Vintage Kenner / Re: Modern Vintage Repros

I understand that.

On the other hand, something like 80's Yak Face was never meant to be rare. It's not a Faberge Egg or something. It was a  toy that underproduced before the days when a collectors market was even acknowledged.

Suppose they were bootlegged and somehow indistinguishable from the originals. That would mean the old ones are worth more because they are old? Their decaying plastic more valuable?

Or what if a warehouse was found with 500,000  Kenner Yak-face figures...all originals mint on card...which would lower the market value. Would collectors be mad that what was once rare became common? A lot of them, yes, because of what they paid for the originals, but also because it is about pride to some people, having that rare thing. Folks want unique collections but collect mass produced items!  (One of the absurdities of being a collector.)

All the same I'd be cool if Hasbro made a retro Yak-Face (with proper foot hole size, dammit) and it was different enough from the 80's version to keep folks from getting too cranky. Then the true originals would remain such. And I could have an old style figure to add to my old collection. Hasbro probably won't do that, though. That's where the collector-aimed bootleg market comes from, when a company abandons the old style and there's still demand for retro product.

We once again discover most of the far out ideas, for better or worse, were from  Lucas.

I'd forgot Hondo Ohnaka  existed...so many characters on the show.

Not the dread Mark Poon!  :o

Never heard of him. Not up on modern vintage bootlegs. I think people get a bit too worked up over repro accessories, figures though I can understand...especially if they started making Yak Face...I can that would be problem for serious collectors...and I totally would get one.  :P

I rarely saw Logray and maybe Bariss twice.

Basically, screw most of that Revenge wave that was wasted case slots. Though again, most of that didn't linger around here due to the holidays. Only Han in coat was readily available. Saw the dark skinned Rebel Commando just once.

Why the need for a new Rex body and a less articulated one at that?

The only figure there I might get is Aayla because I missed her.

My interest in Clone Wars figures has been waning, it's almost gone now.

They could literally do a whole wave of different Padme costumes.

And they'd sit on store pegs for years.  ;)

They're busy rigging the full results, too. It will be loaded characters they were already going to make within the next year so they can say "see, we listen to the fans!"

These won't be battle packs (which are now 3 figures), they'll be "milk the collectors" packs like Battle of Endor pilots, Republic Commandos and Force Unleashed. I wouldn't be surprised by a $35 to $40 price tag on these sets.

I think the show will end with Ahsoka alive.

I'd say that Kenobi has to kill Maul again...since he was robbed of that, but who knows...Sith on Sith violence could happen.

Carol and Maggie are gonna cause as much trouble as Lori.  The way they write women on this show sometimes.

They were in a rush to get off the highway, too much...if they weren't thinking about gasoline.

Some tidbits on the talk show that airs after it:

-Hershell was originally planned to be killed by an escaped Randal, but they wisely changed their minds.

-Jimmy was to be the thing Dale found in the field, this was before Dale was gonna be killed off I think.

-It was 27 degrees when they filmed the barn night scenes. Zombie Breath had to be removed via CGI

Lack of ball jointed shoulders, no wrists, no ankles seem like more than a little less. To me anyway. The shoulders were the deal breaker.

In addition to the cancelled Wal-Mart DVD 2-packs, TJ Maxx has the fall 2011 CW Battle Packs for $13.

No Kamino sets here. Saw Capture of the Droids and Hunt for Grievous.

So did anyone on that planet survive besides the astro droid?

I'd think Maul would kill them all anyway. I would've sent a fleet...maybe 15 minutes behind Kenobi, so he didn't know.

Dangling plot threads to the show, and this season mostly avoided pursuing them. We had two 4-part episodes that were stand alone. Another Zygerian arc that ate up 3 episodes. 3 more with Mon calamari. The mostly disposable R2 3PO adventures. In the broader storylines, that left us with the season end arc and the one-off Death Watch episode. The only significant deaths of previously seen characters were Tarpals and that 212th clone (Waxer?). Secondary Jedi seemed underused (Krell aside, whom we'd never seen before). Dooku appeared more than ever it felt like.

It wasn't a bad season, though. It's just that some parts of it felt short (Maul's story) and others too long (the underwater war, and arguably the Umbara arc). Plus the odd break up of the Zygerian 3 parter...waiting a month for its resolution.

So, is the new Jar Jar figure in this assortment? Is he going to be released in the Vintage line eventually?

No. Jar Jar is coming later this year on vintage card only. The current Jar Jar is different, less articulated on a Movie Heroes card.
