Gentle Giant / Re: Gentle Giant Mini-Busts

I just got the email - but it's useless to me since I can't go.  Hopefully Dale was near a computer somewhere.

If the movie does well (which it will) they'll make sequels.  Which means more Transformers toys 3 years from now.  Transformers could be huge for Hasbro over the next decade.

Cool that the show is going to get to wrap up clean in a few years.  I wish there were more like 22 or 23 episodes per season, but oh well.

I've got the Hasbro and Unleashed versions.  And I don't like them.  The only other one I have any interest in is the Gentle Giant Bust - and at $350+ I won't be getting one for a very long time.

No doubt.

I'll be happy with anything that isn't last place at this point.  At least there was this encouraging tid bit today:

May 8 Zambrano's arm slot is lower than usual this season, and it could be partly responsible for his poor start, the Cubs' Web Site reports.

Recommendation: Zambrano's been working with pitching coach Larry Rothschild to correct the issue. As long as the glitch in his mechanics isn't injury related (and there's no indication that it is), we expect Zambrano to be fine going forward.

I really find Yahoo advice to be too little too late in most cases.  I always get advice that guys are sitting out a game popping up mid-way through the 7th inning ::)  We've just learned that Wells is sitting out with a touch of the flu...  Jeez, I knew that 6.5 innings ago, thanks.

I got one of those just today:

"May 8 KFFL has learned Cincinnati Reds OF Josh Hamilton is not in the lineup for the game Tuesday, May 8. Ryan Freel is starting in center field."

Thanks.

Of course, I don't have time to pull him, and then they use him as a pinch hitter in the 9th - so I use an entire game for a 0/1 effort.

Same thing happened with my catcher today - and he got a hit - which was part of one of my closers (Dempster) blowing a save, that not only cost me the save, but cost my SP Lily the win.

Just my luck.

So, how'd the prom go Diddly? ;) I won't be going to mine, coming up sometime soon here, but it's supposed to be one of the highlights of high school//senior year.

To hell with it.  I skipped mine to go see Snapcase and Sick of it All in Kentucky - never regretted it for a second.

It's not really worth complaining about if you ask me.  The video game delay screwed up their production schedule.  Since it takes over a year to get a figure from the drawing board to the shelves, there was virtually no chance of new figures or pushing forward 2008 figures.  So they're doing the best they can and trying to come up with some semi-clever repaint/repack items to keep product flowing.

Not the greatest thing ever, but not the end of the world at all.

Yahoo's advice sure is odd.

May 5 Carpenter will undergo arthroscopic surgery next week after an exam showed recurrent swelling, stiffness and loss of motion in his right elbow.

Advice: The team had hoped to have Carpenter back in the lineup this week, but that's obviously not going to happen. A 15-game winner last year, Carpenter has not pitched this season and will be out at least three months.

So if he hasn't pitched this season how is he 0-1 with a 7.50 era?

Yahoo's just wrong right?

As for saving gas, the only real way to do it is to drive less.  Which is what I try to do.  I hate driving.

I'm the complete opposite, I love driving.  I find it relaxing and it takes my mind off of the day.

Polluting and supporting terrorism makes you relaxed!?  Ouch.   8)  :-*

Being a skeptic (of AGW) I'd be skeptical about the claim too.  What I'm not skeptical about is people dumping a perfectly good four cylinder car just to get into a hybrid.  You are then doubling the carbon footprint on the manufacturing aspect to save a relatively small amount of carbon output, depending largely on your driving needs.

Well in fairness if you trade it in then it goes to someone else.  So long as the car doesn't go to the scrap heap those effects aren't really a factor.  Or so I'd think.

I was really just trying to give Rob a hard time, because it's fun.  I would caution against rushing into a hybrid as most reports I hear is that they spend more time in the garage than comparable gas only models.  And that's while still on warranty.

I don't know a lot of people personally who have them, but I've got one neighbor with a Prius and they love the thing.  They've probably had it a little over a year.  I haven't read up on them because I haven't been in the market but I'd think that if there were serious problems with them, we'd all know about it and sales would be poor.

As for saving gas, the only real way to do it is to drive less.  Which is what I try to do.  I hate driving.  I've even cut a way back on SW runs.  Barely do that at all nowadays.

That's no hybrid.  Environment killer.

Considering the SUV we briefly owned before it, I'm doing great at 25 mpg.  But you're right.  My next car will be.  I hope to eventually live in a city where I don't really need one though.

Dirk is a good player, but he didn't just have a bad game or two, he FLAT OUT DISAPPEARED for at least 3 of the Mavs losses - and last night was the worst.  He didn't just have a mediocre game, he was invisible.  His quotes to the media were nothing like what you'd want from a leader, and he looked like he wasn't even trying last night.

Not what MVP's do in the playoffs.  End of story.

I was rooting for the Mavs as much as anyone, but there were times I thought the refs were trying to push it to Dallas.

I think Golden State simply overcame a big challenge.  They match up well, and they have a coach who knows the opponent more than anyone else.  Like when Gruden dismantled the Raiders in the Superbowl.
