The Vintage Collection / Re: The Old Republic... The Figures

A shame this is a MMORPG, it looks like it's just begging for some core characters and a deep story. Shame that the trailers probably have more plot and character than the game will.

Have you ever played any games from the WoW series?  Many of the Alliance/Horde characters have developed throughout the series, especially in the MMORPG - though you can easily not pay attention to the development.  And not only has the game evolved the characters, but there has also been books, and I am pretty sure comics to move them along - so we could see that go on here with characters developed for the game.

As I think I said before in the video game thread - I am pretty jazzed about this game - so much that I bought EA stock in anticipation for it (right before the European stock crash.....   ::) ).  But I think figures for this game will do extremely well and will probably also proove very hard to find, as non-collectors will start buying figures they identify with in game.

As to which characters they should make that we have seen?  All of them.  They are all BA.

not sure if it has been said or not - but, to me, you can't compare CD/DVD's to toys imo (I worked 3 years at Best Buy in that dept.).  If not for many other reasons, the main reason imo, is that it is a standard for that product.  Every CD/DVD has a release date and very rarely are they broken (Though I recall people were going insane when "The Fast and the Furious" brok street date).

Toys - barely ever from what I know.

I am just hoping they count the new vehicles as "all vehicles", and the new clone wars figures, ie Aurra Sing, as "Clone Wars Figures".

Like I said, I am down for free stuff - I am just gonna have my son give em away as birthday gifts if we already have them.

Your mileage may very on this because it happened to me at Target - and they were reducing all clearance stuff to 75% off

I bought:
2 Clone Commander Blascters - marked down to $10 each
1 Clone Nerf gun - $4.25
1 Clone Helmet - $10

But the best part is, with the inclusion of the Aurra Sing figure I bought last week - I can now mail away for another free Rex Helmet   ;D  (I have to use the Sing purchase because for whatever reason the Clone trooper helmet wasn't included on the form - only the Rex style).

I am thinking I may be able to send away for a 3rd too with the purchases I made a while back on the Snow Speeder and Cloud Car vehicles during TRU's bogo 1/2 off sale.  The form just says standard vehicles....

And yes - I will of course be using different mailing addresses   ;)  hope it works - I am just getting this stuff for my son to give to his friends for birthdays

yup they are - my bad.    :-[

meh, I could see Hasbro's mindset as this:

Mad rush of collectors enter store on street date.  Mad rush of collectors see plethora of product.  People start grabbing stuff like crazy, maybe even more than they anticipated because they don't want other collectors to grab the item, leaving none left. Wishy-washy collectors unsure have 2 choices - grab stuff or walk out empty handed.  They impulse buy - thinking if they change their mind they will return it  They forget.

Hasbro and stores make out like a bandit.

maybe?

I don't remember seeing this posted anywhere - if it has I apologize.

Tunghori has the black phasing troopers that were supposed to be in this pack up for sale in 5 man groups such as in this auction here:  http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-Lot-5-Force-Unleased-SHADOW-STORMTROOPER-/370413093014?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item563e574096

thought I would post incase anyone was interested.

Not a completist by any means and only buy figures I like the look of or the character themselves therefore before now I've not gotten any Gam Guards of Jabba's Palace themed figures (bar Slave Leia and Skiff Guard Lando)

wow, thats just crazy to me - but probably because I love the Jabba scenes at the beginning of ROTJ - probably my favorite moments in all SW.  Personally, I think the figures from this section of the saga are some of the best made SW figures there are.

but to each their own, right?   :)

was able to hide the red/silver Iron Man pegwarmers today and pulled a Jedi mind trick on the Target employee making him think they were out of stock on the sales floor (I just moved them to the IM2 section).  He scanned the peg, said there were a bunch in the back and brought out a case.  I scored the Archangel Death variant and the old school Havok and another AIM trooper.

It was nice to see Colossus and Juggie hanging on the pegs - shows the great potential of this line.  Those 2 figures are so BA - but I already had them.

I was able to get SDCC - Cap, Thor, and Spiderman (along with the Visionaries comic set) yesterday from HTS.  I was also very close to ordering a case of the Skrull wave but I smacked some sense into myself by saying I will not support bad case ratios or HTS.com selling cases only - so I will continue to try my luck at retail until HTS changes that.

I ended up biting the bullett when I ordered the 4 EE exclusive comic sets.  I hope I really do enjoy them because I kept going back and forth for the longest time as to whether I felt I should get them or not.

Tunghori has all four versions up for sale now individually priced at - I am pretty sure - $6.99.
