It was the same thing for me with Collateral as it was with Miami Vice... a stylish, well directed look - stuck with the questionable casting of horrible actors (Tom Cruise).

I saw Miami Vice last night... I loved the camera work, the direction, the look and feel... the story was about what I expected

But Collin Ferrel is so unbelievably horrible to watch that it practically ruined it for me.

The dialogue and soundtrack were also largely ****.

Well that's 3-3.

We'll leave the voting open for another week and a half.  If August 10th ends and Live draft is ahead, everyone can have a few days to post dates that don't work for them and we'll try to work something out.

If August 10th ends and forum draft is ahead, we'll pick an order and set a start date.

Sound fair to everyone?

I picked up a 16th yesterday, because he was on clearance for $2.98

Ouch.

On a personal note... I'm getting to the point where I'm going to bench all my SP's not named Halladay or Verlander...

I had the best WHIP and ERA in our league up until a few weeks ago when everyone and anyone on my team has been giving up 6+ runs in just about all their starts...  I've tried picking up pitchers who are on hot streaks and it absolutely HASN'T worked... Matt Morris was hot but got jacked up in his first start for me... same with Padilla, and today Garland...  Meanwhile Glavine sucks, Kenny Rogers was getting killed, Chris Young's been okay but not spectacular and and even Arroyo has cooled down.

****.

I've got family at University Plaza on the edge of the Village... I used to go up every summer but lately it's been more sporadic.

I love it there...  I was there two months ago and before that I went up in February of last year to see the Gates in Central Park.... for me I usually just go to the museums when I'm looking for something to do in the city.  The Met, Natural History, Moma, Whitney, Guggenheim, Jewish, Intrepid are among the best there if you're looking for that sort of thing.

Gasoline costs roughly 40% more than it did a year ago.

A barrel of oil costs roughly 20% more than it did a year ago.

Yet Exxon is making $1,318 per second in PROFIT, $79,000 per minute.

BP is making $55,000 per minute.

Hmmm.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Anyone know anything about meteorites?
« on: July 28, 2006, 01:04 AM »
Thanks for the advice.  I'm thinking that I'm going to drop about $50 or $60 when I finally pull the trigger on this... it seems like for $1 to $3 you can get little space pebbles, but $50 or $60 gets you something between golf ball size and tennis ball size.

I've noticed that lots of these sellers are meteorite dealers and many of them offer certificates... I don't know if that's proof or anything, so I'm going to pony up an extra few dollars and eventually buy from one with lots of feedback.  There seem to be a few that have 1500+ feedback ratings and I'm thinking they're probably pretty safe bets.

I've always tipped for haircuts too - when I'm actually going to a barber or salon.

I figured that these two friends who were telling me that you always tip everyone (unless they really really were horrible) were only feeling this way because they both worked in restaurants.

The same way that I always take my shopping cart to the return because when I was 17 I worked at a grocery store and had to bring carts in...

But it's a little odd that one of the guys who was telling me this was the one who I picked up a technique from that is about what you do Deanpaul, I circle the printed total, and then draw a line down through the tip line.

I was actually going to start a thread like this but hadn't gotten around to it yet...

I am a tipper, who isn't.  But I never tiped for take-out... if I pick the pizza up myself, buffets stuff like that.

But two of my friends who I was out with a few weeks ago gave me absolute hell for not tipping the take-out people...

I was never doing it to stiff anyone, just because I hadn't gotten service so I didn't think you were supposed to tip?  My girlfriend and other people I know thought that was perfectly normal and reasonable, but these guys made me feel like a real ******* for not tipping all these people.

They said that if there is a tip line on the credit card reciept, you're supposed to tip.

B.S. or not?

Thanks guys, the compliments are nice to hear.  This whole sharing pictures thing is giving me second thoughts about how much stuff I buy though.   :)

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Marvel Comic and EU 2-Packs
« on: July 25, 2006, 12:50 PM »
If Hasbro really wants to do EU, they should pick a story (NJO would probably be the best for sales) and make a series, 20 figures or more... on nice packaging... make Vong warriors, Jedi Knights, Luke, Leia, and Han.... they could even do Chewbacca ...etc...

It could be awesome.

Instead, they pick a few figures from all over the place that they can get onto shelves with little or no effort (repaints) and the product looks lame.
