Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Today Is A Sad Day
« on: June 15, 2003, 12:24 AM »
My heart goes out o you DSJ,. If you were around last year at the scum, you sholuld remember that I had to let my lil dog Mario go. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I cried for days. But in time you will heal, just remember how much you loved her and the joy she provided the family.

Thanks Morgy, or shoudl I show repeact to my elders and call you sir???  ;D Anyways thanks for reminding me about the Thompson Twins. I just popped in the Wedding singer DVD, it has the song in it's Karaoke section. I am so singing along.

Now I think I'll watch the movie. :D It so reminds me of the 80's!!!!

Another one hit wonder is..........

Sugar Hill Gang: Rapper's Delight

The Bullpen / Re: Marvel Legends

DC figs do indeed suck, but being a Marvel guy, I don't mind much.  Probably because so much Batman stuff has been produced.  Even the Justice League figures are statue like.  Certainly not posable like the Legends line.

Yea, you're right. I am also a Marvel girl, have been since I really got into comics, back in the 5th grade. And even before that Marvel was the place to get the only titles I ever picked up Transformers and GI JOE. Then suffice to say after starting with Fantastic Four #305 I was hooked.

But I do have a soft spot for DC, after all in the 80's they had the Superman movies, re-runs of the delightfully campy Batman show, and weekend airings of the campy  Batman movie, and of course the Super Friends. The only thing that ruined it, were those stupid Ownder Twins. ::) Plus I still remember bits and pieces of Wonder Woman with Linda Carter. So DC has been with me since youth, but comics wise there is no freakin comparison, Marvel all the way, or better yet; make mine Marvel!!!!!

Also in the 80's DC's  Super Power's figures were so much better than Marvel's Secret Wars line. But now Marvel Legends beats them hands down.

Speaking of Marvel Legends I am so jonesin for the Punisher figugure. I haven't had one since the crappy Toy Biz one from way back in the days. back when Ty Biz was crappy. So who here collected those figures, just cause we were happy to get any Marvel figures!!! ;D I know I was, but theyr were pretty bad. Good thing Toy Biz has improved so much since then.

That's the whole idea DSJ. Remember my favorite decade ever is the 80's,a nd music being one of the main reasons. So anything to get people talking 80's, where alot of one hit wonders came from, sadly to say.

Ok guys really try to keep it to one band an one song, that way we can give eveyone a chance, but you know some fo the mulitple replies I don't even know so I guess it's ok. Thnaks Jedi Mac for trying to get a lil order around hea.  :-* That was for you. ;)

Ok my next sond is again one of my faves and if I ever hear it on the radio I turn it so loud that everyone turns their heads.

AhaTake on me

I love that song, it's so freaking catchy.

Josheee,MK2 was da bomb!I always played as Scorpion.

Now as for street fighter,I have never played it,I might try to find one sometime.

Wow, you missed out on some great times. I also would head on down to the local Stop N Rob (Go) and playwith all the neighborhood kids. We would have tounaments and see who was the greatest of all of us. We even had some college kids come down and try to play us, they beat some of us but once me and these other two guys stepped in they were no match. I used Blanka to humiliate them, while Kim and Noel used Ryu to send shoryukens up their butts!! ;D

While I could beat the game with everyone, when it came down to serious business while playing other gamers Blanka was unstoppable.  ;)

So anyone have a favorite fatality, other than your characters fatality. I think the one that still makes me laugh out loud to this day is Smoke's Fatality where he drops a hundred billlion bombs and blows up the world. Man, the first time I saw that I could not stop laughing, I had to give up my game to my friend cause I kept on busting out with laughter. Suffice to say that he is my favorite character in the Trilogy series, he is so easy to be cheap with. His combo is devastatingly cheap!!!! ;D

Oh that's ok. To me those are statues, not figures. But the Marvel Legends line is the greatest comic line ever!!! If I could only get some DC figures with that much articulation, I'd be having some Battle to end all Battles. But alas the only figures from DC are those over priced direct merchant figures, from DC Direct. And they have lil to no articulation, compared to the Marvel legends line that is.

Last thread befoer I head off to work. I brought this up I thik at GH, and it was received well, so I figured I'd ask again. So what was you character in Street Fighter II? And on that same note, another question, who was your character in Mortal Kombat?? And why did you you your characters???

Street Fighter II: Blanka
Why: I loved using him, I was nearly unstoppable with him. I remember walking into an arcade and this bigger kid was beating up all the younger kids, so being the instigator I plunked my quarteer in and beat him with two perfects. The guy skipped the next in line and played me again, again I beat his butt. Oh the kids were havng a blast watching me nail the big kid.

Mortal Kombat: Raiden
Why: I just thought he was a cool looking character. Never had seen anyone like him before. But if all else failed, I would turn to Sub Zero, the ultimate cheap character. ;D And their fatalities were sweet.

So who were your characters??

The THOH sets keep getting better and better, I might get this one. Just for the Comic Book Guy and Xena. That is if I can find one, even though I didn't really look for the last one, it would have been nice to find one.

Well don't worry Morgy, we all can't be young if we remember actual MTV videos!!! ;D Oh and if there is a video from the song, then it's proably a good indication that we should know it. ;D

ANd JediMac, that is one hell of a classic, love that song.

And I will add the next group and song. They may have some more albums and popular songs, but this is the one that made them explode, and the only one that I remember.

Devo: Whip It

430
Really? I liked em. I have since I was s lil girl and they used to play their videos on MTV, back when MTV played videos.

Hey I got to see them open up for Poison back in '01 over at San Antonio. IT was a pretty good concert, The Glam Slam Metal Jam. Poison was headlining. Let see if I can remember the lineup.

Bullet Boys, they sucked.
Enuff ZNuff, they didn't play their one hit.
Quiet Riot
Vince Neil, he played all of the aweome Crue songs.
Warrant, and they kicked so much butt, with thier song Cherry Pie
Poison, I don't care about what people say about glam rock, these guys put on one hell of a show. Worth every penny I spent. If you get a chance to go definately check em out.

Oh and Quiet Riot had an autograph session and I got all of their signiatures. They seem pretty cool and freindly to their fans.

That was funny. I didn't recognize the name or song either. Wow are ya that old Morgy??? ;)

Anyways my next artist's song is still one of my faves, no matter what people say about the artist. This was and still is one hell of a dance song, they play it at the clubs everytime I go.

Vanilla Ice: Ice Ice Baby

In fact I still can sing a good portion of the lyrics. :o

432

« on: June 13, 2003, 11:38 AM »
I remember starting one of these at the sucm I think, and figured it needs to be done again!! ;D So name one band and their one hit song!!!!! Try to keep it to only one band per reply so that everyone can name one!!!! And anything that somg meant to you, if anything

The Divinyls: I Touch Myself

Now some of you downunder may say, what I may be talking about, but here in the states that was there one big hit. They may had a following before and after, but it was this song that made them a name here. Anyways I love this song, and wish I could get a copy w/o having to buy the whole album.
