. Maybe they would ship tomorrow.

ugh, decisions decisions...

I came across this Wave at 3 different Targets as well as a K-Mart, of all places. The cheap Target prices can't be beat though. I only bought the 4 I was interested in - Wooof, Wicket, Ackbar and Gammorean Guard.

Initial thoughts:

You gotta be choosy with the Wooofs, there are some funky looking ones where the helmet/cowl/whatever doesn't fit right. I'm sure it's fine if you open it and jimmy it around, but I had to go through a couple before finding a good MOC version.

The Wicket is pretty underwhelming, it just seems like not much there, especially compared to the Gammorean, which is about the heaviest figure I have ever seen on a cardback. What a sweet sculpt that is, a great achievement.

Ackbar is just plain terrific. I love the facial detailing and all-around effort they put into this one. Winner of the bunch, IMO. But then I loves some Mon Calamari.

Went on a megahunt today and found the ROTJ wave at multiple Targets, as well as, brace yourself, K-Mart! (The price difference right now is no contest though) Scored Wooof, Ackbar, Wicket, and Gammorean Guard. Complete awesomeness!

I'll detail my thoughts in the other thread, but suffice to say if I had this much luck they're probably hitting all over by now. Great, great wave.

TOY SPREE!!!

Best day of scores in a long time, and I only had to hit 7 Targets, 4 Walmarts, 2 TRU's and a K-Mart.  ;D

I found the new wave of deluxe TCW vehicles at multiple Targets, and in addition to scoring the 2 I had snagged earlier at TRU (for return purposes), I was able to secure the AT-RT with Boil set. MAN, this is my favorite so far I think. Just love the deco.

Also scored the Battle of Orto Plutonia Battlepack at TRU, another welcome surprise.

Sadly, zero sightings of the Embo wave. That sucks, especially after running into the new Vintage wave multiple times out there. Still, a very good day all in all.

I found one this morning at TRU...all re-pack swag, but I really like the diorama. Anyway, I had to get it regardless as a completist freak.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Figure Rumors/Speculation
« on: November 11, 2010, 03:19 PM »
Sorry, to clarify, I think it's going to just be 4 repacked figures, similar to the ones K-Mart has had as exclusives in the past. It doesn't sound like there are any cool accessories or pack-ins, but maybe something will be new. I hope anyway.

Looks like they are also going to re-release the Jedi Showdown and Rishi Moon BP's. Ugh, they are doing a lot of recycling with the BP's this year.

Hmmm, smells like one of those crappy K-Mart exclusive BP's...4 repacks of figures already out on individual cards.

Will be interested to hear confirmation about this though.

Saw Overkill last night with Forbidden, pretty crushing. The boys can still bring it.
