Kubricks / Re: Deluxe Series 2 - Hoth
« on: October 25, 2009, 04:26 PM »
With the Jabba set slated for June 2010 are there any guesses about the Hoth set release. Is it normal for photos of future sets to be around a couple of years before they go on sale? I've no experience of kubrick releases so just wondered what you guys thought.

I'm thinking (hoping) it'll be 6 pieces, 3 dias, 1 Hookah and Jabbas Head/body one part and tail the last.

I'm loving the detail in Jabba then the fact they stick on Kubrick arms, class!

June 2010, is this the usaul length of time between announcement and release date?

You've been collecting for just 4 months and you have all of those kubs and you're worried about chase prices????

You must have dropped a ton of ebay tokens :P on that lot!!
I should re-phrase that, I'm worried my wife finds out about the chase prices   :o. I got what I thought were some good deals, like Series 5 for £22 and the TRU Boxset for £18. Once I've got the basic series I'll maybe slow down a bit  :P. And as for the total ebay tokens I've spent I'm refusing to add it all up, I might get a shock  :'(

They are small enough to keep without a rented space, which save some money  ;) TRUE

Now the re-releases of the series on cards are expensive, but may or may not be easy to pass on depending on your collecting habits.

I think I'm gonna swerve the carded ones as I'd probably open them so it would a bit of a waste. Are they re-releasing all the previous series in carded versions?

I'm playing major catch up as I only started collecting in June, mostly concentrating on basic 6 sets. So far I've got :-

Series 1 Basic 6
Series 2 Sandtrooper & Both Band Members
Series 3 Basic 6 except C-3PO
Series 4 None
Series 5 Basic 6 + Han Endor
Series 6 Basic 6 + Wedge
Series 7 Basic 6 (just got my Gamorrean Guard woop woop)
Series 8 Basic 6
Series 9 Basic 6
Series 9 Basic 6
Series 10 Basic 6
Bobafett Series
and today I just received the 2005 TRU boxset that I bought on ebay over a month ago (thought I'd been ripped off).

Can't get enough of these guys but a bit worried about some of the Chase prices.

I've just noticed on ebay the Toys-R-Us Exclusive Boxset 2 for $30 item number 380156509907. The low price has got thinking it's a dodgy deal but as I'm new to Kubricks I don't really know. Do you guys think this is a fair price for that boxset, I'm desperate to buy it so your thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

It's a common set, nothing to worry about & the seller is well known. That's about average for the set.
Excellent, thanks for letting me know. K-3PO looks class. Can't wait too get my hands on this.

If you're collecting loose, I've had really good luck contacting Ebay sellers and getting them to lower their shipping costs for loose figures.  You'd be surprised at how much people will knock of vs. their list price.  Good luck!

That's because they're using a trackable and insured postal service. I find it annoying as hell but I understand why they do it. Like JediJman I also recommend contacting the seller and asking them about changing the postage.
Thanks for the info, I'll try that in future.

Bobajode it's all done automatically so you'll get a grey card from the postie with the royal mail fee and customs charge info on and then you go to the sorting office and pick it up.
Thanks for the info. My Series One just arrived in the post and it was marked gift so no fees, perfect  ;D

If you've just been buying from Ebay then most likely the seller has been reducing the price on the customs form. HLJ won't do that so anything over £18 will incur an £8 fee from the royal mail and whatever number customs dreams up.
Do customs charge automatically when I recieve my goods or do I have to contact them with the details of what I have imported. Sorry about the daft questions, I'm new to all this  ???

You are from the UK so you will dinged with customs like I do in Canada but sometimes it's a hit & miss. Ya take your chances.

Yeah I've not been caught yet, only had Fett series from Japan so far, waiting on series 1 from HK so fingers crossed Mr customs ain't working that day ::)

It's up at HLJ, me order.  ;D
Me too  ;D, I've just started collecting these guys and this will be my first pre-order, can't wait!!

Is HLJ the best place to buy new series of SW Kubricks if their not exclusives?

I've found Hong Kong sellers the cheapest for postage followed by Japan and then the states. It really depends on what you're buying of course .

Thanks, I'll bare that it mind. I'd just seen single figures from the states with postage at £17 which I thought was a bit extreme.

Anyway welcome to the club ;) nice to see another UK collector on the forums :)

Cheers, I take it there's not a lot of us over this side of the pond going by how little is for sale on ebay over here. I've found the high shipping costs have put me off buying more so far.
