The Vintage Collection / Re: Vintage Collection Rumors
« on: June 7, 2012, 11:14 AM »
The TRU still has a few of the "Shadows of the Dark Side" packaged AT-AT's.

Dunno if this signals the upcoming end of Vintage or what, repackaging things out there in one last money grab, because they sure could wait on the AT-AT and the Falcon until closer to when OT movies are rereleased.

Since my walmarts never carried thier Royal Starship droids, I ordered online and picked them up there. How come walmarts get to choose to carry or not carry their own exclusives?

I wondered that years ago when people in other parts of the country were not only getting Wal-Mart exclusives  that never appeared at any of the 3 locations near me, but even getting them on clearance

I wrote most of them off. I'm not going  to pay more than retail because the NATION'S LARGEST TOY RETAILER won't stock its own exclusives.

The only thing I gave in and bought was the black/red GI JOE MMS from the Rise of Cobra movie line, because I never had the vintage one. Had the local stores stocked it and the sets released with it, I might have bought the other sets, too.

Buy one, get one 40% off all Star Wars at Toys R Us.

Downside is I think some of their sales ended today on stuff like the Y-Wing, rebel transport speeder, geonosian speeder, etc.

And the other downside, my local one is either too worked over or never gets anything new. The gas money I've wasted going there I could've used to buy stuff online.

What other scary sounding numbers are left?

I think I can say based on the images in the link below that the new Tarkin sucks.

I'd even say the POTF2 version looks better in some ways. But I'll probably buy the new one anyway.

Still no Commander Fox image.

And why are they overshipping Yoda?

I got an 80's one past weekend free at a yard sale, slightly discolored.

I like the modern vintage style figure, but got tired of the Vintage style's dirty shoes and weathered mid-section. The elbows never bend in enough, either.

Looking at the movie stills, the pouches on the mid section should be bigger. Yet, I know Hasbro hasn't made them such, because they are visually the worst aspect of the costume.  It's like the exposed black body suit areas on a stormtrooper. In the movies, they certainly have more visible "body glove" than the toys usually do, but it's not doing the characters any favors.

Yeah, the Rex I saw today looked like bad weathering. Bad weathering on a bad figure.

Saw the deluxe Republic Attack Fighter thingie. the paint ops on Anakin's head were about dollar store knock-off level. And there's a hole in the plastic on left hand at the wrist . One of the worst quality control failure figures I've seen from Hasbro in some time.

It's not universal. At the Wal-Mart I stopped at they scanned at $25.

That Wal-mart had the new clone wars wave and Movie Heroes, too.

Buy one get one 50% at TRU for All Star Wars, GI JOE, Spider-man, Marvel action figures.

At the online store it applies to Vintage. In theory that applies to retail, too.

Panic may be right!  :o

Variety reporting that Joe will have no retail presence during hiatus and that retailers are being instructed not to sell retaliation still in stockrooms: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118054684

So if you see something buy it quick!

I saw a couple of figures I liked the looks of, but $10 each? Ouch.

Surprisingly found a Rebel Ground Transport at TRU for 30% off. That makes it about the price it should be.

Kroger of all places had the new Movie Heroes figures, except Qui-Gon and Maul. Padme's head sculpt is awful, I think.

Saw some GI JOE RETALIATION figures.

Marshalls and TJ Maxx suck lately, guess Five Below got the rest of the AoTC cases. They had Grumpy Smurf with a bridge and rowboat for $3 on clearance. Lousy looking bridge, though.

Hasbro's official statement:
Quote
“G.I. Joe is an ongoing consumer franchise and therefore there is merchandise available to consumers.  There is a limited amount of G.I. Joe Retaliation product at retail now, but in light of the movie moving out to March 29, 2013, the majority of the movie line will be made available early next year in time for the film’s release.”

Scramble to the stores...buy what you can now!  :o

Or whatever. I might pick up that HISS Tank.
