Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Teen Wolf

You know, this has always been a favorite of mine too.  One of those classics from the 80s that I watched over and over back then.  Star Wars (of course), Indy Jones, Goonies, Teen Wolf, Karate Kid...those were some of my childhood classics, and I still like them today :).  I will admit though, Teen Wolf and Karate Kid both seem a little more cheezy to me now :).

I just heard that this morning too about Moss being talked about between MN and Miami.  Surprising in a way, because he is so talented, but at the same time that package you mentioned Scott would be great for the Vikes I think.

I'm with those who think that Denver is crazy with this trade.  Although Bailey is a great CB, Portis is one of the best running backs in the game...and has so much of a career ahead of him yet.  Washington is certainly upgrading things over there, could be a team to watch next year.

I really hope that these recently sighted prototypes are a sign that this line might be coming back.  Even if we aren't able to get a lot of vehicles right off the bat, the figures would be great too.  It seems like all the prototypes seen so far have been ANH figures, but that might not mean anything in particular.  The R2 and 3PO are different than the other releases though, so it might be a good sign.  Hopefully we will hear some news on this sometime soon...thanks for the links/pics guys!

Other Collectibles / Re: Unleashed Again

Wow, good choices there.  I'd like to see a Stormtrooper, Bespin or Endor Han, Bespin Luke, Biker Scout, Skiff Lando, Old Ben Kenobi, and Ewoks (liked MisterPL's sketch) to name a few.  If they could get into a little larger scale, I really like the ideas of Hoth Han w/ Tauntaun and the Wampa.  Those would look sweet.  Jabba would be cool too, but I'm not sure how they would "unleash" him :).

It sounds like most of you are going the preorder route, along with the fact that Entertainment Earth seems to be the popular choice.  I have never ordered from them before, but I don't think I have heard anything but good things about them.  I also have never ordered a "case" before, which kind of scares me because we usually don't put that large of amounts on our credit cards if we don't have to.  In the past I have ordered/preordered through Kebco (because of the single figures), but although I am patient...my recent orders have been really, really slow.  But, I have gotten pretty much everything...eventually.  I keep holding off to see if we find out that these won't be as limited as we have heard, but from what I have been reading, it is really just pointing to one shipment, although unclear how big of a shipment it is.  I just get this feeling that they might be tough to find regardless of how many, since they might only be coming once.  Figs such as Vader, Fett, Yoda, and the Stormtroopers especially.  Actually, with the lineup of characters, they could all be popular buys for casual fans and collectors alike.  Thanks for all the opinions everyone, I might have to bite the bullet and order a case (if the wifey doesn't care :P)

Middle Earth / Re: LOTR Trilogy Figures

Spuffy, thanks so much for the advice.  I've always liked the line, and wanted to have a few of the characters, but I have held off because of budget reasons.  But, every time I watch one of the movies again, for some reason it just makes me want to have some of the figures again.  I really like your choices as well, although I haven't looked around the stores lately to see what is actually out and about.  I know there are some SP versions of many of the characters coming in the future (Strider/Aragorn, Boromir, Frodo)...but I wasn't sure when everything is being released.  I'll keep an eye out for things though.  One of the characters I really wasn't sure on was Aragorn, because it seems like many of the figures haven't had the best likeness in the world.  Anyways, thanks again for giving me some advice, I greatly appreciate it.

My wife and I were wondering the same thing, where the rest of the cast from LOTR was.  I can only assume they were filming a movie somewhere or something along those lines, because you would sure think more of them would have been there otherwise.

Back on topic now, I am really glad that Return of the King won what it did.  I really went into the night hoping that it would win best picture, and Jackson would win best director.  To go 11 for 11 is just outstanding, and very deserved I think.  We finally got a chance to sit down and watch the EE of FOTR (TTT is next weekend hopefully), and it just amazes me how great each of these movies is.  There isn't a stinker in the bunch, and I think that is a true credit to Tolkien, Peter Jackson, and the entire cast and crew.  It isn't a movie trilogy where I would say "nah, let's watch one of the other ones", because they are all very well done, in my opinion.  Anyways, very happy for all those involved, they deserve all the credit in the world.

Also...I was hoping that Depp or Murray would have gotten best actor, but I guess I wasn't surprised they didn't.

Middle Earth / Re: LOTR Trilogy Figures

I've just been trying to keep up with what is coming out in the future, and what was shown at Toy Fair (via TheGD and LOTRGuide).  There is still a part of me who would like to get a few more of the main characters, not a huge collection, but just a handful.  With what you collectors know that is upcoming, or what you have seen, who would be the best ones to pick up and/or wait to come out?  I kind of like when they do super-poseable versions (as long as they have great likenesses), and was leaning towards those.  Here are the characters I'd like to pick up:

Strider/Aragorn - Just about got the Pellenor Aragorn, but wasn't sure if I liked the "screaming" face.  Any better ones available in your opinion?

Gandalf - I have been leaning towards the Gandalf the White version.

Legolas - I have the Rohan Armor version, any ones that are better?

Gimli - From the pics, the ceremony version looks kind of good I thought (and is super-poseable?)

Frodo - not sure, I thought I saw that a super-poseable one was coming up?

Sam - no idea, I hear the boat one is good.

Merry and Pippen - I was thinking the "armor" versions from ROTK, any thoughts?

If any of you have any advice for me, I really appreciate it.  I'm not nearly as up on this line as Star Wars, so I always look to the experts with any questions.  My wife isn't crazy about my collecting budget the way it is (spent over $100 on SW stuff this year already, which is high for us), but if I can pick one up here or there...I'd like to have in mind who I'm looking for.  Thanks for any info everyone.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Burger King Glasses Figures!!!!!!
« on: March 1, 2004, 03:53 PM »
I feel a lot the same way as many of you.  I'm not really crazy about any of the figures included (especially now with the Luke change), but I would kind of like the glasses.  I was always a fan of the vintage ones, and I wouldn't mind adding a few new ones to the collection.  However, it will be hard to justify spending $10 a pop for just the glass :).

Other Toy Lines / How Much of Your Collection(s) Do You Display?
« on: March 1, 2004, 01:03 PM »
This encompasses both Star Wars and any other lines/props, etc. that anyone might collect, so I hope that this is the right place for this.  For awhile, i was finally able to have the majority of my stuff displayed (thanks to some new shelving), although my vintage Star Wars stuff is still packed away.  However, space is becoming an issue again, so I have started to look at stuff that might be able to be packed away for now.  Anyways, I was curious how much of your collection(s) you are able to display, and if you can't display it all, how you decide on what gets put away.  I guess one example of things I have been doing, if there has been a superior sculpt/figure offered in the modern lines (POTJ/Saga), I have packed away the same figure's POTF2 counterpart (mostly the buff versions).  I am also considering packing away my small (6 figure) Marvel Legends collection, as well as possibly some Episode I stuff.  I finally this weekend got around to pitching a little bit of my boxes from Star Wars stuff, and flattening out all the rest that I could, to free up some space in our storage tubs for anything I might need to pack away.  The space I have to display stuff just isn't large enough I guess.  I was just wondering what some of you do, or have done.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: How's Star Wars Selling in Your Area?
« on: March 1, 2004, 11:41 AM »
After shopping this weekend, it seems that Star Wars continues to sell pretty well around here....either that or they aren't stocking anything :).  The Target we frequent (which is where I have had any finds this year), is almost always empty-pegged anymore.  This weekend, they had one R-3PO, as well as a re-packed SC Anakin.  They did have quite a bit of the Clone Wars Animated line too.  I continue to be surprised at how well the regular CW line must have sold, because you can't find it anywhere around here anymore.

The only figs I see sitting a lot now is the Bail Organa wave (the TRU closest to us has quite a bit).  Otherwise, it seems as if you have to have pretty good timing to find things.  Also, as far as Ultra goes, it really isn't showing up anywhere anymore.  I found a lone Riekaan and 3PO back in December/early Jan...and that has been it.  With some help from Matt, I was able to get the Wampa too.

I'm not sure if it is a distribution thing, or the fact that everything is selling out as soon as it is stocked.  Either way, it has me concerned for the Vintage OTC figs later this year.  After seeing some more pics this weekend of Wave 2, it just reaffirms my opinion that I don't want to miss out on these.  It might be time to break down and preorder stuff again, we'll see.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Distribution of Clone Wars Wave 3
« on: March 1, 2004, 11:37 AM »
As far as I could tell, Wave 3 never did show up anywhere around here.  I've never seen any portion of that wave, and to be honest, Wave 2 came and went pretty quickly too.  It is funny, I kind of thought these figures would end up being pegwarmers...but I don't see anything from this line hanging at any of the stores around here anymore.  I didn't really end up collecting the line itself (with the exception of one SA Clone from a friend, and ARC, and the Yoda)...but I was surprised at how well it sold.  Actually, most everything from Star Wars seems to be selling well around here anymore (with the slight exception of the Bail Organa wave at TRU).

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: OTC Vintage Wave 2 Images
« on: February 28, 2004, 10:33 AM »
This certainly was a nice surprise to see this morning.  I think that these figures look pretty great, not so sure about the Lando yet.  I think I might like the POTJ version better (the cape at least was better), but the articulation on this one looks much improved.  The rest look great, I am really diggin the Vader.  I really like the nods to the vintage line, with Yoda coming with a snake, cloth included, etc.  I can't wait to see the rest!

Hasbro addressed the shipping of these "vintage" figures, but it didn't totally clear it up for me at least :):

Question: How will the Vintage figures be distributed?

Answer: Wal-Mart, Target, and Toys “R” Us, among others, are all planning to carry them in multiple ratios.

Multiple ratios, does that mean multiple waves as well?  I guess I'm just curious if these are going to be "miss them and tough turds" the way it sounded before.  Also, I see they don't mention re-releasing them on regular cards...but I suppose they wouldn't do that since it might endanger people skipping the $10 versions to wait for the $5 ones.
