I'd say that the statue-like 2002 releases capture the truer look of the phase 1 clone helmet. Neither the pop-on ball socket head nor a removable helmet capture the onscreen look of the clones, which is a much more sealed in appearance. But I haven't even seen the new phase 1 figure.

I also thought the 2005 phase 2 quick draw clone was better in some areas than the beloved #41 (such as the ability to sit, and having less neck joint exposed).

That's pretty much been par for the course for the past couple of seasons of Clone Wars.  There has been a good deal of EU backstory that was established in novels.  Karen Traviss wrote a great deal about the Mandalorians only to have it contradicted in large part by the Mandalorian story arcs of season 2 with Obi-Wan's trip to Mandalore and the Death Watch.

But wasn't it worth it for all the exciting Death Watch stories we got in season 3?  :P

Anyone else think it was funny how Piel must've been made out of asbestos?  Dude wouldn't burn yet that dog thing went up like it had gasoline coming out of its pores.

Yeah, but techinically everyone should've died from the sheer heat all that lava was putting out (same goes for Mustafar in ROTS).

I get a little tired of alien animals that are so equivalent to earth animals.

Also, the only survivor was Tarkin. They couldn't just let one no-name clone live for the heck of it.

I think the story was an episode too long, actually.

Got El-Les and Aqua Droid at Wal-Mart (managed to miss most of the last two vintage waves that store case of each, probably  ::) )

El-Les's lack of ankles is still a bummer, but they way they did his shoulders is great, making the vest shoulders seperate so they moves with the arms rather than restricting movement. He can almost do his thinking pose from the card picture.

My aqua droid's head seems wobbly, but it's a fun  figure and substantial (big) for a single carded figure...makes the $8 easier to part with.

Wolfe looks cool and I almost got Ahsoka, though her painted face skin looks odd compared to the rest of her skin, mostly molded. It's funny her card art is sooo angry, but the figure is neutral expressioned.

I don't care about Anakin...haven't gotten a new Anakin figure in years. Maybe if they'd given him ankles and a normal left hand and he was on sale.

Malikili I can almost see since the Rancor came out at around the same time...  And he had some sort of direct tie to Luke or a Luke moment in the Palace...  Ponda Baba the same deal, even moreso since he's directly tied to attacking Luke and getting cut down by Ben...  They make more sense then, than some of the other characters who were seen less, or did less... Like say a Labria, or the Weequay Skiff Guard here (who many already like).

This Weequay here is the guard about to jab Luke off into the Sarlacc, I'd say that's a direct tie into Luke even more than Malakili. Not that it's really worthy of debate. (The Rancor thing, why didn't they include him with the Rancor...was the risks of losing sales because TImmy's parents think he doesn't want a fat shirtless man with a big monster greater than having lingering Rancor Keeper figures on pegs...and...I regret not getting Malakili actually, I should move on... ;) )

Anyway, I hadn't realized that the POTF2 Weequay had been recolored 2 times in the past 6 years or so, thanks to two battle packs. I'd say they'd milked the mold for its worth.

Given the sheer numbers of battle droids and the ability to produce more daily compared to the growing time of clone and training time of Jedi, the CIS probably could've won the war if the whole conflict hadn't been engineered by the Sith.

Hasbro press photos of the next Legends assortment show Spacetrooper...which is really the POTF2 Dark Trooper. OOPS! Also, the Saga 2006 kit bash Boba Fett. What will be on the actual cards, though, remains to be seen.

I saw one today at a Wal-mart, too. It may be the only new Star Wars thing that Wal-Mart has gotten all year.

The snowtroopers have popped up via Asia area sellers

Hoth Battle Snowtroopers

They are sloooow to change Legends' line-up, though.

As for the idea of ending of Legends being integrated with Vintage, what would probably happen is that Hasbro repacks the same crop of Legends figures on vintage cards as part of the vintage assortment (They've really already have done this with Super Battle Droid and ROTS Obi Wan), therefore you have the same  repacks/peg warmers on fancier card backs...arguably making things worse than before since they'd have the same SKU as vintage. Does anyone remember the late 90's? The same figures shipped over and over and nothing new to be found because stores were packed to the gills with Tarkins, rancor keepers, Ponda Babas  and so forth, and the stores stopped ordering to the point that a wave was cancelled and sent to the fan club. If Legends merged with Vintage, you can take the current the Vintage Sandtroopers and ROTS Clones stuck at stores and mulitply them times 10.

Hey, they redid Malakili. That figure, of a shirtless fat man (not exactly mass appeal), was one of the biggest peg warmers of POTF, alongside Ponda Baba...who is also getting a new figure.

So when they say they won't redo means in the immediate future.

I wonder if Hasbro will continue the CP format at some point after 2012... they're releasing EU figures on Vintage cards, why not just return the CP line?

Because it failed.

Or was deemed a failure.

Strange, thinking of all the cantina types they gave holsters to and the imperial scanning crewman who clearly never had any.

Things are looking different for the sequel (August 12, 2012 release date)

Sienna Miller said she wouldn't come back.

And From Rachel Nichols' twitter
GI JOE 2 News Flash: The only characters to return in the JON CHU directed sequel will be SNAKE EYES, STORM SHADOW, and DUKE...

Wow. I thought Tatum blew, and he's one of two speaking characters returning. Maybe Shipwreck will be added to this trainwreck!

So COBRA rose and now what...the one character who most likely died is the only Cobra?  ???

Decapitating? That would've been hardcore.

I hope for a Kenner style recolor of this Ponda Baba. Maybe not with cartoon eyes. They did 4-LOM and Zuckuss!
