The Vintage Collection / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting?
« on: September 25, 2021, 04:50 PM »
I've gone through the highs and lows but the lull in passion never got to where i wanted to ditch the 3.75" collection. Gone is the neuroticism of the early years.

Personal interest has been at high for me the last few years to the point I bought a lot of key figures I missed or ships I skipped when they came out. (Thank the almighty I started this before prices took a massive jump.)

It's funny; i buy the toys to relive the movies. Now I youtube collectors picking up older toys to relive the buzz I got from when i bought those same toys. Haha.

I can understand Hasbro trying to avoid products flooding discounters like we saw in the late 20-teens. I'm confident they're establishing better baselines that'll make short stocking less frequent.

These Droids figures are great. I'm glad the $15.99 gets us a coin and isn't just from mark-up. I think they can cobble together a few characters with a mix of re-used and new parts; and if the numbers are there, figures from all-new parts.

Sign me up. I'm a big fan of realistic versions of the cartoons.

And I know it's way too premature (and 99.9% sure it won't happen), but I'd love to see non-animated renditions from Visions. That would be world building.

C-3PO molded in the same colors as the original Droids figure I can see. Realistic Fett in animated color scheme we had. I can picture how R2 will be done.

I'm in.

Any idea if they charge when you order, or do they wait until they're ready to ship? Has anyone had to deal with that before?

Walmart charges when they're ready to ship.

Contact the cc company and see if they'll allow the order to go through when Walmart processes it.

Would love to see the army builder packs carried over to other types of troops.

The Vintage Collection / Re: TVC Gaming Greats Line

My backup pre-order for the Gaming Greats from HasbroPulse came to $16.45 for each of the 3 they carry. Now that retail moved up to $15.99 -- in line with the $15.99 EE was charging for the Purge Trooper -- I'm looking at $17.55 w/ tax for future Fan Channel figs.  :'(

On top of the lower prod numbers, some of the price increases are tied to the added costs of importing because of the congestion at China and US ports, and I expect hope we'll see prices go down a bit when dock operations normalize.

I found this article a few days ago about the backlog in the US.

$14.99 and difference should be the tax.

I wound up pre-ordering all 4 and a few other figs from Old Republic Collectibles because of my snit with EE for not combining pre-orders to determine shipping. (Something like $30 for 6 figures!? And I think I know why they do that, but they can offer an option similar to BBTS' pile of loot.)

But I started to have doubts about ordering from ORC when even HasbroPulse, notorious for coming to the party late, started shipping out (minus the EE exclusive) and I hadn't heard a peep. But ORC pulled through. I got the notification on Sunday and the figures yesterday.

This was a good week for my toy world.

DS Droid and Luke yesterday and Tuskens on Wed. Walmart is as Walmart does with the quality of packing and separate shipments. Happy to have them, though.

Might need to grab another Luke. Face deco on mine makes him look like a mannequin.

Ordered Maul and Ahsoka from Gamestop. Both went from something like "ready to ship" on 8/16 or 8/18 to "awaiting product availability". Now Maul says available 8/27. We'll see. Hoping these are finally getting through for everyone.

My niece happened to be at Disneyland on the 17th but I didn't see the blurb in time to ask her to check. Ugh. Wound up buying one on eBay just to get it done with.

That astromech was visible. Can you imagine someone keeping this vehicle sealed, opening it or re-selling it in a few years and only finding out then the figure is missing? Or worse, the figure is missing and the vehicle replaced?

Whether I find it online or brick-and-mortar, I'm also checking immediately.

Wonder how many d-bags will pre-order, snag the Merrick, then return the ship to a brick and mortar?
