That would be sweet. I just hope that they've abandoned the Trilogy repack idea. I hope, I hope, I hope. That would probably have worked better if I had ruby shoes.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Scarface DVD... with rap stuff in it?

I remember when I watched a mini-marathon of MTV Cribs, and nearly every rapper they talked to made reference to the movie 'Scarface.' One dude even had a bigass poster of the art in his living room. So that's probably why they had all the Def Jam stuff in the case--marketing to what they perceive to be their biggest single market.

I found the green boxed set of Arwen/Asfaloth and Ringwraith/Steed at Target yesterday. That's weird. I don't know if they're old stock or not, because I couldn't find a date stamp on any of the four boxes there.

The first Cave Troll had a lot more screen time than the Balrog, plus he was smaller. Why the second got made, I'll never know. Maybe TB sold it to retailers cheap, because the mold should be paid for by now.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Best vintage deals you've gotten

$3.50 each for the following loose figures:
Blue Snaggletooth
Anakin Skywalker

Snag was missing his blaster and was in a bit of a rough shape. Anakin was as mint as the day he came off the card (or out of the bag, whatever).
I found them at an antigue store around 1994 when my parents were looking for door hinges. Strangest find I've ever had.

No doubt. With some of the assheads collecting Star Wars, people will see us like they do Hot Wheels collectors-- smelly jerkwads.

Not good.

I wonder if that's the Gondor theme at the end there. Man, this flick is going to be amazing. I simply cannot wait.

www.theonering.net has the brand spanking new ROTK trailer on their main page. It's got some subtitles, as it's taken from Asian TV, and it's a long download, but it is worth the wait.

All the more I'll say is: Holy living f***, it's awesome. AWESOME.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: New Line has license for 'The Hobbit'
« on: September 27, 2003, 01:40 AM »
I'll copy the text here, with apologies to Geb (hey man, the site takes a life-age to load today.)

"In the News: HUGE Small Little Tidbit of Hobbit News
Today we learned something that should not come to a surprise to anyone who has ever visited this site or any other Lord of the Rings collector /movie site. As most of you know (or don't) Peter Jackson intended to make The Hobbit FIRST, but both he and New Line ran into difficulty with licensing issues. PJ plainly stated this in the most recent Fan Club interview. To avoid dragging it out, they decided to pursue the trilogy instead...and I bet we are all glad they did! Now for the new news...according to sources that I WILL NOT name under penalty of death, New Line has worked out the licensing issues for The Hobbit and now OWNS THE RIGHTS. In other words, they will more than likely be making The Hobbit sometime in the near future. As far as Peter Jackson's being director...unknown at this point, but he definitely wants to be involved (director or producer?). Stay tuned for more details as we learn more.

SPECIAL NOTE: Neither Toybiz, nor any other licenses collectible producer for the New Line Movies has rights to The Hobbit...so it will be ANOTHER bidding war for toys, and collectibles alike if The Hobbit comes to pass. Hope and pray that Toybiz, Sideshow, Play Along, etc. retain the licenses and we get the appropriate scale figures/toys from The Hobbit to go along with their trilogy line. Lets just hope we get a Deluxe SMAUG!"

I can't honestly believe Wal-Mart could have killed this if it was offered exclusively to TRU. I mean, they've stocked the 12" Tauntauns and the Dewback, they wouldn't have blinked at a smaller $25-30 exclusive. If it was rotocast, it'd have been cheaper.

I guess, when it was offered, LOTR wasn't near as big as it is now.

I bought a 12-pack of A&W root beer in 12- oz. cans, and the cans had Legolas from LOTR pictured on them!! Sweet. Made my evening. :)

Watto's Junk Yard / 'The Hobbit' movie

They've finally secured the rights to The Hobbit.
Great news! Hopefully whomever decides to direct it keeps the same design elements as those established in LOTR, for continuity's sake.

There's drive-up A&W in a small town near here, open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, IIRC. I typically go to a Long John Silver's/ A&W combo joint when I get a hankerin' for clogged arteries and root beer.

I tried frosting one of the mugs for myself at home, but I left it in the freezer too long and it broke when I set it on the counter. Damn, I'm out three bucks.
