Modern Trading / 1 Complete Vintage Millenium Falcon
« on: January 19, 2004, 10:23 PM »
O.K. I'm tapped for cash and the wife won't let me by Star Wars stuff. So trading is the best way to stay active.  ;)

I would like to sell off one of my complete loose vintage Millenium Falcons (including the hard to find Jedi Ball). I am willing to trade it for a variety of vintage items. According to page 355 of The Star Wars Super Collector's Wish Book (2002 edition) it is valued at $95 US. I am easily flexible on that. I would love an AT-AT (pg.354 @ $88 US) for example.

I will take an assortment of these items. If you make it sound interesting we have a deal:

AT-ST Scout Walker (chicken walker)
POTF figures loose (especially R2-D2)
origional weapons-Leia Organa, Han Solo
complete Luke Jedi Knight
Tie Fighter
Vader's Tie Fighter
B-Wing
Y-Wing
Ewok Combat Glider
Ewok Catapult
Snowspeeder
Rebel Transport
Dewback
Droid Factory
Rancor Monster
Droids R2-D2 loose
Droids Coin R2-D2
C-3PO Carrying Case
Any complete sets of trading cards

Episode 1 Figure MOC
Captain Panaka
Naboo Royal Security
Adi Gallia
Darth Maul (Sith Lord)
Obi-Wan (Jedi Knight)
Darth Sidious (Holograph)
Naboo Royal Guard
R2-B1
TC-14
Jar Jar (swimming)
Qui-Gon (Jedi Master)
Destroyer Droid (Battle Damage)
Pit Droids
Queen Amidala (w/ Ascention Gun)
Accessory Packs

And any R2-D2's moc or loose from any line that I don't have.

If you've always wanted a Millenium Falcon here's your chance. You can get rid of your extras or unwanted items and help me out at the same time.

Lets make a deal!

What movie do you feel was the worst creation to ever leave Hollywood? I know the last two Matrix were pretty bad, but I don't think either qualify.

My vote goes to the 1980's version of Flash Gordon or maybe Never Ending Story II.

..... Shipping (and customs) would have been rather frightening).

The shipping and customs would be on the buyers hands. There would be a small paypal fee to the seller (if you went that way), but that would be neglegable.

.....I do think modern items will recover a bit so POTF2 figures sell for $5-7 rather than $2-3 but that's about all.....

That is over 100% profit. If you think on a scale of buying $2000 worth of product that will be $4000 in sales making a $2000 profit minimum. A great way to make money on a hobby. Use the profit to finish your "collection" and put your $2000 back in the bank.

I believe all Star Wars products will increase near the next movies release. New collectors will join the scene because this is "the end?" of an era. They will be thinking this is their last chance to get a piece of Star Wars history. Ebay is becomming more popular and gaining members daily. More competition on a limitted market at the perfect time (next movie) should generate a juicy profit.

Their is no better money to be made than doing something you enjoy. Somebody will be selling the product if it isn't you.

Another thing that got me into collecting was finding 4 EP.I figures at dollaramma in Montreal. You mentioned Ric Ole. There was also Emperor Palpatine, Padme, and the Cancellor. That was a great deal. You can figure out the fabrication/mark up costs after finds like these.

I don't know who take care of marketing, but those figures sucked. No kid/collector would really want them near the amount that was fabricated. They should have focussed more on the R2-B1, TC-14 and other astromechs or podracers. I'm not into marketing, but those would have deffinately sold better. ;)

That would have been a great deal. I would have bought it just to split it up and sell it when the next movie comes and prices go up.

What was the reasoning behind the R2-B1 being so rare? Before I got into collecting I swear I had seen it in Quebec.

I got a great deal from a friend that had 2 boxes of assorted Ep.I figs. That started me into collecting. Of course it didn't have the expensive rare figs in it. I'd like to finish off my Ep. I collection, but I don't want to spend $50 Can. at my local comic shop for it.

Do you guys think the price will go down a bit in the future or increase. I have found alot of ROTJ figs on c6.5-7.5 card for less. ???

Whats a good price for R2-B1 carded in good condition?

Is it really as rare as the prices you see listed on ebay, or is there a quiet conspiracy between comic stores to stockpile a bunch in the back and keep the price jacked?

Does anybody have one for sale?

The seller doesn't know his Gaffee stick from his exhaust port. You notice he only has 1 feedback. I'll cut him some credit by figuring he only has a basic idea about Star Wars and thinks its alot more rare then it is.

Its a shame to see people waste that kind of money listing products, but its a good forum topic :P

Does anybody know of any good english speaking Canadian/European/Asian Star Wars forums?

I can think of:

www.bejedi.com
www.imperialoutpost.co.uk
www.snowtroopers.ca

I'm curious to see some foriegn input regarding Star Wars collecting and find some of those hard to get overseas cards.  ;)

So, where does one get this $1,000 shopping spree Chris?!  Do tell!   :D

It was just an idea that popped into my head. I'm strapped for cash lately and was just browsing ebay thinking about what it would be like to have some guilt free money to spend.

If the money was free you'd spend it a bit differently.I wouldn't normally want to shell out $850 for one item, but easy come easy go.

Scenario:

You've just won $1000 US credit from ebay to spend on Star Wars products as you see fit (just pretend). You can get as many items that fit in your budget or just 1 big juicy one. Don't forget to keep shipping in mind. Its your chance to get those certain things you wouldn't normally think about spending money on or the opportunity to finish off part of your collection.

What would you get?

What particular items would you aim for if you had money to burn?

Tell us about it in this thread or if your on ebay browsing, post a link to that particular item(s) you would get.
