I had this in my cart and then POOF!  It vanished.  Only got one exclusive

Same exact thing happened to everyone I know.

Same here.

Wow still available as of 6:20pm ET - I don't know if that's a good sign or a bad sign. The Aphra set was easy to score as well, I ended up getting a total of five of those (for the droids) before it sold out. If I see my order from today ship, and it's still in stock at that point, I might grab a third Luke 3-pack.

That's kind of what I was wondering. With all the talk of the 3 3/4" line, 6" figures, and now 5" figures. I wonder if it says anything that both the 6" figures sold out in 2 minutes, and the Luke TVC set is still available. I had the Fett in my cart, but was gone before I could check out.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Comic Book Thread
« on: September 1, 2019, 04:27 PM »
Been about a year, anyone reading comics these days? Like I seem to often post, I still love them but price and space has me cutting back a little more each year. Still keep up with the main Star Wars title, but sounds like that is ending in November (with some sort of replacement I'm sure). Otherwise I'm currently getting:

Amazing Spider-Man
Fantastic Four
Avengers
House of/Powers of X
Batman
The Flash

Also some limited stuff like Batman: Last Knight on Earth and the upcoming JJ Abrams Spidey project. I'm still considering dropping everything but Amazing Spider-Man and maybe the odd thing that catches my eye. The OCD in me kicks in where I'm like "well I have the first 50-75 issues, I just as well keep going". I need to get out of that mindset. Even with a shorter list, it adds up over the course of a month. With collecting getting more expensive all the time as well, changes have to be made.

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2018: What Are You Collecting?
« on: September 1, 2019, 04:14 PM »

DC Collectibles Batman The Animated Series: I put this every year, but the figures are harder and harder to find (i.e. my local comic stores have stopped buying new figures), and the production runs keep getting more and more limited, meaning the prices are higher on the secondary market. This line is the reason I started buying 6 inch scale toys, so it's disappointing to quit without having a complete set of the stuff I want, but it's looking like I'll have to.

I recently got out my Batman TAS figures (both Kenner and DC Collectibles), and was considering trying to get caught back up as well. Like you, this was on my list every year, and I was so pumped when they first started making these. As purchases in other lines picked up, I put these in the "I'll catch up later" category. I'd still like to do that, as I really love the style and it is one of my favorite shows....ever. Like you said though, they keep getting pricier. I thought I'd try to at least complete things from the original series (before the animation change - which I also liked), just to limit it a bit. It looks like they are kind of finishing some things out later this year with single releases (Ivy, Croc, Freeze, Bane) from the earlier box set. Still a pretty line though, but the $28 per figure price....yeesh.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2019 TVC Wave 6 (aka New TVC Wave 9)

I think I'd be down for a case of these as well. Honestly, the picks for the Rise of Skywalker characters seem pretty great overall, and I'm really looking forward to that Luke to be honest. I have a feeling there won't be many of these to go around on "Triple Force Friday", with retail focusing more on 5 and 6" stuff. Happy to be wrong though!

I've seen some people bring up the foreign (Japan?) boxed figures they had during the vintage era. Basically a cardboard box with a picture of the figure/character on the outside. It is funny how we have all this concern about paint apps, etc these days but in general it didn't seem to matter back then. Heck, even today if you are picking up vintage figures - aside from play wear things are pretty consistent overall. Simpler, of course, but very consistent from figure to figure outside of more intentional variations.

I really only collect carded with the vintage collection figures, and that is primarily OT ones (I also try to grab an extra of Han and Chewie each time they are released). I also feel that the Vintage Collection probably has a timer on it at this point to either end or be "rested" again. I love those cardbacks so much, but I don't know if they hold as much meaning to those who didn't grow up with them, and that is a slowly shrinking group. Other than that, I guess I could are less if they minimized packaging if it helped the environment or even lowered costs/prices somehow. I think the recent Black Series SDCC exclusives have essentially been plastic free, so we know it can work there. The 3 3/4" line might be more challenging, but it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Big Items of the Future!
« on: August 27, 2019, 12:54 PM »
Personally I think their aiming too big with the choices for Haslab.

Do a Yoda’s hut, or a Hoth Rebel Transport, or an Imperial Dignitaries 5-pack, or Vader on a funeral pyre... or the Tonnika Sisters... there are tons of affordable but somewhat pricey,  smaller and mid-sized things they could do that collectors want but probably wouldn’t do well in stores.  Not every project needs to be $500 or $700 and enormous.

This. My feelings exactly. I get that the large items are splashy and headline grabbers, but imagine how those smaller projects would succeed. Just using your Yoda's hut as an example, I would be all over that...as I'm guessing most old school collectors would be. It isn't something they would probably do at a retail level, and it wouldn't have to be so expensive.

I've often thought the same thing for GI Joe stuff. A lot of talk is Joe has stated "dead" for now because war/army stuff is a tougher sell these days. Unless they have a hidden plan on the comeback of GI Joe, why not throw an item up on Haslab to see how it goes. It doesn't necessarily have to be a $900 U.S.S. Flagg either.

Other Toy Lines / Re: What Toyline Would You Most Like to See?

I thought the quality on those 3.75" figures was pretty bad.  I'd be okay with 3.75" figures if they could be Star Wars Vintage Collection-like quality.  I would also want to re-buy a lot of the original figures not really up to snuff.

Count me in for this as well. With the face printing, like for example the recent Han Stormtrooper TVC figure, we could finally get a really great Indy figure. Despite a wonky start with paint problems, I really loved that Indy line. Some of the later (and sadly harder to get) figures in that line are pretty great. I'd be down with a return as well. Side note though, I would like a Black Series-esque Indiana Jones figure. They wouldn't necessarily have to do the entire line if we were getting 3 3/4" figures, but a nice Ultimate Indy would be cool. I know I'd be in for awhile line here as well.

Other Toy Lines / What Toyline Would You Most Like to See?
« on: August 25, 2019, 08:38 PM »
If you could pick a toy line(s) that aren't currently out there, what would you like to see made? A new scale on an old favorite? A modern version of a line from your childhood? Maybe something based on a movie, show, cartoon, book or comic that you'd like to see done? Admittedly, with the tremendous runs of 3 3/4" Star Wars and GI Joe, various incarnations of the Transformers, and Masters of the Universe (and soon to be Thundercats) classics, not to mentions Superheroes from each of the big two...a lot of my childhood favorites have been covered. Here is a few off the top of my head, in no particular order:

1: M.A.S.K. - I didn't have a lot of it as a kid, but loved what I had and always wanted more. Seems like it could maybe do well today with a modern version

2. Silverhawks - Kind of went hand in hand with Thundercats for me, and to a lesser extent He-Man. The toy lines then weren't exactly compatible, but could be now. A nice line of Silverhawks classics.

3. 6" scale G.I. Joe - This, like Star Wars, is first and foremost a 3 3/4" line, but I think there is room for a larger scale line as well. Between the 25th/30th/50th etc. lines I'm fairly happy with my modern Joe collection in that scale, and there is just something about imagining a Marvel Legends styled Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow display

I know I'm likely in too. I was already pretty much sold when they showed off the SDCC exclusive, but the Battle Cat pretty much seals it. My favorite as a kid, and still today. Wish it wasn't a year away  :)

With the rumors of the Triple Force Friday figure offerings consisting of 5" figures, a wave of Vintage Collection figures, and a wave of Black Series figures...it does make me wonder what we will see in the way of vehicles. I know there are some things rumored for the Galaxy of Adventures line, and two possible Vintage Collection vehicles (Luke's X-Wing?), but it would be strange if that was it. One of the main draws of the 3 3/4 scale in the first place was the ability to interact with vehicles and environments. But, at the same time, I can hardly remember a vehicle release since the Force Awakens that didn't get clearanced, so maybe they don't hold the interest of kids much anymore.

The Vintage Collection / Re: What Would Be "The End" For You?
« on: August 21, 2019, 08:29 PM »
This might fit in the "future of" thread as well, but just a topic that has come up again lately. I like to be a positive person, and don't mean for this to be a "the line is dead!" Thread, but it is starting to look like there won't be a "basic" 3 3/4" line for the Rise of Skywalker. It sounds as if we will still get some Vintage Collection figures, but it will probably be somewhat limited. All that being said, it is starting to seem like it is possible that the 3 3/4" scale might be heading towards the end, or at the very least become much more limited.

At this point, if we get to the point where Star Wars collecting - at least affordable, retail level stuff - is either 5" or 6", how would your collecting change? Would it end when/if the 3 3/4" scale did, would you focus more on 6", switch focus to another property, or something else altogether? I personally hope we continue to get Vintage Collection figures, even if it is only 16-20 figures per year. If they eventually move on, I'd probably continue to pick and choose from Black Series, save some money, or focus on vintage toys more.

Man, we heard about this last October? It really has been awhile. I know it was expected "Fall 2019", but have we heard anything about this lately. Looking forward to it myself.

Interesting to see if that actually extends to the bubbles/Windows on current toys. I mean, they mention it, but is there an action figure out there that doesn't use that in some shape or form? I can't imagine basically buying things blind boxed all of the time. I mean, I love the vintage collection cardbacks, but outside of that I don't know that I care. Save the world, and minimize packaging. The face printing may take out some of the guesswork as to the quality of a figure, but there could still be errors/problems.

Based on the echo in here I might be the only one collecting these things....

I actually really like this line as well, but haven't been able to pick any up for awhile. I try to keep up with the OT ones for sure, but they are all neat. I've grabbed a couple Marvel ones as well, and the Buzz and Woody from Toy Story.
