Other Toy Lines / Re: What is Your Favorite Figure "Scale"?
« on: December 22, 2003, 10:20 AM »
I agree, even more so after seeing ROTK this past weekend...I think I would be all over a 3 3/4" scale LOTR line.  Toy Biz's stuff can be great, but I personally just don't have enough space for a lot of the 6" figures (I only have 2 actually).  If they did it Star Wars-style (size, beasts, etc.), I think you'd see even more hard-core LOTR collectors than there are now.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Hoth Wave
« on: December 22, 2003, 10:12 AM »
I was able to pick up an R-3PO, the 2nd Dignitary, and also an Ultra Rieekan this past weekend.  I was happy to find them, but was really hoping to pick up the Hoth Luke and the Ultra Wampa.  These figures seem to be pretty hot right now, but at least they are shipping to a lot of places...and many people aren't in the 2003 rut as badly anymore.  I also saw the Ack Mehd Beck figure (or whatever it is named) alongside the R-3PO and Dignitary, I think they all ship together, although I'm not 100% sure.

Put me down too....after seeing what they did with the super-art. clone trooper, I don't see why that couldn't be passed on to a number of different characters...the Fett-man included.  I would really like to see a SA Fett, and I agree with OCB...the Sarlacc version we got this year could have been much better than it was, and it wasn't too bad of a figure.  Hopefully Hasbro will see how successful and well-liked the SA Clone is, and explore figures like this, or a SA Stormtrooper or Vader :).

Saga '02-'04 / Re: 2004 Figures Release List
« on: December 18, 2003, 10:46 AM »
Thanks for posting this list Scott, its always nice to keep up with what is out, and what we should be looking for.  The more waves that say "out now" that I don't have, the more behind I start to feel  ;).  It is great to have this list too, and it looks like 2004 is just going to be a great year to be a SW collector, specifically if you like the OT figures (which I think most of us do).  There are a lot of figures I personally am excited about, and I hope that everyone is getting at least some of the characters they have been wanting/asking for.

Feedback / Re: OCB's feedback

I just completed my first transaction with Scott, and it went great.  He was kind enough to help me attain the Santa Yoda, that I was unable to get.  The fan club doesn't accept the credit card that my wife and I have (they accept Visa/Mastercard only), and he was willing to order one and have it shipped directly to me.  I just received it this morning, in time to have it on display for Christmas :).  Don't hesitate to do any business or trading with Scott.  Thanks so much Scott for all of your help.  Have a great holiday season!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Buying a new computer soon... Suggestions?
« on: December 17, 2003, 09:48 AM »
Looks like a nice 'puter there, congrats on your decision.  My wife and I have been hoping to get a new computer pretty soon as well.  We currently have a P3 Dell that we got about 4 years ago, and once we have the money, it will be time to upgrade.  My place of work also has Dells (P4s), and I have been very happy with them...so we will probably go that route again.  We are kind of thinking about getting a laptop this time though, we have always liked those, and it would be nice to have the extra space too.  Hopefully someday....

It seems like it has really been hit and miss with this store so far, from what I have read.  I'll admit, I was about ready to jump all over the $6 figures once the Hoth and Ultra waves came up (I really want a Hoth Luke and a Wampa), but decided to hold out since they were just starting to hit stores, and I wanted to try my luck there first.  It seems like those who have ordered...some are having great experiences, while others are still waiting...and waiting...  From what I understand it is only 2-3 guys trying to do all the orders, which might be part of the problem.  Also, apparently they ran out of stock, and maybe didn't update their "out of stock" stuff on their site soon enough.  Now they have too many orders for what they have.  Anyways, hopefully they will get things cleared up.  That is the best single figure prices I have seen on the net for awhile, and it would be great for those who aren't having the best luck in the stores.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: The NBA is back!
« on: December 15, 2003, 08:00 PM »
Well, looks like we have another big NBA trade on the books today...according to ESPN.com.  Ainge is at it again, with a trade with Cleveland for Ricky Davis.  Here's how it is breaking down:

Celtics Get:

Ricky Davis
Chris Mihm
Michael Stewart
draft pick (2nd round)

Cavs Get:

Eric Williams
Tony Battie
Kedrick Brown

This should significantly change both teams.  To me, it looks like Boston gets the better end of the deal....with Davis' scoring, and Mihm's strong play this year.  However, Ricky Davis does seem to be a bit selfish, and it will be curious to see how he meshes with Paul Pierce and Co.  I have been watching a few of the Cavs games on TV this year (curious about LeBron), and I'd be happy to see them improve their team at all.  I'm one of those who believes that LBJ is going to be a special player, and I wouldn't mind seeing them at least win a few more games this year.  Eric Williams is solid, and should help take a leadership roles.  Battie can be good, and Kedrick Brown is said to have potential.  We'll have to see how it all shakes out.

Yeah, the gap between the East and West is really terrible anymore.  Its really no contest.  I wish that things were a little more "even", it makes for a more interesting season and playoffs.  It looks like it will be a little while before they start evening out though.  And to think, really much of the Western Conference could be getting even better...many are still working through the kinks of new players/lineups (Dallas), and others are battling injuries or just starting to recover from them (Minnesota, San Antonio, Sacramento).  Things could be getting even rougher for the East in a month or two :).  I see the first all-star voting results are starting to come in now, no big surprises really so far...although I am a little surprised Lebron isn't one of the starters...yet.  Figured the fans would vote him in for sure.  Also a little surprised that Kobe's vote total continues to be so high....not that he isn't deserving or a great player, because he is....but if nothing else, he is still an admitted adulterer...I guess fans don't care about that.  Plus, I guess to be honest, how many of the NBA players aren't that way...at least from what we hear?

I'm not 100 percent sure, but I think that "normally" Hasbro does their updates with new figures on Wednesdays, usually towards the end of each month.  I was thinking they might do it this Wednesday, since the next two are Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.  Here's hoping at least, I'm ready to see some more previews :), and maybe see confirmation of the next wave they will show.  Who knows?

Watto's Junk Yard / Are You a Star Wars Packrat?
« on: December 15, 2003, 11:05 AM »
While watching a show on TLC that my wife and I enjoy (Clean Sweep, if any of you have ever heard of it...we tend to watch a lot of those home/home improvement shows on TLC)...we got to talking about what types of stuff they would clean out of our house.  It really made me realize what a Star Wars packrat I am.  We have tried to get in the mode of not keeping "crap" we don't need....old clothes, things we don't use, etc....we usually take it all to Goodwill.  Anyways, I am a Star Wars opener (save for a few carded figures here and there), but I have kept all of the boxes to every figure, vehicle, beast, etc. that I have ever gotten.  I'm not really sure why, but I just keep them.  Also, I have kept things such as Star Wars calendars, which I get for Christmas every year.  I have two older wall calendars, and last year I received a daily desk calendar, which for some reason I have kept every page to after tearing it off.  I'm not sure why, again.  I think that I will end up trashing this stuff (specifically the calendars), but do any of you have this same problem?  I don't really know why I keep all of this stuff, I just do.  And to be honest, we really don't have the room for it probably...or could fit things a little better if we didn't have it.  I don't keep any of the plastic bubbles, etc., and I flatten all the other boxes, but it still adds up.  I was just curious if any of you are like this as well?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Spider-Man 2 Teaser Trailer
« on: December 15, 2003, 11:01 AM »
Thanks for the trailer link, I am looking forward to seeing this one.  Doc Ock was always my favorite Spidey villain as a kid, and it will be interesting to see him brought to the big screen as well.  From the looks of the trailer, it looks good so far.  I enjoyed the first Spiderman, mainly because he was one of my favorite childhood heroes, and it was so great to see him in movie form finally.  The only thing I didn't care for in the first movie was the appearance/costume of the Green Goblin.  Just looked strange, Power Ranger-ish to me I guess....but the movie was still good.

It was so great to wake up on Sunday morning and hear about this.  It is so great that they caught him, and it will be interesting to see what happens from here on out.  I think it should be a big morale boost for our troops if nothing else, and hopefully it is another step closer to getting all of our troops back home with their family and friends, where they belong.  God bless them all, and a job well done!

Kubricks / Series 2
« on: December 12, 2003, 02:10 PM »
Morgbug....no worries, I totally knew you were kidding....I'm sorry if I came off like I was mad or something.  I just didn't want all your Kubrick collectors thinking a newbie like me was coming in to get your scraps :P.  I do appreciate the offer for the extra Han, I will definitely think about it.  I still haven't decided if I want to start or not, I have the feeling I will want them all if I do.  Anyways, thanks again for the advice and the help....I really appreciate it...and sorry if I sounded like a jerk earlier :).
