Saga '02-'04 / Re: How's Star Wars Selling in Your Area?
« on: March 16, 2004, 02:13 PM »
Quote
Wal-Mart just gave up and took down the four empty pegs altogether. Nothing "Star Wars" there but three lightsabres. NOW I'm getting worried.

This actually has me a little worried as well.  The Wal-Mart nearest us only has pegs for basic figures (and lightsabers), and only has old Younglings/Outlander Bar waves (no pegs for Ultra).  The Wal-mart that my brother stops in on and checks for me has recently taken down their Star Wars section as well (and this is a Super Wal-Mart, that has always had a pretty good selection of Star Wars stuff).  Maybe it is just resetting stuff, but it is kind of worrysome at the moment.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: SAGA Drying Up Again?
« on: March 16, 2004, 01:04 PM »
This is a little bit older topic, but I thought with everyone's different store reports lately (or lack of), it might be relevant again.  It seems like we are going through another dry spell (many areas at least) lately, with little to nothing new showing up.  Personally, in the Eastern Nebraska/Western Iowa area I haven't seen anything since the Tatooine Wave in the last week of January or so.  I was fortunate enough to receive a number of figs (including Ultra Wampa) from Matt (JediMAC) here, to help me keep caught up.  Otherwise, I haven't seen an Ultra figure for quite some time (Jabba where are you?), and nothing new basic wise either.  I have seen all of the Animated Clone Wars figures at one time or another (except for the Clonetrooper, which I was also helped out on by Matt).  Also, this past weekend, there were a couple sets of the Maul/Obi glasses at Target.  I picked up the Obi, so at least it is something new.  I guess this isn't anything like the drought I (and many of us) went through in parts of last year, but it seems like there is a little lull in Star Wars land right now.  I'm almost scared to hear any new wave finds, since I'm already behind with the Jabba's Palace and Yavin waves :P.  Good luck to everyone in their searches!

The Original Trilogy / Re: Favorite Imperial Officers!

I'd probably have to go with Tarkin as well, because I think Peter Cushing played that part so well.  I also like General Veers, since we got to see him "in action" a little more than others too.

Saga '02-'04 / E-mail from Amazon.com
« on: March 16, 2004, 11:41 AM »
Although I don't often buy figures via Amazon.com, since they run a few dollars higher on their site, I (for the first time) used their "notify me when in stock" feature on the Jabba's Palace Lando Calrissian, as well as the Ultra Jabba the Hutt.  I haven't seen anything of these figures around here, although they might still be on the way.  I just thought I would check with Amazon as a "back up plan".  Anyways, I received this e-mail today from them regarding each of the figures:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greetings from Amazon.com.

We've recently learned from our supplier that the item you requested to
be
notified about, Star Wars 3.75" Basic Figure: Jabba's Sail Barge -
Lando
Calrissian, will not be available in the foreseeable future.

It's possible that someone may be selling this item through Amazon.com
Auctions or zShops.  We encourage you to search for it there if you're
still interested in purchasing this item:

We're sorry not to have better news for you.

I got the same message for the Jabba.  Now, like I said, this is the first time I have ever done this at Amazon....so maybe they send these e-mails out often only to restock with the items at a later date.  I just thought I would post this here for anyone that might be interested.  It seems there have been a lot of dry spots around since the Tatooine wave showed up a month or two ago (depending on the area)...so maybe these figures are still just "in the system" and on the way.  I just thought I'd post this in case anyone was interested though.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: We Need More Cantina Figures!
« on: March 16, 2004, 09:30 AM »
Yeah, I'm kind of hoping that this news isn't true...as far as being a K-Mart exclusive (although, that is better than not getting it at all).  There is one K-Mart somewhat close to us, but it has always been a wasteland in the toy section.  I haven't visited it for over a year, because they rarely had anything...it was out of the way for us...and the prices were always higher.  Last time (and only times I think) that I bought something there was the 300th Boba Fett way back when....and then I found a Jedi Starfighter a few weeks earlier than they were supposed to be out in 2002 and was excited for some Episode II stuff, so I picked it up.  Anyways, I'm not too crazy about K-Mart getting this, but I guess it is better than nothing.  I've enjoyed Target having many of the exclusives, I think I have at least seen every single one so far this year.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Packaging Heaven
« on: March 16, 2004, 09:27 AM »
I agree as well.  I found the Target glass sets this weekend too (picked up Obi, left the Maul for now), and I have really been admiring the packaging on these too.  I have been thinking the same thing recently, that Hasbro has really done a nice job on improving their packaging.  I really liked the Animated Clone Wars packaging, although like Matt said that may have had some Cartoon Network influence, either way, it really popped on the pegs I thought.  Even though I check the Star Wars section each time every time, I think others in the aisle would have had their eyes drawn to that.  I'm in the same boat where I am really looking forward to the upcoming OTC packaging.  Although much of that line is re-releases, and I'm actually an opener, I have been considering picking up the re-releases anyways just for the cards.  I guess I'll have to wait until we get further pictures...but the packaging looks great, and I hope that they keep that style for quite some time.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Muppets
« on: March 15, 2004, 04:09 PM »
In case anyone didn't see it, I was looking around Palisades' site today and they have some updates in the Muppet Bits including pics of the backstage playset with Gaffer the Cat.  Also, today they posted a new update with a pic of an upcoming exclusive "Super Beaker" figure.  Most of you probably already knew this stuff, but I'm new to reading about the line so thought I would post it just in case:

Although I still don't have any figures from this line, I have been really tempted lately to start in picking up a few of my favorites.  My wife and I picked up one of those "Best of the Muppet Show" DVDs this past weekend, so that doesn't help either I suppose.  I'll probably hold off and see if I can get an Indy Kermit to start things, but Palisades really does a nice job with this line.  Anyways, Action-Figure.com has some pics from "Megacon" that includes some upcoming Muppets pics.  I think that Sweetums figure looks pretty nice.  Anyone else here still collecting this line?

Saga '02-'04 / Visual Guides (formerly of ArtoosNews) Back Online
« on: March 15, 2004, 12:14 PM »
In case anyone hadn't seen them yet, the visual guides (in the style of, and from the same people I believe who did them at AN) are back online at the following site (Jedi Temple Archives):

Jedi Temple Archives Visual Guides

I always enjoyed their visual guide style, and it really allows for some good views of the figures.  Just thought I'd post if anyone was interested.

Has anyone heard anything new when the SWS might be opening back up?  It sounded as if they would let everyone know in advance, so I am sure all the collecting sites will have it posted, just curious.  I kind of thought it might be back up sometime this week (hopefully soon).

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Saga Purchases
« on: March 15, 2004, 09:45 AM »
Nothing new past the Tatooine wave again this weekend, although the Target nearest us had the Obi-Wan and Maul glass sets (2 of each).  I picked up the Obi-Wan, but held off on the Maul one for now.  I haven't decided if I want to get the prequel glasses or not, these sets are pricey enough the way it is.  Packaging looks nice though.

Well, I suppose that's a little better Bri.  You could've just switched the teams names though.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to say no for now.  At least until you've sat down and thought about some things, and this surprisingly bad attitude you've suddenly developed!

Yo' Celtic fan!  You need about half a case of those upcoming VOTC figures?  I've got some (pre-ordered) extras that have suddenly become available...

I'm just curious what kinda strings Scott's pulling behind the scenes here in this strangely developing situation.    Whatever he's up to, I'm gonna get him back!

Ok, ok....go....er, um.....go NBA LAKERS!  I hope EVERYONE'S teams do the best!  I can't stop using exclamation points!  How exciting!  Now can we be friends again?  :-[

Yeah, the Vin-man is kind of a sad story.  I hope for his sake that he gets his life in order.  I don't know why everyone was making quite as big of a deal about who would sign him, as I don't know if he is all that great anymore.  Maybe a 10 and 6 type of guy, but those aren't exactly impossible to find anymore.  Not surprised the Knicks picked him up though, Isaiah is on a spree over there.  Should be a dandy tonight, with full lineups in tact.  Hope it is a great game, where everyone plays well....and that's all :).
