Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Dagobah wave
« on: February 27, 2004, 12:15 PM »
Looks like those who guessed about the "split in half" Yoda were correct, also news about the extra head/arms with Luke:

(from Hasbro)
Question: What's with Luke and that pose in the Dagobah wave?

Answer: The Luke figure in the Dagobah wave comes with an extra set of arms and head, so he does NOT always have to be posed doing a headstand.  Also, the Yoda figure is meant to interact with the Luke figure (similar to the Wampa and Luke Hoth).  The backpack fits on Luke and Yoda separates at the waist so that he looks correct when sitting in the backpack.

I posted this with a comment about the vintage figures in another thread, but thought more people might see it here.  Hasbro has posted a "Q and A" at their site, although it is somewhat brief.  You can check it out here:

Hasbro has posted some question and answers here:

It looks like they have made the Vintage OTC lineup official....Stormtrooper is replacing Han Solo in the ROTJ assortment.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rank the Star Wars movies!
« on: February 27, 2004, 10:22 AM »
Empire Strikes Back - For many of the reasons stated earlier in this thread...Hoth, Bespin, Dagobah, first appearance of Yoda and Boba, just the best one overall in my book.

Return of the Jedi - I know many don't care for it, and maybe it is the fact that this was my first "Star Wars experience", seeing it in the theatre when I was almost 7...but I like this movie.  I really like watching the Jabba's sequences at the beginning of the film, Speederbike chase was cool (I even like the Ewoks), and the final duel/space battle are both great.

A New Hope - I'm an OT person, so these three are the top three to me, and they are all pretty close.  I could watch any of them every day probably and not really get tired of them.  I think for me too, ANH would be higher if I had saw it in the theatre too (of course I didn't see the original ESB in theatres either, but anyways).  Some of it might be that this is the only one that has been on television a lot too, so I've seen it more.  It is a great movie though, and the one that started it all.

Attack of the Clones - To be honest, in 2002 this would have been #2...but that was maybe because of the "newness" of it.  When I first saw this in the theatre (several times), I though it was amazing...especially the end part of the film.  Every time I have seen it, however, I've cringed at those "Sound of Music" scenes too.  I do think Hayden has done a good job though.  A good movie, and I do enjoy it, but it mainly ranks here because it just simply isn't the OT...not quite the same, but still good.

Phantom Menace - Again, when I first saw this, even though it was different...I still liked it.  Mainly because it was "new" Star Wars I think.  I really can't bring myself to watch it anymore, just because I don't stay interested for the most part.  The final Obi/Qui Gon/Maul duel is awesome though, and I could watch this portion several times.  I still like it, because it is Star Wars, but it is by far my least favorite.

I'm really looking forward to Episode III.  From what I have seen and read about the film, it sounds like it will easily be the best of the prequels, and I hope it bridges well into the OT.  I think each of the prequels seems better and better, the more things start to look similar to the OT (or characters pop in).  First we had the droids, Obi, and Anakin in Episode I (and Jabba, Palpatine too I guess), then we move on to the Fett family/Clones and more OT-looking ships in Episode II, now in Episode III we will see a few more OT characters, or similar looking things (I won't mention them specifically here, because some people are more spoiler sensitive than others...but many know who I'm talking about).  I'm looking forward to seeing Ep III though, I hope it satisfies as many fans as possible, and Lucas is able to go out on a high note.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Sesame Street Figures
« on: February 27, 2004, 09:51 AM »
Thanks for the pics Scott.  I'll have to admit, these figures do look kind of neat...and bring back some memories.  My wife will probably think I'm insane if I wanted to pick these up, but they are pretty spiffy.  When do these start coming out again?  I wouldn't mind having a Cookie Monster at least, just for the heck of it :P.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Animated Wave 3 (and beyond)?
« on: February 27, 2004, 09:39 AM »
I'm not so sure that we'll see any more of this Animated line, but I personally kind of hope that we could see at least one more wave.  I'm not sure how everyone else feels about them, but I kind of like this little "sub-set".  I received the three figures I was missing yesterday from Matt (JediMAC), and I really like the lineup all together.  Personally, I would like to see R2 and 3PO included if they did one more wave, along with the "new" bad guy (not sure if I can post his name here or not, due to spoilers).  I suppose Padme would be another candidate, or maybe Kit Fisto.

Feedback / Re: JediMAC's feedback

Just completed another transaction with Matt, receiving a great package of goodies yesterday.  He has really been helping me keep up with stuff that I'm not finding around here, and really goes out of his way to help you.  And, even though I'm not even a carded collector...I have never seen anyone pack up figures as well as Matt.  Thanks again buddy!  Don't hesitate to deal with our friendly JediMAC.

Pitfall...

I swear to God, that damn game had no ending.  Everyone said they "knew" someone who beat it.  Nobody ever beat it.  It never ends...  It just goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on...  Jumping scorpions, climbing up and down ****, swinging on vines, jumping on alligators...

It's neverending.  I always wanted to see what the hell he was running around doing.  What the purpose was that Harry was loose in this jungle.

I have to agree with this.  I spent a lot of time playing Pitfall in my younger days, and it seemed like it never ended, just kept repeating stuff over and over...adding in some scorpions here, chomping alligators there, and every so often a gold bar or money bag.  I found an online version awhile back that I played a few times that just reminded me of that fact....it doesn't end :).

Hall of Justice / Re: Mattel Batman
« on: February 26, 2004, 10:54 AM »
That's a lot of what tempted me as well Scott.  The only DC comic I ever read growing up was Batman (or anything related to Batman), I was mainly a Marvel kid otherwise.  However, Bats is probably my favorite overall.  I really enjoyed watching the Super Friends growing up, and actually am somewhat interested in the newer Justice League show as well.  I have considered both the Super Friends and JLA lines from DC Direct because of that.  Also, sorry...one other question...have any of you been collecting the current Justice League line from Mattel?  I know it is riddled with variants as well, but what do you think of the regular figures if you have any of them?  I've been tempted a couple of times to get at least the "team".

Real nice looking collection you have there jokabofe!  Also, I see today that SirSteve's Guide has some prototype shots up of the upcoming Aayla Secura unleashed.  I've pretty much been sticking to OT-only with these, but I'm sure this one will be popular.  You can check out a couple of pics here:

Hall of Justice / Re: Mattel Batman
« on: February 26, 2004, 10:22 AM »
Yeah, I was wondering that too...what exactly is in store for this line in 2004?  Obviously Mattel has problems with case ratios, etc., and there seems to be more than enough different "bat-variants".  Is the line continuing at all, or is it done as soon as "The Batman" starts, sometime in the fall?

I have looked at some of the DC Direct stuff, and that stuff is really nice too.  Since I haven't had comics for quite some time, I don't really go in comic shops anymore...but their line of stuff really looks great too.  I'm kind of in line with Morgbug though, I was looking for a nicely done, cheaper line to collect.  I'd just like to have a small, nice looking Batman collection to have......and now that consists of Zipline Batman :P.  I guess I'll wait and see where this line is headed before I jump in, or just wait for the next line if it is done well.  I will admit, I do kind of like the look of the new Batman (from "The Batman"), so we will see.

What other non-Bat figures are in the 6" Mattel line?  There is a Robin, Freeze, Killer Croc, Joker, Superman, and Nightwing?  I wasn't sure, I haven't followed the line close enough, but I was just curious.  Thanks for all the help and advice everyone.

« on: February 25, 2004, 04:11 PM »
I agree with you Morgbug, I'd like to see a Catwoman, Riddler, Penguin, and Two-face as well.  Also, is there a site out there that has pics of all the figures released in this current Mattel line?  I remember checking them out in the visual guides at OfftheCard.com, but that site is gone now.  Just curious.

I'm wondering too if this line is going to last, especially once the new "The Batman" animated line comes out in the fall (ish) time.  I'm not sure if I'm going to buy more figures or not, but I'd like to.  I feel bad, because once I tell my wife I am for sure just focusing on Star Wars from now on...I get the urge to collect something else (smaller).  I have never been big on variants, so I'll probably just see what is out there for regular, different figure versions and go from there.

Thanks for the info Morgbug!

Yeah, that was a heartbreaker to the Spurs on Sunday Scott.  Should be a great game tonight, kind of wish it was on ESPN so I could watch it.  The more I watch/listen to/read about Kevin Garnett, the more I think he is one of the class acts in the league today...on and off the court.  One of the biggest reasons I like the Wolves as well, I have always had respect for him.  Also...I hope you finals prediction is right  ;)

I don't know if it is the fact of seeing new stuff at Toy Fair, or that I caught a few episodes of Justice League on Cartoon Network lately, but I have been in a "Batman mood" lately.  I used to be a big fan, but kind of got out of comics and that sort of thing awhile back.  I still caught the Justice League cartoon for awhile, because I think it is pretty well done.  Anyways, while out shopping last weekend...and since no Star Wars was to be found, I decided to pick up the Zipline Batman.  It is nice to have a Batman figure on the desk here, and this really is a great figure (even though I am way behind and most of you have had this for months).  I have been debating whether or not to try to collect more of the line (not all the Bat-variants), but it usually doesn't sound like it is too fun to find these (thanks to Mattel).  Any current collectors out there?  What do you think of the line?  I'm interested to see what the new "The Batman" figures and show are going to be like.  I miss watching the Animated Series that used to be on.  Anyways, it is nice reading all of your comments on the line here, thanks!

Saga '02-'04 / 2004 Exclusives
« on: February 25, 2004, 12:38 PM »
Not sure where this should be posted, since some of this will be Saga product and some might be OTC.  Anyways, this list was just posted over at Rebelscum, and since it included the Sandcrawler, I figured I would post it here:

New Hasbro Stock List
Posted by Jeremy on February 25, 2004:

Thanks to Sprout we now have an inkling of what Hasbro will be bringing us this year. The list was good and long, and aside from the figures, multipacks and vehicles Rebelscum has already posted (see Related Stories at the bottom of this post) the following items are new and unannounced:

Basic Figures 4-pack Assortment

3-3/4" Naboo Final Conflict (June 2004)

3-3/4" Jedi Council Scene Packs

3-3/4" Jedi Council Scene I Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, Adi Mundi (March 2004)
3-3/4" Jedi Council Scene II Obi Wan, Plo Kloon, Ickath (May 2004)
3-3/4" Jedi Council Scene III Shaak Ti, Chema, Sta Sta (July 2004)
3-3/4" Jedi Council Scene IV Anakin, Sae Sae, Adegalia (September 2004)
3-3/4" Convention / Toy Fair Figure (July 2004)

Classic Vehicle Assortment

3-3/4" Y Wing (August 2004)
3-3/4" Tie Fighter w/New Wings & Pilot (July 2004)
3-3/4" Sandcrawler (June 2004)
3-3/4" ESB Slave I with Boba Fett (July 2004)

So, it looks to be there will be another 4 Jedi council sets (thus allowing us to utter the immortal phrase "the circle is complete"!), a mystery promotional figure, another Y-wing (rehashed or remodelled we do not know), a TIE Fighter with NEW wings and a re-released Slave I (which has been rumoured for some months now - but will it be the SOTE/POTF2 or Saga one?). The scale of the Sandcrawler has now been answered as well, calming fears that rumoured pricepoints would not have allowed it to be 3-3/4" scale.

All of the above items are FOB, meaning that retailers must order them in bulk direct from Hong Kong so remember that release dates are when they will be available for shipping from the Far East and NOT when they will be available on shelves. You should add 4 to 8 weeks to get a better estimate when you will actually see these toys arriving.
